Apollo Music Projects is a dynamic and successful music education charity, dedicated to bringing live classical music to children who might not otherwise experience it. We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our team, to manage our day-to-day finance and bookkeeping activities, as well as to work closely with the team regarding budgeting, and annual submission of the Annual Reports and Accounts.The Finance Officer will also play an important role as part of this small but passionate team in the operations of the charity, from fundraising through to delivery of the programme in the schools.This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to play a part in helping to shape the charity’s growth and expansion plans.

We are looking for an organised, enterprising and personable individual, passionate about the arts and about creating opportunities for children from a range of backgrounds to listen to and appreciate the magic of live music. This post requires someone who is able to take a high degree of responsibility, and is confident working independently, as this person will for the most part be working remotely. You will have excellent organisational skills, and a high level of precision in financial processes and bookkeeping.

The role will be mainly remote, with regular staff meetings and additional meetings with the CEO or other staff members in central London, and attendance at annual strategy days and some workshops and concerts, and may from time to time entail working outside of office hours.

About the role 

You will ensure we deliver high quality legal services and manage our Legal Aid Contract, with your main focus being to manage and supervise the legal teams who are advocating for clients with housing issues, as well as bringing about systemic change. You will be dealing with personnel issues, providing professional support and supervision to your team as well as carrying your own caseload of housing litigation.

Contributing to the strategic direction of Shelter legal services nationally will be an important aspect of the role too, as will taking the lead on delivering strategic change aligned to Shelter’s strategy and ensuring Legal aid contract requirements and performance targets are met.

You will be able to identify test case opportunities to address systemic bad practice and so achieve change for a greater number of people and will work closely with the Head of Legal Services, the Hub Management Team and teams within Communications, Policy and Campaigns and Business Development. As a key member of the management team, you will also get to play your part in the management of our offices, including attending management team meetings and collaborating with other teams.

About you

You will be experienced in working under a housing legal aid contract, court advocacy, carrying your own caseload as well as managing and supervising others. You will have a minimum of 4 years post qualification legal practice experience, have supervisor status and have substantial knowledge of housing and homelessness law. Independent File Reviews, time recording and good case management will also be part of the role. You are able to carry out research and policy analysis in the areas of housing, homeless and welfare law, produce reports and presentations.

A newly created role to support in the growth of the organisation, the Finance Officer role is a pivotal position within the finance and wider team. As Finance Officer you will play an important part in creating a robust and innovative financial service delivery to TPG and TPGE staff. You will support with day-to-day financial transactions and a range of accounting tasks in liaison with the Finance Manager, Head of Finance, and wider non-finance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the People function with strategic and operational oversight of all HR activities, aligning with organisational goals and values.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on staff development plans and lead and measure staff engagement and support broader cultural development efforts.
• Partner with managers across the organisation to develop their skills and ensure consistency in approach.
• Manage employee relations issues, ensuring fair and legally compliant outcomes, with varying levels of complexity.
• Lead and continuously improve recruitment practices, driving forward our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy, embedding it into all areas of people practice.
• Maintain responsibility for safeguarding compliance within HR policies and practices and act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead.
• Lead and continuously improve HR systems, policies, and procedures.
• Manage and support the development of the HR Officer.

Who We’re Looking For:

• CIPD Level 7 qualified, or demonstrable equivalent experience including experience in a senior HR role.
• Passionate about improving the lives of young people through sport, and inclusivity in the workplace
• Strong leadership and influencing skills. Self-motivated, discreet and able to deal with confidential information professionally.
• In-depth knowledge of employment law and best practice HR across the employee lifecycle

About the Role

As the new Finance Manager you will oversee the charity’s finance processes, leading all of the day-to-day financial operations, producing regular financial reporting for the senior management team and board. You’ll work closely with the Co-Director: Strategic Development to monitor financial performance against targets.

• Managing finance operations including bookkeeping and monthly reporting
• Producing financial reports for the senior team and board

Our Finance Manager is an essential part of the LRMN team.
