Action Foundation was established in 2005 to assist asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants in Tyne and Wear. We aim to empower refugees, asylum seekers, and other migrants to live independently through a commitment to supporting them to achieve self-sufficiency and integration into the community.

The Language and Learning service has developed and enhanced its support towards better integration to include three streams of support which include employability workshops and advice, digital skills courses alongside non-accredited ESOL classes. We are looking for a full-time project manager to lead our staff and volunteer teams in the delivery of these streams of support.

You will line manage the Project Officer(s) responsible for different aspect of the service work and support them with the delivery of in-person classes and where required any online classes. You will also play an important role at a strategic level in developing partnerships and networks with formal and informal providers of ESOL, employability and digital skills to promote and enhance the service.

Medaille Trust is one of the leading providers of support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year. We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. Our Pursue work helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.

This role is based in a safe house in the Southampton area.

About the job

Due to a restructure, we are seeking a confident and experienced Modern Slavery Case Worker with a wide range of skills and importantly, a ‘can do’ approach.

As the Modern Slavery Case Worker, you will work as a member of a close and supportive team providing a safe environment for vulnerable female adults and their dependents up to the age of 1 from outside the UK who have experienced trauma and exploitation. You will provide high quality practical and emotional support to the residents within a risk assessed safe house setting. The role will involve assisting clients with increasing practical skills and self-confidence to empower and enable independent and safe living.

You will be expected to line manage Case Worker Assistants and bank staff. Additionally, you will be allocated a caseload of up to 5 service users to support.

This role is mainly Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend shifts. You will be required to be part of an on-call rota and able to get to and from the project if it is necessary to attend the project whilst on-call.

You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults, the ability to work within a ‘risk associated’ environment and, ideally, experience of working within a residential or community setting with non-UK citizens.

Administration / IT skills and health and safety awareness are essential. Modern Day Slavery, Immigration and knowledge of the asylum process would be desirable. Please also note that there is a substantial amount of administrative work involved in this role.

Believe: Positive Destinations Project Co-ordinator

Would you like to be involved in this new opportunity to support young people in Swansea develop the skills needed for the world of work?

Believe: Positive Destinations is a 12 week work readiness programme for young people aged 16 to 25.  The programme, part funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, has been developed specifically for young people who have little or no experience of the world of work. It is a holistic programme, it will support them to develop workplace skills, build their aspirations, increase self-confidence as well as providing them with strategies to manage their wellbeing. 

As the Project Co-ordinator you will assist the CSM with the development of this new service. This will include building a network of work placement providers and referral sources. You will be the main contact for placement providers and will provide direct support to participants to ensure they are achieving their potential. You will be responsible for delivering the programme to cohorts of up to 8 participants.

What does the job role involve:

• Promotion of the service at networking events and online.
• Establish a network of appropriate placement providers throughout Swansea and be the main contact for placement supervisors for the duration of the placement.
• Establish links with organisations who will be referring into the service, this will include Education, Leaving Care and NEET services.
• Delivery of a 12 week work readiness programme to cohorts of up to 8 participants including the delivery of Agored Cymru accredited units.
• Supporting young people to achieve their development goals.
• Responsibility for gathering and collating relevant data and contribution to report writing as per the request of the service manager and the commissioner of service.
• Tracking service user progress through the use of outcomes scoring over the duration of the programme and after exit, using a young person centred approach.
• Provide advice and guidance to PW1s in manager's absence.
• Standard service operating hours will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4.30pm Friday, however the role requires some flexibility around hours as we support young people around their needs.

Essential criteria

• Self-motivated and highly organised.
• Experience of working with young people aged 16 to 25 years in a one to one and group work context.
• Experience of working with young people who are NEET (not engaged in education, employment or training) in a relevant setting.
• Experience of delivering group work programmes.
• Assistance in the development of a service.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Children and Young People Area. Managing a dynamic team, you will be responsible for implementing and progressing the area’s overarching strategy, ensuring that children and young people in our community have access to a range of exciting and evolving opportunities that support their development, creativity, social integration and wellbeing.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, unlike NHS emergency services, is a charity. The free life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and by rapid response vehicles.

You will help them access essential services, navigate welfare benefits and housing issues, and challenge decisions they believe are unjust. You will also provide guidance and supervision to one Community Advice Worker. This role involves occasional outreach in Gillett Square and through home visits.

The role of Helpline Advisor

For several years, Guts UK have provided information, support and guidance to our community over the phone and by email. This year, we’re formalising that service into a professional Helpline and are looking for someone to join our small, talented support team.

During the initial 6-month trial period, the Helpline phone lines will be open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, but this may expand or change later in the year. Queries could be received via phone, email or web-query form.

​As a member of the Helpline team, you will offer on demand information, support, guidance and signposting primarily to enquirers living with, or caring for those with, digestive conditions and symptoms. The support offered will include receiving calls, emails and web form queries from people who are looking for more information about their digestive condition, need to know where they can turn to for support, or are waiting on a diagnosis and need help navigating how to get there. You will provide appropriate information, guidance and signposting to our own information and other external support organisations. As a charity, Guts UK covers all digestive symptoms and conditions, across the whole of the UK, and so no two days will be the same and queries will be diverse and interesting.

The role holder will man the Helpline (alongside others from the team) from 10am to 2pm (with a 30-minute lunch break) and during that time will receive, respond to and appropriately log phone calls, web-queries and emails.

About CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.

We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

CoppaFeel! is looking for a Head of Public Fundraising who will be responsiblefor leading an emerging department at CoppaFeel! that holds both historic and new income streams. 

With an ambitious team, we need someone in this role to engage a diverse audience and raise vital funds to save lives.

You will oversee acquisition and stewardship, maximising income from audiences including individual giving, community, gaming, lottery, legacy and in-memory giving. You will lead in developing and delivering the public fundraising strategy. With a recent review of public fundraising at CoppaFeel!, you will be key in the support and development of unrestricted income, as we invest in new fundraising products, marketing campaigns and growth.
