About the role

This role helps expand the breadth and reach of our service offer for people with secondary breast cancer. It works closely with the new projects and business growth manager and secondary breast cancer services team to support the successful development of our services. The 2 parts of this role are:

1. to provide a range of a) project management and b) administrative tasks to deliver projects to design, test and evaluate service developments, or activities to help us improve our insight on the needs of people living with secondary breast cancer, and:

2. following successful testing and evaluation, help embed and deliver service developments into business as usual.

The time spent between these 2 parts depends on the priorities of the secondary breast cancer team. And the role the team plays in delivering the Breast Cancer Now 2026-2030 strategy. Therefore, flexibility is necessary.

You’re a natural organiser, who’s confident working on your own initiative, prioritising your workload and managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines. As an effective communicator, you’ll have experience of communicating in person, on the phone or by email. With the ability to relate messages sensitively to a wide range of people.

Of equal importance, you’re proactive at recognising project risks and identifying recommendations to address them. Job Summary 

The purpose of the Area Giving and Finance Adviser role is to provide comprehensive finance support to churches within the Stepney Area, aiding them in the development of their ministries, manage Common Fund giving and to support the Area Bishop’s staff team in the management of resources including monitoring clergy post numbers, curate funding, and other financial matters. As part of a small team of Area Giving and Finance Advisers, the role involves offering training, resources, and advice on parish financial management and administration, and advice on various giving methods, including online and contactless options. Additionally, the role entails promoting generous giving through training initiatives, facilitating the award of grants and loans to churches from Area funds, and fostering effective communication and relationship-building between the Area team, Finance team, and parish officers. 

Job responsibilities 

Financial support  

• Enable churches to develop their respective ministries, manage their finances effectively, and meet their statutory responsibilities.

• Provide finance and other appropriate training, support, resources and advice to the clergy, PCCs and parish officers.

• Assist the Bishop, Archdeacons and Area Deans in managing Common Fund giving by the churches in the Area.

• Facilitate and monitor the award of grants and loans to churches from Area funds.

• Support the Area Bishop’s staff team and Area Council in monitoring the use of Area resources, including post numbers, curate funding and other matters.

Giving  

• Supporting parishes to encourage a culture of generosity and giving. 

• Promote generous giving through training, preaching and providing resources to clergy and parish officers.

• Support the introduction of different methods of giving, including online, contactless, and Parish Giving Scheme.

Relationship management  

• Build relationships with, and promote effective communication between, the Area team, Finance team, parish officers and the other Area Finance Advisers.  Work with the National Giving Team on projects that support parish ministry.

Essential 

• Experience of encouraging charitable giving.

• Educated to A Level or equivalent standard.

Purpose of the Job 

Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow Mind have secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a new outreach programme, designed to increase awareness and access to mental health support for children, young people (CYP) and families from underserved communities, children who may not be in school, or who may not be able to travel to use our services. Utilising your skills in engaging young people where they are, these roles are a key part of ensuring our work supports any young people who need our services.

Job Summary

The role includes:

• Delivering direct outreach with young people to raise awareness of mental health support and pathways.
• Providing detached mental health services within the community to address challenges in a non-clinical environment.
• Using your skills to develop engaging resources that increase awareness and understanding of youth mental health issues, and adapt them to different languages and local communities.
• Work alongside our Parental Engagement Practitioner to deliver with community groups and partner agencies, raising awareness throughout diverse communities across our boroughs.
• Create and manage partnerships with local community groups for the purposes of raising awareness and increasing access.
   

Key Responsibilities

• Work with your team to develop children and young people’s outreach provision offered by HFEH Mind, using creative approaches to engage CYP.
• Help CYP and parents to overcome logistical challenges to accessing support.
• Work in partnership with community organisations to work with underserved groups including boys and young people from minority ethnic backgrounds.
• Offer direct outreach support to young people who have been excluded from school or with emotionally based school avoidance.

• Use trauma informed approaches (e.g., ARC, Tree of Life) to support children, young people and their parents and carers.
• Signpost anyone accessing the provision to appropriate and local on-going support; and build up your knowledge and networks of such support.

The Social Switch Project

The Social Switch project is an exciting and innovative partnership between Redthread, Catch22, and VRU (Violence Reduction Unit), which aims to deal with the opportunities, and the challenges, of how young and at-risk people use social media.

Strand 1 will deliver accredited training each year to a minimum of 375 London based frontline practitioners and trusted adults (Teachers, Youth Workers, Parents, Carers, Police). This will focus on understanding the challenges and opportunities of the online space, and supporting young people to be better equipped and educated, for a safer online journey.

Strand 2 will support a minimum of 358 young people aged 16-30 each year, who may be at risk of, or have experienced, serious violence, exploitation, and/or grooming. The project equips young people with the skills and personalised mentorship needed to gain sustainable careers in the digital and surrounding sectors, whilst also offering interventions for young women and girls, focusing on how they can protect themselves from online abuse and exploitation, and how to recognise and report it.

About the role

Social Switch Project Practitioner Training

The Social Switch Project has developed a full day digital youth work training programme, for front-line professionals, who are working with young people in a range of capacities, in London. The training is a free one-day interactive course, and refresher training, which will give professionals the confidence to deal with the challenges, and the opportunities, of social media. 

Predominantly working on Strand 1, you will be responsible for the facilitation of this training, to a maximum of 30 professionals over the course of a full day, with multiple training events taking place throughout the year.

You will also lead on delivery for Strand 2, in supporting the development of young people's key employment skills. This training has been designed in partnership with young people who have lived experience of the topic, and so part of your role will be to incorporate them into the training, and support them to make a valuable contribution to the session.  

About you

• Knowledgeable of the social media, gaming, and online space, from the perspective of young people and children's safeguarding.
• Experienced in designing and delivery training for professionals, with the ability to engage targeted statutory and community groups, and driven to achieve high NPS with training delivery.
• High quality data input skills, with the ability to remain data compliant.
• Committed to ED&I, and experienced in Safeguarding.

Main Duties and Accountabilities

• Delivering high quality, engaging, presentations and training sessions to London based professionals who are working with young people in the youth sector, and delivering workshops and sessions so small cohorts of young people who are engaging in the Strand 2 element of Social Switch.
• Maintaining relationships with existing and new relationships with key stakeholders and youth organisations to maximise engagement in future delivery, and ensuring that the training elements are relevant to, and accessible to, a wide range of practitioners and grass-roots organisations.
• Working with the Service Manager and Social Switch team to monitor training success, incorporating feedback as and when it occurs, and ensuring that the training remains dynamic and engaging. Supporting the youth facilitators to share lived experience throughout the training, making valuable contributions to the overall sessions.
• Demonstrating effective forward planning, organising, and time management, to meet anticipated workloads and delivery targets and objectives. Working with the Service Manager to reach individual, team, and annual targets, based on youth provisions in London.
• Remaining up to date with the latest developments in social media, and its relationship with youth violence, incorporating learning into the training.
• Monitoring volume of sign-ups generated, and adjusting recruitment plans to maximise participation in the training programme.

Qualifications

• A relevant teaching/training qualification, or extensive practical experience of delivering training.
• A thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of social media, and how young people interact with it.
• Experience of delivering engaging and dynamic creative training programmes to a variety of audiences, on a variety of topics, monitoring success, incorporating feedback, and ensuring that training is relevant and accessible to participants.
• Strong team worker, with the ability to provide support to other members of staff, and youth facilitators.

Salary: £30,750 per annum
Hours of work: Full time, 37 hours per week

Flexibility: Hybrid working (1-2 days in our London office, 3-4 days working from home)

This is a sessional term-time role.  Working hours will be discussed and agreed at the interview stage.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Teaching

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met.
• Assess learners’ abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly.
• Develop and deliver consistently engaging and interactive sessions, utilising a variety of teaching techniques and materials to enhance learners’ understanding and engagement with the subject/topic.
• Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement.
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in professional development.

Administration

• To identify materials and equipment/resource needs to assist the provision of teaching and learning by students.
• Maintaining up to date course files and submitting accurate data on attendance and achievement within agreed deadlines.
• Preparing groups of learners for accredited assessment (exam or portfolio) & non-accredited assessment (RARPA), marking assessments and taking part in internal moderation and/or consultation meetings with appropriate Trust staff.
• Providing feedback on appropriate documentation for example observation, IQA reports etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

• Proven successful track record of planning and delivering high quality teaching of accredited and non-accredited provision in a relevant subject and at appropriate level(s).
• Experience of teaching adult learners of mixed abilities and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar role.
• Experience of devising course outlines and schemes of work.
• Experience of assessing and recording progress, both in accredited and non-accredited learning and supporting learners.
• Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team.

Desirable

• Understanding of the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement in non-accredited learning) system.
