Key Purpose of the role
As a Head of Relationships, you will Build and maintain the relationship with target local authorities, making sure we understand what local authorities need and want and grow our income and increase the provision of our services.
The role will be to ensure that exceptional business relationships are developed with our commissioners guaranteeing the long term sustainability of the contracts. You will be the subject matter expert for your assigned commissioner and Local Authority and negotiate new business outside of the frameworks and tenders. While assessing service delivery against contracts and provide feedback on any gaps in operations, you will convey any necessary changes with the commissioners.
Who you are
To be successful, you will have senior level experience of being a Relationship/Account Manager for Local Authorities, Commissioners or Multi-Million corporate clients. With credibility in building relationships with public sector funders/commissioners you will have significant experience of negotiation and able to apply different techniques to varying situations. You will have leadership and motivational experience with a multicultural staff team with the ability to create a high performance environment, for all our contracts while setting and monitoring measures that reflect the corporate objectives and customer goals.

The role
Our key priority at FareShare UK is to increase the amount of surplus food redistributed to the charities and community groups we support across the UK. Food partners (manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, packers, catering providers, producers and others) are essential in helping us to achieve this, providing access to food and many other strategic resources. This crucial role will focus on working with our top food partners to maximise the mutual value in the relationship through strategic and structured account management. Our ability to meet growing demand and increase the amount of surplus food redistributed will be heavily influenced by the success you have in this role.
You will be the account lead for some of the biggest food businesses in the UK and will lead the Food Partnership Team focused on deepening and developing our most established food partnerships, maintaining food and funding from key accounts.
The role will see you lead your team to deliver a tiered and structured strategic account management approach of all top partners, coordinating colleagues across departments, including the Food Team, FareShare Go, Marketing, Fundraising, Network Operations and Volunteering teams. Working closely with the top food partners and internal stakeholders will ensure appropriate identification of activities, and monitoring of progress, benefits and evaluation.
You will help identify and overcome the barriers to food redistribution and increase the volumes of foods available to FareShare from food partners and their wider supply chains. You will innovate and problem-solve to provide the best outcomes for our most important food partners.
Main areas of responsibility
Business Development and Relationship Management
- Support the senior Leadership team by implementing and driving FareShare’s strategy to deliver the services that our top food partners want now and in the future.
- Keep up-to-date on trends and key areas of opportunity for top accounts.
- Lead a team of account managers, embedding a structured approach of account management to secure multi-year partnerships with key food partners
- Engage colleagues from across departments in delivering a holistic account management approach, underpinned by mutually beneficial joint business planning.
- Innovate and identify opportunities for improved partner experience
- Directly account manage key accounts, whose food and funding support we are looking to maintain, through structured joint business planning.

Business Process Improvement to deliver growth

- Lead, manage and motivate the part of the Food Partner Team focused on maintaining and deepening partnerships, creating a culture of high performance and a positive working environment.
- Support effective working with colleagues in the wider Food Team, and Network Development and Operations Teams to support an atmosphere of collaboration and trust consistent with FareShare’s values.

About the role:

Key Tasks

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development/Sales Executive to join a new awarding organisation (currently going through Ofqual registration) that's revolutionising music education across the UK.
This is a remote working role, offering a generous commission scheme, so there is lots of potential to significantly boost your earnings.
Position: Senior Business Development/Sales Executive
Location: Remote (monthly visit to Gloucester)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours (flexible working considered)
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience (plus commission, circa £57k OTE)
Contract: Permanent

The Role
These awards equip young people with the skills and behaviours they need to become leaders through the power of music. The Music Leader Level 1 programme has just been launched, signing up over 25 schools as centres set to engage 3,000 young people, with a pipeline of 150 more. The Music Leader Level 2 is set to launch in January 2025.
As the Business Development Executive, your primary focus will be to drive sales growth by building strong partnerships with schools, colleges and other independent training providers nationwide. Your success will be measured by your ability to sell the transformative awards, which have the power to change young lives.
You will use your exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to understand each client's unique needs and demonstrate how the awards can provide effective solutions.
As part of a small but dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to shape sales strategies and contribute to rapid growth.
About You
In this pivotal role, you will have a strong track record of success in relationship-focused, consultative selling, with a strong ability to drive sales growth. With exceptional communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct professional and persuasive conversations, you will have an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to spot new opportunities within the market.
Knowledge and a deep understanding of the schools and education sector is essential in this role.
This role requires a relational approach to sales, where you will conduct yourself professionally and persuasively, both over the phone and in face-to-face meetings.
Your passion, perseverance, and ability to spot new opportunities will be key to expanding reach and making the organisation a leading force in the awarding sector.
