About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated person with a passion for volunteering and training who can aide in helping to build and sustain a solid and quality framework for the volunteering and workforce training provision at Mind BLMK.
The successful candidate will aide in the creation and administration of cohesive processes and systems for workforce training and in ensuring that Mind BLMK increases its engagement of volunteers, which will include establishing community links and supporting the organisation’s vision and values.
Key Duties
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and mapping of Mind BLMK’s current workforce training offer, helping to identify gaps in provision (e.g. through staff appraisals, supervisions etc.), evaluate alternative solutions and making recommendations for effective and impactful training pathways
- as needed for all staff and volunteers.
- Continue the ongoing audit of existing staff and volunteer training records and maintain the framework for storing and reviewing staff and volunteer training records.
- Monitor and develop, if necessary, the monitoring system that shows staff and volunteers are completing the training required for their role and taking action when gaps are identified.
- Manage the staff training inbox and coordinate the administrative aspects of the training cycle, such as scheduling, booking, invoicing, and reporting.
- Promote and support the value of volunteering within Mind BLMK and with external organisations.
- Continue to review and monitor all existing volunteer roles on an ongoing basis to ensure an effective volunteer contribution in line with contractual obligations where appropriate is maintained across all departments.
- Aid managers with procedures for designing volunteer roles, managing enquiries, applications, interviews, references, DBS checks and provide a supportive oversight of each candidate’s volunteering cycle.
- Support the induction of volunteers ensuring they are positively onboarded into Mind BLMK and understand the culture, values, and code of conduct.
- Ensure processes are in place for all volunteers to receive training and regular one to one support by the appropriate person.
- Facilitate and manage meetings with volunteers and project staff as appropriate.
- Be responsible for ensuring the volunteer database and administrative tasks, including monitoring, and recording in relation to these duties is kept up to date.
- Support the recruitment of volunteer trustees.
- Liaise with other agencies in the community, including voluntary, statutory, and business organisations, in order to promote volunteering with, to recruit new volunteers and to draw in new resources.
- Ensure Mind BLMK is compliant with the legal aspects of volunteering

Supported Housing Coordinator

About the Role
The Supported Lodgings Co-ordinator role is a busy and varied one. You will be responsible for ensuring all young people referred to the service, are assessed, supported and placed effectively with their hosts. In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training and management of hosts, as well as promoting the service to key stakeholders, and supporting young people directly.
Wigan Supported Lodgings service will work across the different neighborhoods in Wigan and you will be responsible for the effective delivery of it.
Your work will be underpinned by the organisations Endeavour model of assets based, psychologically informed delivery. The aim of which is to ensure that every young person leaves the service with the skills and resilience to be confident and self-determining in their lives.
Your work will also be underpinned by the organisations model of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed delivery, the aim of which is to support our clients to understand and act on their values, strengths, and long-term vision for their future.
Working under the direction, guidance and support of the Deputy Supported Lodgings Manager and the Greater Manchester Prevention Team you will be responsible for young people needing longer term placements, as well as sharing responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all hosts and staff at the service.
Key responsibilities include:
• To be the first point of contact for young people and referral partners wanting to access the Supported Lodgings service.
• You will lead on the assessment of needs and risk, predominantly focused on suitable risk management plans for the safeguarding, matching and placement of young people in the homes of hosts
• Arrange all aspects of a young person’s stay with a host, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported, taking into account the support needs of individuals.
• You will have responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for young people and hosts through regular checks and reporting.
• To work with young people, hosts and other agencies, to prepare them for independent living and access longer term, appropriate accommodation using support plans.
• You will be part of a team responsible for a 24 hour on call service
• You will recruit, vet and train hosts both formally and informally ensuring that the host recruitment policies and procedures are implemented.
• You will be responsible for carrying out regular checks on host accommodation and assisting them to make necessary changes.
• You will proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies including statutory teams, to support the well being and ongoing housing needs of young people, working in accordance with safeguarding, data protection and information sharing protocols.
• You will lead on the active promotion and selling of the Supported Lodgings service to all potential hosts and referral partners, across the voluntary/statutory sectors and within the wider local community.
About You
You will need to have the following skills and experience:
• Experience and an understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness, or people in crisis
• Experience of supporting young people with their support needs, working closely with other key professionals.
• Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating risk assessments
• Experience of supervising or supporting hosts or staff
• An understanding and commitment to working in an assets based way
• Able to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures and follow them through to conclusion
• High level understanding of professional boundaries and ability to maintain them

About the role
As the #iwill Business Support Officer, you will be helping to grow a UK wide movement of youth social action, where young people are equipped and enabled to shape change in their own lives and communities. Young Responders is an exciting new St John Ambulance project which has been made possible by funds raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and awarded through Postcode Innovation Trust. The project aims to engage and empower young people from diverse communities who face the greatest health inequities to become active health citizens, through peer-to-peer learning and practical physical and mental health first aid sessions relevant to the challenges they face. Aimed at young people aged 14 to 25 (or 11 to 25 for broad access), who would not typically come through our doors. Young Responders will use existing St John young people and volunteers to deliver first aid training to young people from under-served communities. To deliver this ambition, young people and volunteers will become Community Champions who will deliver sessions that are local to young people and reflective of their needs and those of the community in which they live. The Facilitator will be responsible for directly leading and delivering first aid training sessions with community organisations and educational settings. This role will also offer pastoral support to those delivering sessions to support their welfare and wellbeing.

We are currently seeking a Scheme Manager to Manage two of our schemes based in Oxfordshire. The scheme consists of 40 and 20 properties and the role would be working alongside the onsite care team, who provide 24/7 care. In this key role you will deliver intensive housing management support to residents living within the scheme and liaise with the care team and external agencies to ensure that holistic support to residents is delivered to meet their needs.
This role is for 37 hours per week, and we can offer flexible working over Monday – Friday.
What you will be doing:
- Manage an Independent Living Scheme, by carrying out all intensive housing management tasks, such as income management, dealing with tenancy related issues and communicating with residents and third parties.
- Maintain thorough records of all contact with residents and support providers/professionals, using relevant systems as appropriate.
- Carry out suitability assessments, tenancy sign ups and empty homes management.
- Ensure the scheme is well managed, safe, and clean by overseeing any communal repairs, cleaning or maintenance and liaising with appropriate departments as necessary, escalating any unresolved concerns.
- Liaise with care teams and external agencies to ensure that a holistic package of support is offered to residents.

Liverpool SHS is a mental health, 12 hour supported housing and community based service, working to a recovery model. An opportunity has arisen to lead and run our Reachout Youth project, delivering weekly groups for young people aged 13-19 who are experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties. The groups are an informal, fun, confidential space where young people can meet and chat, participate in feel good activities and receive helpful information and tools. There are two groups a week, one on Thursdays in Tunbridge Wells between 4.30pm – 6pm and another in a community venue or a school in Tunbridge Wells or Tonbridge, details to be confirmed.
You will have experience of working with young people, and the ability to facilitate groups, plan and deliver creative activities that engage young people and encourage participation. You will have excellent communication and administration skills. We are looking for someone energetic, positive, warm and welcoming, who is able to deal with challenging situations with confidence.
The role is for 13 hours per week, for delivery of the groups, dealing with referrals, client support, planning, administration and supervision. Some flexibility to work from home outside of the groups is possible, although this is an office-based role.
