As the Finance and Operations Director & Deputy Chief Executive, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that Pharmacist Support is financially sustainable and operationally efficient. Location: Remote working with travel to Together Trust locations in Greater Manchester and surrounding area and attending some meetings throughout England where necessary.

Leading on Policy and Campaign development of the charity’s policy, your role will be to put forward evidence-based policy recommendations and campaigns and working with the people we support to influence change ensuring that the voice of the people we support is heard and acted on by key decision makers. 

Acting as the spokesperson for the Together Trust and the people it supports on policy issues you will be responsible for the following:

• Managing and developing the Together Trust’s policy and campaigns strategy in line with the Trust’s strategic long-term plan.
• Leading on the development of policy priorities with staff and the people we support. Working with them to develop a Theory of Change for the Together Trust. Working directly with the Trust Directors, Trustees and external agencies.
• Representing the Together Trust at meetings with MPs, Councillors, parliamentary groups, select committees to help drive forward Together Trust’s policy and campaigns work.
• Improving the Together Trust’s visibility in UK Parliament by attending sessions, submitting evidence and nurturing networks.
• Reporting on policy, campaigns and participation activities to the Supporting People sub-group, providing updates on activity and progress against key milestones.
• This role has line management responsibilities.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• An undergraduate degree qualification (Level 6 or equivalent), preferably in a relevant discipline with a good understanding of the UK political environment, local and national government structures and decision-making.
• Line management experience supporting team members to achieve their KPIs.
• Experience of using different campaign tactics including recruitment actions and support journeys.
• Experience of speaking at events or representing an organisation in a professional setting.

The Head of Policy & Public Affairs is responsible for leading UK Youth’s influencing work with Westminster, devolved administrations, and local government. They will lead our advocacy for ambitious and actionable policies that will help unlock youth work for all young people. They will ensure that our policy recommendations are informed by the strongest available evidence, meaningful youth involvement, and the expertise of youth workers. The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. Fundraising at BCYP

BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. The Role

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work across both Houses of Parliament to ensure that our updated Safeguarding policy is effectively implemented and embedded across our varied teams.

The Parliamentary Estate is a mixed-use site, with many different activities involving a wide range of individuals: from members and staff of both Houses, to visitors on democratic access tours and attending proceedings, school children on educational tours, VIP visitors and parliamentary delegations, and tourists from all over the world.

You will need to work with teams across Parliament to understand these different activities, assess the risks of harm to children and adults at risk, the likelihood of those risks materialising, and how Parliament can effectively mitigate them. You will lead in the roll out of our updated Safeguarding policy alongside the development of a network of trained safeguarding coordinators, developing a community of interest to share best practice and guidance.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

• To be the lead source of advice and guidance on safeguarding policy and practice within Parliament.
• Support the work of the Safeguarding board, providing expert briefing, analysis and recommendations as required by the board.
• To act as an additional Designated Safeguarding Officer, supporting the work of the existing Designated Safeguarding Leads as required.
• To lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the new safeguarding policy, using a risk-based approach to embedding it in parliamentary activities, structures and culture.

• Deliver and enhance our network and engagement programme to support green space owners and managers

The Group Finance Director holds a key role in the executive team in the Foundation Office of the Charity.  They are accountable for all matters relating to the UWGCF Charity finance, including the oversight of school income, endowment investments, loans, subsidiary companies, VAT, and the leadership of the Foundation finance team.  To succeed in the job, the post holder needs to build effective working relationships with independent school bursars and finance teams and link effectively with the Business managers in the state funded academies.

The UWGCF is a complex organisation, and the post holder will need to demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build effective and supportive working relationships with other and be prepared to engage fully in the work of the Foundation. This may mean working outside of normal working hours but most importantly means communicating and work with colleagues as part of the team.

Initially they will report to the Chair of Trustees, although following a Governance Review and further work on Foundation Strategy, the Trustees may appoint a Foundation CEO.  In the meantime the Foundation Office is led by a joint executive comprising three executives: Director of Governance and Operations, Director of HR, and Director of Finance.

We are looking for a Research Officer to join our Campaigns, Policy and Research directorate. This busy team work with politicians, officials, and the wider sector to raise the profile of issues affecting the Armed Forces community, and lead evidence-based change to deliver better policy and services to address these issues.

As a Research Officer, this role will see you supporting RBLs role of designing, commissioning, and delivering research, analysis, and evaluation relating to the Armed Forces Community and the policy and practice that affects them.

Reporting to our Research Manager, some key responsibilities will include:

- Engaging with teams across RBL to understand and coordinate research activity, share knowledge, and ensure research findings influence policy and practice

- Identify gaps and opportunities for further development of research, evaluation, and data
- Design and deliver research activities, considering which methods are most appropriate and effective in different contexts
- Develop a network of close working relationships with key research stakeholders, for example in academic institutions, research agencies, charities, government departments, other public bodies, and the Armed Forces community

Here at Action For Humanity (AFH), we are looking for an Advocacy & Policy Manager to join us. You will join us on a full-time basis and in return you will receive a competitive annual salary of £40,000 to £45,000. This role is remote but based in London.

AFH is an NGO that provides aid and assistance to people affected by natural and man-made disasters. Our vision is a world of crises-resilient communities. Our mission is to mobilise and respond to emergencies and critical needs through humanitarian, development and peace-building action, helping affected communities survive, recover and build a better future.

AFH has taken a leadership role on advocacy for the ongoing conflict in Gaza and has a long history of being a thought leader on the humanitarian crisis in Syria. In order to help achieve this goal, AFH is recruiting an Advocacy & Policy Manager, where the successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Communications, manage and strengthen AFH’s advocacy campaigns, and develop and build networks to support our advocacy efforts. The Advocacy & Policy Manager will also be the focal point between the organisation and policymakers, in the UK and beyond.  

The Advocacy & Policy Manager will advocate the humanitarian needs stemming from the crises in Gaza, Syria, Yemen and other contexts in which the organisation works. They will convey the voice from the ground, to various external audiences, and will build a presence there to promote the organisation’s work, which is rapidly evolving and is entering newer phases.

Your accountabilities as our Advocacy & Policy Manager will include the following:

Building external relations

• Lead on creating and executing an Advocacy strategy and relationship-building plan to ensure AFH is well connected and respected amongst key stakeholders including politicians, policy makers, governing bodies, other NGOs, etc. Regularly seek new opportunities to enhance external relations.
• Represent AFH in advocacy meetings, humanitarian coordination and other forums, conferences, events, and working groups, leading as many as possible.
• Build and maintain AFH’s relationships with influential people and authorities, including politicians and Governing bodies. Facilitate supporting regular and meaningful engagement with them.
• Build and maintain relationships with regional advocacy groups in and around Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other contexts.
• Position AFH as influential in public debates on Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other countries where AFH works, making AFH a resource for journalists and other key stakeholders covering related issues.
• Keep abreast of regional advocacy groups in and around Palestine, Syria, Yemen and other contexts.

Supporting internal stakeholders

• Guide and advise AFH’s head and field offices on advocacy issues and trends.
• Support our field offices with Advocacy capacity building and enhancing business development, partnerships, and institutional funding.
• Support the head office with enhancing business development, partnerships, and institutional funding, through targeted external stakeholder engagement and improving the technical branding of Action For Humanity in the eyes of potential partner institutions.
• Identify advocacy opportunities by working with the wider Communications and Marketing departments in the writing, editing, commissioning and disseminating of press-releases, op-eds, statements etc., to secure coverage of the organisation’s work across the media spectrum.
• Collaborate with the Marketing team to create interesting and engaging multimedia content to ensure the organisation’s marketing and brand strategies incorporates our advocacy position.
• Provide analysis to the CEO, Director of Communications and other stakeholders, including inputs and talking points for meetings, as required.
• Promote a principled approach to advocacy, policy and external relations among relevant internal stakeholders, and ensure that external messaging is evidence-based and driven by field realities.

General

• Closely monitor the evolving humanitarian and political context in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, particularly where AFH currently operates, and disseminate written and verbal updates and analysis in a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce high quality public and private policy and advocacy materials including letters, briefing notes, position papers, and advocacy reports.
• Build up AFH’s advocacy work in relation to domestic programmes.
• Promote the advocacy positions of the Syria Relief brand as well as the Action For Humanity brand.

What we are looking for in our Advocacy & Policy Manager:

Education

• Degree (or equivalent) in relevant field i.e., International Development, International Relations, Public Relations, Economics, Politics.
• Evidence of sector-specific continuous professional development.

Experience

• Strong experience and track record in an advocacy or similar role.
• Experience in building strong relations and networking with key staff within various UN agencies, especially I/NGO, Forums, UN, OCHA meetings and with local ones.
• Collaborating in multi-national organisational problem solving, operations in complex organisations.
• Active participation with I/NGO Forums desirable.
• Understanding of UK political and media landscape.

Skills & Attributes
