The role
This is an exciting time to join FareShare as we enter a period of expansion, recruiting to three identical roles across FareShare UK-owned sites in Merseyside, East Anglia (Ipswich) and Southern Central (Hampshire). These roles, reporting into the Regional Manager of each site, have been created to sustain, and in time, increase the financial sustainability of these operations. Whilst the income generating opportunities may vary by area, you will become a support team to one another.
Each post holder will be expected to build positive working relationships with the local on-site team and be embedded in the FareShare operation at their respective site.
These new roles will also enable FareShare UK to test a regionally-led approach to income generation, testing new initiatives and ways of working. In collaboration with the Senior Network Fundraising Manager, these learnings will help inform our work with the wider network of FareShare network partners who operate across the country.
Main areas of responsibility
As the Development Manager in FareShare Merseyside, you will be responsible for driving income generation and raising awareness of FareShare’s work in the region. This includes the development of a fundraising strategy, the prospecting and securing of new partnerships and funding, with oversight and responsibility of all income generating streams.
The key focus of the role will be:
- Developing a strategy for growth: Lead the development and execution of a fundraising and income generation strategy to grow FareShare Merseyside’s partnerships and income streams. You will use your business development skills to develop meaningful and impactful funding propositions to attract and retain supporters.
- Ensure a diverse income portfolio: You will use your knowledge and experience of income generation within Merseyside, to increase funding from across multiple income streams, offering opportunities to give which appeal to the local community – this could include from trusts and foundations, local/ regional businesses, fundraising and awareness-raising events, individual giving and major donors.
- Stewardship and relationship management: You will deliver a positive experience for any funder or supporter of FareShare Merseyside, and by doing so, maximise on their potential lifetime value.
- Mutually beneficial partnerships: You will work closely with key funders to develop partnerships that are about more than just income, ensuring that our goals, as well as theirs, are met.
- An innovation mindset: You will take the lead in reviewing new fundraising ideas and opportunities, creating business cases where needed. You will develop a pipeline of income generation opportunities, ensuring FareShare Merseyside is set-up for long-term growth.
- Using data and insights: You’ll use data to drive decision-making across all income streams, frequently looking for ways to innovate and diversify funding sources, evaluating the impact of your work, with a willingness to change and adapt your approach.
What this looks like day-to-day
- Build and manage a portfolio of high value strategic partners and funders to support FareShare Merseyside’s growth, with development plans in place for all key relationships.
- Oversee the development of a healthy pipeline of funding prospects, with an eye on ensuring long-term sustainability and multi-year funding and partnerships.
- Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify new income generating opportunities – across both high value and public fundraising.
- Identify and set-up new income streams to ensure a healthy income mix that is not over-reliant on one income source or type.
- Maintain effective systems for managing funding partnerships and other income streams, using tools like Salesforce to keep financial and partnership records up-to-date.
- Lead the onboarding of new funders and partners including contract negotiation and due diligence.
In addition, you will...
- Work within regulatory guidelines to ensure you are fundraising legally and responsibly.
- Be mindful of, and help drive FareShare Merseyside’s commitments to reducing carbon emissions and waste.
- Manage and work within FareShare’s IT systems and other key policies.
- Undertake training and skills development and adopt a continuous learning approach to your work, particularly in light of these being new roles.
- Undertake other duties as required.
This role is likely to involve meeting with funders, supporters and partners across the region – both on and off-site. The ability to travel when needed would be helpful, but there is flexibility in how this is managed/ achieved.
What you’ll bring to the role

- A proven track record in developing and managing funding partnerships in either the charity or commercial sector.
- In your career, you have engaged, managed and grown relationships with funders/ partners, increasing their financial support over time.
- You have worked on partnerships that deliver both financial and non-financial value and understand all the possible ways in which a company can support a charity’s work, including cause-related marketing campaigns and volunteering.
- Experience of income generation within a charitable setting with demonstrable results from at least two of the following income streams: Trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donor, individual giving, community and events fundraising.
- The ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies, turning them into successful operational plans.
- You’re an excellent communicator – both written and verbal and can win hearts and minds, both internally and externally.
- You know how to use data to make informed decisions and spot new opportunities.
- An ability to manage multiple projects and strands of work simultaneously.
- You have experience in influencing and managing people, building strong internal relationships to deliver results.
If you have skills and experience in these other areas, we’d love to hear about them, as we believe they’ll help you in the role… but these are a nice-to-haves and not an essential part of our criteria.
- Knowledge of the funding landscape within the Merseyside area.
- Experience of working in a federated or network organisation.

THE ROLE: The Director is responsible for the overall running of Maa Shanti. This includes supporting and managing staff, developing strategy, operational management, contract management, service development, consultancy, partnership working, safeguarding and child protection, HR, recruitment, marketing and social media. The Director will also have oversight of financing and fundraising, with support from the head of Fundraising and the accountants. THE COMPANY: Maa Shanti supports South Asian mothers who are impacted by domestic abuse. Our aim is to reduce isolation, and increase confidence, knowledge and skills for our services users. We do this by improving access to activities, education and employment and through the provision of advocacy and support (both in person and remotely). We run a programme of events, workshops and events which includes e.g. yoga, mindfulness, cooking, vocabulary groups, arts and crafts, excursions and children’s activities during school holidays. The charity was founded in Islington as a grassroots organisation in 2004 and has grown in strength and size in the last 20 years. We currently have 5 members of staff working for the charity.
WHO CAN APPLY: The successful candidate will be creative, committed, organised and have a good understanding of the issues facing our service users. We are looking for the right person to work alongside WAST’s management group of women seeking asylum to successfully take forward WAST’s development priorities – supporting women through the asylum system, campaigning on the issues affecting them and supporting wellbeing through a trauma informed approach. You will work to maintain and develop WAST’s infrastructure and resources to ensure its continued strength and stability.
You will need to have relevant experience in charity or public sector management and fundraising, with a positive participatory leadership style. WAST is run by and for women seeking asylum and currently has around 170 members. It was started in 2005 by WAST’s current Chair whilst fighting her own anti-deportation campaign and became a constituted charity in 2014. Its purpose remains to provide a safe space for women coming together in solidarity to offer support, share information and help each other to survive and to get their leave to remain in the UK. Women are at the sharp end of the ‘hostile environment’ with punitive government immigration policies and practice. WAST enables a process of empowerment through which women gain the confidence and strength to voice their experience and campaign for justice.
WAST is a place of hope and belonging with its core values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment and its continuous development of its trauma informed peer support approach.
WAST is proud of its pioneering work giving a voice to women seeking asylum and inspiring other women around the country to set up similar groups. WAST has been at the forefront of national campaigning against detention, has published three books and created two plays, giving voice to women’s experiences.
Activities are led by the WAST Management Group elected by the membership and supported by WAST staff, currently a part-time Engagement and Programme Coordinator (and we will soon be recruiting for a second part-time coordinator role).

About the role:
As the Head of Business Development & Fundraising, you will be selling Crimestoppers’ commercial services to prospects and upselling to existing partners; working closely with/supporting BD account management and support functions (Marcoms, Contact Centre, Legal/Finance) within the organisation to ensure the smooth implementation of new partnerships in line with our charitable objectives.
Main Responsibilities of the Head of Business Development & Fundraising role:
- Ensure a continuous pipeline of prospects which are converted into income to achieve our in-year net financial objectives.
- Oversee completion of all new Business Development contractual documentation with co-agreed amendments; hand-over of all relevant documentation/contact details.

- Takes a lead in developing partnerships that address major Crimestoppers’ crime priorities in line with our strategy.

The Ashinaga movement was founded in Japan in the 1960s and has since expanded across the globe, empowering over 110,000 orphaned youth with access to education and support to achieve their full potential. The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for securing and building funding partnerships, overseeing external communications, and grant applications. The Partnerships Manager will work closely with the Managing Director. This is a part-time role.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Managing Director to develop and execute the fundraising strategy.
- Manage existing funding partnerships.
- Secure partnerships with corporations, foundations, individual donors, and UK universities to advance our mission and support our programming.
- Identify new funding opportunities, cultivate relationships, write proposals, and report on progress.
- Write grant proposals to secure funding from grant-making bodies.

About the Role
The role is part of the wider Global Accounting Team, and is responsible for the accuracy of fund accounting globally, by ensuring:
- MSI (globally) is accurately accounting for all donor income to which it is entitled including all indirect grant income and performance related income.
- MSI fully understands the financial implications of all new projects and promptly closes the financial accounting for all projects with no outstanding balances.
- Support is provided to Country Programme teams to complete accounting and reporting on projects and ensure all project accounting complies with MSI regulations and specific grant/donor requirements.
- The composition of the donor pipeline (secured and unsecured) is analysed so it can be integrated with MSI business planning and forecasting processes.
- Reports are compiled by analysing and interpreting project data, enabling Senior Management to have visibility over the donor pipeline to enable decision making.
- With the leadership of the Senior Manager – Donor Forecast & Pipeline Development, support is provided to the wider Donor Finance Team to ensure key processes are streamlined and automated using systems available, driving a culture of innovation to ensure the team is consistently looking for the optimal way to manage the overall donor portfolio.
