Part 1: Role Purpose:
We are seeking an outstanding Programme Manager to oversee the management of an exciting new Bengo-funded project piloting an innovative approach to overcome poverty as the primary barrier to education through the development of community-based savings groups. Working closely with Street Child’s national partner, the role holder will support the effective implementation of adaptive programming through hands-on support to implementation teams. Based in Freetown, the role-holder will travel frequently to project locations to monitor progress.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Street Child Germany team to ensure compliance to donor requirements and prepare accurate and timely donor reporting. The Programme Manager will also support the development of Street Child’s growing portfolio of German government, trust and foundations, and corporate funding in Sierra Leone, and wider West-Africa region, contributing to proposal writing, report writing and communications materials.
Knowledge of the German language and experience with Bengo compliance requirements would be a distinct advantage.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
1) Programme Management – 50%
- Work in collaboration with partner management to ensure quality and timely implementation of programme activities.
- Work alongside the implementation team to provide strong hands-on support in programme delivery and MEAL approaches, identifying and addressing challenges and blockages.
- Work closely with implementation teams to improve data analysis and learning, supporting the development of remediation plans where necessary.
- Alongside colleagues, provide training, guidance and advice to partner delivery staff to ensure effective and accurate use of programme documents and tools.
- Review narrative and financial quarterly reporting from implementing teams and provide feedback.
- Lead on donor reporting for the new Bengo project.
2) Programme Funding – 25%
- Work closely with the Street Child Germany team to respond to funding opportunities and guide programme development, in close liaison with Sierra Leone country team, and wider West-Africa teams, as required.
- Contribute to, and/or lead proposal writing, working closely with the Head of Programmes.
- Liaise with finance and programmes colleagues on budget and target setting for new opportunities.
- Prepare, and contribute to, reporting for a range of T&F and corporate donors.
3) Financial Support – 20%
- Support programme teams in compiling requisitions in line with programme forecasts and budgets.
- Work with finance colleagues to collate financial reporting, in line with donor requirements.
- Ensure compliance with donor expectations across the programme.
4) Other – 5%
- Coordinating staff, stakeholders and donor visits, as required.

About the opportunity
Critical to our mission, we are looking to recruit a London Programme Manager to be responsible for a geographical area and the schools within it, whilst supporting geographical expansion. You will oversee your region’s Action Tutoring programmes, liaising with our partner schools and developing new school partnerships, whilst supporting your team of Programme Coordinators to engage pupils and support them to build relationships with stakeholders and retain a strong pool of tutors.
As a Programme Manager, you will line manage up to seven Programme Coordinators to ensure they effectively manage their caseload of schools, whilst driving the quality of programmes and ensuring that the delivery of programmes meets organisational KPIs. This role will take a lead on new school recruitment, regularly pitching to Senior Leaders within schools and managing school partnerships within your region to ensure Action Tutoring’s growth targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the wider leadership of the Action Tutoring programme team, lead on programme-specific projects to support the programme department’s priorities and will be expected to support the wider learning and development needs of the Programme Coordinator team.
The position would suit someone who enjoys working with people who have a frontline role, gets energy from pitching to schools and wants to increase their management experience in an exciting and rapidly developing charity. The successful candidate should be able to manage their own workload to a high standard as well as support others, have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable, relational and used to problem-solving, and be able to work well with a range of
stakeholders and be confident in carrying out administrative tasks to support programme delivery.

Purpose of role

Primary responsibilities
- Managing an existing portfolio of livelihoods and climate grants, i.e. owning the relationship with the NGOs, following their progress, overseeing the financial and legal aspects of the grant, and reporting to the Chair. A lot of this can be achieved through desk-based work, calls and meetings, but sometimes we need to travel to see our partners’ work in person.
- Making recommendations on grant renewals, by carrying out detailed analysis of the NGOs and the impact of the grants and working towards their approval by the board of directors.

The Catalyst Collective is an innovative and rapidly growing non-profit organisation. Since our pilot programme launched in January 2021, we have expanded significantly. Overview of post
- To organise and develop the London Specialist Advice Forum with the Senior Programme Manager.
- To identify emerging issues that affect forum members and liaise with the forum members, the steering group, and external legal and non-legal organisations to discuss potential solutions.
- To identify and report pilot projects that emerge from needs identified through forum members.
- To identify emerging issues that affect specialist legal advice providers and support relationships with the key external strategic and policy organisations to raise these issues.

We're looking to appoint a Senior Programmes Manager - North West (Maternity cover) to help us shape and manage our programmes for young people nationally and lead our work in the North West.

About the role

As Senior Programme Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape our work nationally as well as lead our programmes in the North West of England, enabling us to grow our reach, deepen our impact and ultimately deliver our mission. Your work will ensure that across our programmes we offer young people meaningful and impactful opportunities to take action for people and the planet and have a voice in shaping the future of our landscapes.
You will work closely with and report to the Head of Impact and Programme Operations. You will also line manage the other regional Programme Managers and a team of two Programme Coordinators in the North West, and will collaborate with the Land-Based Projects and Policy Lead and the Land-based Project Coordinator at the intersection of our youth programmes and land-based work.
With support from your manager and in consultation with the other regional Programme Managers, you will translate our annual programme strategy into a robust cross-regional implementation plan covering both programme design and operations and make tangible improvements to enhance efficiency and impact across our regions. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our programmes are delivered as planned, to a high standard in line with best practice and cohesively across regions, and that regional objectives and targets in the North West are achieved.
The ideal candidate will be a highly capable and experienced project/programmes manager and team leader with a proven track record of motivating and supporting others to achieve the best possible outcomes for your team and your programmes.
