Do you have experience in successfully managing complex projects, ideally in a not-for -profit environment?  We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to develop and shape programmes to successfully deliver against the Church of England’s ambitious target to become net-zero by 2030.

This role will be working across both Rochester and Canterbury Diocese and the successful applicant will need to have current working knowledge of environmental and climate issues.

This is a new role which is funded for two years. 

 Key Responsibilities

The post-holder(s) will:

• Oversee the ongoing development and delivery of the Net Zero Carbon (NZC) programmes for both dioceses.
• Maximise the alignment of the plans for each diocese as far as is practical to optimise the benefit of working together in partnership, and actively identify and develop opportunities for partnership working in delivery. Specifically, to develop a NZC action plan for Rochester including managing the adoption of the plan by the appropriate governance committees. (Note: Canterbury already has an approved NZC action plan.)
• Develop, maintain and deliver an implementation plan which highlights the strategic activities, has clear objectives and impact measures; including evaluation.
• Working with other diocesan colleagues, oversee the planning and development of decarbonisation projects to deliver the ambitions and targets in the NZC Action plans.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a track record of delivering complex multi-stakeholder projects, ideally in a not-for-profit environment with and understanding of environmental and climate issue.  An understanding of how these issues affect the Church of England would be beneficial.

About this role 

The Programmes Team is responsible for delivering demand-led services globally; providing tailored capacity building support to organisations and their partners through individual or framework contracts. As Programme Officer, you will work closely with Hub members to ensure events, trainings, services, projects and programmes are delivered to an exceptionally high standard, on time and budget.

This role also includes support to the monitoring, evaluation, research and learning aspects of RedR UKs role, particularly in regards to climate change and engineering in emergencies.

The primary purpose of the role is to enable the delivery of RedR UK’s Ukraine Humanitarian Criss response programme in Ukraine and neighbouring countries (hereafter referred to as ‘the Programme’). 

Job Description 

MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Delivery of events, courses, services, projects, and programmes 

• Assistance in the delivery of the Hubs’ events, courses, services, projects, and programmes. 

• In cooperation with line manager and colleagues, plan and identify tasks, prioritise, and allocate them as needed. 

• Support the project coordinator in activities, tasks, milestone, or deliverable tracking. 

• Lead on agreed elements of events, courses, projects, or deliverables, including external and internal representations as required. 

• Ensure wide communication of events, preparing marketing information and advertising where required. 

• Proof-read training material as required, and ensure RedR UK brand guidelines are consistently applied. 

• Organise availability of equipment, refreshments, resources, travel, accommodation, props, vehicle and venue as required. Prepare welcome packs, name badges, signature lists, certificates and other resources as required and ensure these are in place for the relevant time of the event 

• Respond to trainer and participant requests during the event, as required 

• Support the delivery of online events and, if necessary, travel to events and provide direct support to trainers and participants at events.

• Support the recruitment of external project staff, consultants and Associate Trainers, resource persons and actors including the production of Terms of Reference and ensuring the implementation of fair and transparent recruitment.

• Be a point of contact for external project staff, consultants, Associate Trainers and participants where required, responding to queries and providing information and support 

• Coordinate scheduling, liaison with trainers and interpreters to enable delivery of the Programme. 

• Be the first point of contact for participant enquiries (particularly where in Ukrainian language).

• Translate text and training promotional materials into Ukrainian, as required. 

Duty of Care and Procedures 

• Assist in researching the security situation, contributing information to risk assessments and travel plans. 

• Ensure compliance with general duty of care and RedR UK security and other relevant procedures. 

• Prepare contracts and ensure these are signed and stored appropriately.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning 

• Support the review of training materials for the L&D department, ensuring they are branded and formatted to RedR UK standards 

• Support the collection and analysis of M&E data across the programme teams

• Ensure all monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data is collected and tracked for events, including: 

• Collating and recording course statistics and evaluation data; 

• Maintaining accurate Salesforce records for all RedR projects and learning events in the region and as requested by Line Manager;

• Assisting with the collection and recording of impact assessment data 

• Support milestone tracking and reporting, 

• Assistance in drafting project or training reports. 

• Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting. 

• Support the programme coordinator in the tracking and analysis of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data. 

Facilities, Procurement and Materials 

• Build and maintain excellent relationships with relevant suppliers including but not limited to external training venues, transport and material suppliers required to delivery services. 

• Prepare, order, and arrange shipping of learning materials for courses and other materials as required.

• Prepare and format any online materials as required.

• Procure any course materials, equipment, refreshments, resources, travel, accommodation, and venue hire where applicable.

• Co-host live online sessions, providing support to the facilitator as well as to the course participants.

Admin and Finance 

• Maintain accurate finance records and monitor and record budgets and expenditure to provide timely analysis of this to inform decision-making. 

• Assist with audits, financial reporting and cash flow analysis. 

• Programme or training related administrative tasks including but not limited to filing; travel arrangements; logistics; procurement of materials required by the project or training; preparation of draft contracts or correspondence as requested by the line manager following agreed templates; assistance in competing required forms or compliance with RedR UK or project procedures; liaison with project staff, partners and stakeholders on administrative matters; etc. 

• Undertake timely and accurate processing of invoices and expenses in line with established processes and RedR UK’s Operational Manual. Support the programme coordinator on the monitoring of expenditure and budgets.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Essential 

• Language skills – Fluent English and Proficiency in Ukrainian is required for this role. 

• Administrative skills – Systematic and efficient administrative skills, including an ability to prioritise, manage and complete a variety of tasks against multiple deadlines and track information and progress.

• Event management – Experience of supporting a learning programme, organising learning events and working with consultants. 

• Understanding of the humanitarian sector – General understanding of humanitarian practices and principles, and a demonstrated commitment to our humanitarian mission and values.

• Use of technology – Experience with current software for project management, along with Microsoft Office skills; ideally knowledge of SharePoint or similar document management systems; ideally knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM systems.

• Financial skills – Able to track income and expenditure, use Microsoft Excel, check invoices and quotes are in line with project budgets.

• Work planning – Effective workload management skills and ability to use initiative to solve problems. Ability to track the progress of deliverables and activities and flag up underperformance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Coordination and Project Delivery

• ​To work closely with the Director of Strategy and Programmes to coordinate and support the delivery of all our programmes to achieve the outputs and outcomes agreed with our funders. 
• To support with event management both online and face to face including providing technical support to participants on platforms for online training, including driving all courses hosted on Zoom, and providing excellent customer service to all engaging with our work.
• To support evaluations through providing and analysing data to use in reporting to funders and stakeholders. 
• To lead on programme administration and funder updates, including tracking key data on platforms including Arts Council Annual Survey, Julie’s Bicycle, Illuminate and Salesforce. 
• To support with the administration of programme activity by attending and writing minutes for key meetings, drawing up programme contracts, aiding with diary management, filing, liaising with key personnel, and conducting phone or zoom conversations as needed. 
• To support with the financial administration of our programmes through invoicing and managing participant expenses.

Marketing and Communications

• To oversee and manage the day-to-day communications of our programmes, including managing our dedicated programme inboxes, liaising with participants, trainers and partners as needed.

• To support the Programmes team to achieve public-facing training sales targets for our programmes through implementation of the marketing plan.

• To support updating the website on a regular basis with support from the web designer and to be a coordinating lead and contributor in writing for key publications such as the digital Now, New and Next publication.

One in three students leave school each year without a pass in GCSE English and maths - this rises to over one in two for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Without GCSEs in English and maths, these young people are significantly more likely to drop out of education and are locked out of key professions, apprenticeships, and university courses.

Get Further exists to change this. Our charity has an award-winning tuition programme that helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds in further education to pass GCSEs in English or maths. We place highly qualified, specialist English and maths tutors in further education, who deliver a bespoke curriculum that builds confidence and skills in these core subjects.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

As a Programme Coordinator, you will work directly with Programme Managers to build and manage positive relationships, respond to and resolve queries and act as the first point of contact across our three main stakeholder groups: students, tutors, and college staff.

The key outcomes for this role are:

Students: Across the academic year you will be responsible for a portfolio of up to 300 students, ensuring that they maintain engagement with tutoring and that all available spaces on your programmes are filled.

Tutors: You will lead the task management of tutors who deliver to the students in your portfolio, ensuring that the tutors deliver high-quality tutoring to small groups of students and that attendance to sessions is consistently high.

College staff: You will build relationships with staff across colleges in your portfolio, to ensure logistics are smooth, programmes are launched effectively and on time, and that we maintain regular communication and reporting with our college partners on programme delivery.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Coordination

• Planning and preparation for each programme within your portfolio of college partnerships, ensuring that programmes are launched on time and with smooth logistics.
• Timetabling sessions, matching tutors based in your region to available sessions in your portfolio and recording timetables in shift scheduling software (Shiftbase).
• Managing data, keeping up-to-date records, and monitoring attendance and completion of baseline and final assessment and survey data through our CRM system (Salesforce).
• Prioritising safeguarding and the safety of the young people we work with, including following every element of safeguarding policy without fail.

Communication and Marketing

• Promoting the tuition programme to students onsite across the college campuses in your portfolio, ensuring that all available spaces (up to 300) are filled across the duration of the programme.
• Developing new approaches to maximise student engagement with tutoring, identifying quickly what the most effective strategies are for the students who attend the colleges in your portfolio.
• Ensuring effective, regular communication with the tutors who deliver to students in your portfolio, including responding to queries in a timely manner, and signposting tutors to additional development opportunities within Get Further

Relationship-building

• Working closely with college staff, to ensure that our tuition programme runs effectively. This includes programme preparations, particularly on logistics, ensuring that plans are in place to ensure that rooms have been identified for tutoring, that tutors are able to access these rooms, and that resources are available onsite.
• Maintaining effective working relationships with key college staff, keeping them up to date on programme developments, and reporting to them on attendance and impact on a regular basis.
• Supporting timely data collection on our delivery and impact from our FE partners and producing impact reports for each partnership in your portfolio.

Task Management

• Overseeing the successful delivery of tasks that Lead Tutors are responsible for, including monitoring their progress against attendance call KPIs, and providing them with support to ensure attendance to tuition sessions is consistently high across your portfolio of colleges. From time to time, you may be required to assist with the delivery of attendance calls to students, providing extra capacity to ensure that engagement with tuition is sustained for the duration of the programme.
• Holding regular touch-point meetings with your Lead Tutors to ensure that they are on track a
• Maintaining high standards across the delivery of tuition in your portfolio, carrying out session observations and providing feedback to tutors.

Championing Get Further

• Working closely with the wider Get Further Team to ensure that we achieve our charity’s mission and strategic priorities.
• Ensuring accuracy in your record keeping and data input, so that Get Further can effectively report and evaluate its programmes to achieve positive system change for students in further education.

Summary of Role

The Regional Head of Middle East Programmes supports the organisation’s programmatic efforts with a focus on developing and implementing strategy for the Middle East region whilst also providing hands-on support to day-to-day grants management, partner management and donor coordination and reporting.

The following role works closely with the Director of Programmes and Head of Programmes (Protracted Contexts). The role will also regularly work as the intermediary lead with the established Collective for Refugee Leadership in MENA (CRLM), which is a group of donors and thought partners focused on advancing refugee leadership and support for refugees across the Middle East and North Africa.

You will be highly flexible and adaptive, able to respond effectively and in line with our emergency protocols to humanitarian crises as required, whilst also supporting longer-term protracted programmes work. You will have strong project and grants management experience and highly effective administration skills. You drive efficiency and innovation and provide senior management guidance on international projects, as well as high-quality implementation. You will address challenges and issues in all aspects of project implementation and ensure timely and appropriate solutions, including the identification and mitigation of programmatic risks. You will also demonstrate strong people management skills, with an ability to provide both task management and strategic guidance (in addition to more holistic line management support) to several team members.

Responsibilities

 Grant Management

● Manage the Choose Love Middle East team to ensure smooth and efficient grant-making for our work in the Middle East

● This includes leading on, and managing a small team, to:

▪ Work closely with partners to gather, review and track due diligence documentation required for granting to partner organisations.

▪ Support the maintenance of grants systems to track grant making progress e.g start and end dates, reporting deadlines, no cost extensions etc.

▪ Draft and/ or review grant agreements between Choose Love and partner organisations and ensure any grant amendments or addendums have correct and accurate information

▪ Review reports from partner organisations to ensure effective use of Choose Love funds

▪ Work with the Data Lead (Programmes) to review Middle East reporting data received from partners and assess outputs, impact and successes from grant-making in the region. This will include being closely involved in impact reporting within the CRLM initiative.

▪ Working with the Director of Programmes / Head of  Programmes  to attend monitoring  trips to the region

▪ Support the Safeguarding Lead on Safeguarding organisational development  for the region as needed

▪ Problem-solving with partners on how to get funding into challenging contexts

Partner Relationship Management

 ● Build meaningful, effective ongoing relationships with new and existing partners.

● Lead partner calls and track key takeaways and actions to share internally.

● Lead on regular check-ins with existing, long-term partners.

● Respond to ad hoc needs arising from partners - including clarification/support on the application process and support with reporting.

● Support with narrative reporting to donors - capturing the work of our implementing partners in the region

Regional Strategy

 ● Working closely with the Director of Programmes and the Head of Programmes (Protracted Contexts) and ELT,  to develop and implement the regional strategy for Choose Love’s programmes in the Middle East as part of the wider Choose Love Strategy.

● Consulting with key advisors and stakeholders on recommendations for the Middle East strategy

● Championing and supporting opportunities to promote funding to refugee-led and lived-experience led organisations

● Working with the team to implement the regional strategy and adapt the approach in response to contextual changes or humanitarian emergencies

● Maintain an up-to-date expert understanding of the changing context and needs in the region

● Lead on Choose Love’s involvement in CRLM,  including inputting and implementing the new strategy, processes, and systems

● Participate in relevant sector / regional meetings

People Management

 ● Thoughtfully manage the existing team that supports Choose Love’s Middle East work by providing day to day support, meaningful 1:1s and annual reviews and identifying any learning and development needs

● Collaborate closely with (2) other Regions Heads on wider team initiatives and tasks, and be willing to provide surge management support for other regions during absences or periods of annual leave

● Support CRLM in recruiting and utilising advisors and consultants

Internal Communications

 ● Facilitate the sharing of regional strategy and updates across the wider Choose Love team to feed into wider fundraising efforts

● Communicate partner activities / asks to the rest of the team, including presentations on team calls and email updates to the team

● Support the ELT with information to feed back to the board about Programmes work.

● Capture information on specific contexts and summarise quickly and efficiently to the Communications team, as well as for external stakeholders/funders.

Essential Criteria

● Fluency in Arabic and English (both in written and speaking)

● Experience working in a programmes or grants-focused role related to the Middle East region

● Experience in the humanitarian sector, ideally with people who have been displaced

● Have permission to work in their country of residence

● Ability to travel within the Middle East region

● Line management experience, with remote line management experience highly desirable

● Experience liaising with donors and external stakeholders

● Report-writing skills

Part of our Equity, Inclusion & Culture Directorate, the Lived Experience Insight Team delivers a programme of local and national involvement activities to ensure the views of those affected by the housing emergency shape and influence all of Shelter’s work. People with lived experience are involved in a range of different ways, through forums and events in local communities, sharing their story as part of campaigns, and speaking out about the issues that affect them. This helps ensure that our services and campaigns are developed alongside local communities and so that lived experience informs everything we do.

This role will focus more specifically on our GROW (Getting real opportunities of work) Traineeship Programme – a programme designed to provide 12-18 months employment opportunities for people who have experienced multiple disadvantages and exclusion. The programme is focussed on breaking down barriers to employment by embedding lived experience within the workforce and supporting systems change. These placements provide a range of support, learning and development to really support our GROW Trainees within their working environments. All of our traineeships also include a ‘move on’ phase with the goal of supporting trainees to secure future employment. Our GROW Traineeship programme is key to Shelter’s strategic aims of putting people with lived experience of the housing emergency at the centre of everything we do.

About the role

This role will lead the delivery of Shelter’s national GROW Programme, and we’ll rely on you to oversee the programme and employability focussed activity, ensuring that the right structures and resources required to facilitate our traineeships are in place. You’ll also ensure that the programme is centred around lived-experience, as well as anti-racism and inclusion principles. Peatland Programme Communications and Engagement Lead

Salary: £31,500 per annum (£25,200 pro rata for 0.8 FTE)

Location: Home working (UK based). Some travel will be required

About You

The successful candidate will be employed by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s host organisation, The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. The new team member will be pivotal in the delivery of the Peatland Programme’s objectives to champion peatland values. They will have the level of knowledge and experience to drive forward and promote peatland restoration in the UK and be able to advocate the multiple benefits of peatlands through partnerships, strong science, sound policy and effective practice, and communication.

They are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Communications and Engagement Lead to drive and deliver the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s communications activity to promote the benefits of healthy peatlands to a national audience. This will be done primarily through establishing and maintaining good relationships with external contacts and partners and using these networks to identify opportunities and to build the Programme’s reach. You will lead the production of communications materials through design and appropriate messaging, assist their advocacy work, and plan and deliver events such as online workshops and their annual conference.

They are looking for someone who is passionate about communicating peatlands to a wide audience and is creative and proactive in their approach. The peatland agenda has expanded exponentially over the last 10 years and you will need to be an excellent team player and networker to capture what is happening and communicate this to multiple partners and stakeholders. The Communications and Engagement Lead post is a standalone communications post within a small team (9 people) and your ability to quickly develop good relationships with partner organisations will be critical to your success in the role.

You will be lead on the delivery of the communications strand of the Peatland Programme’s activity. You should have experience of designing publications, creating digital content, newsletters, running stakeholder events and managing social media accounts. You will support the wider Peatland Programme team in networking, identifying opportunities for collaboration, as well as in the production of resources such as briefings and web content.
