The Role: Bereavement Support Worker
As a Bereavement Support Worker at Addiction Family Support, you will provide crucial emotional and practical assistance to individuals affected by the loss of a loved one due to addiction. This role offers flexibility, allowing you to work remotely or in person, depending on the needs of the service and your own availability. Bereavement Support Workers operate within a flexible rota system to ensure those in need of support receive timely and consistent care.
Responsibilities:
- Offer empathetic and non-judgmental emotional support to those affected by the bereavement of a loved one due to addiction.
- Provide information, literature, and resources to help individuals and groups manage grief and cope with their situations.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate bereavement support group meetings, creating a safe space for participants to share their experiences and provide mutual support.
- Respond to inquiries and offer structured emotional support through helplines or support groups, following guidelines and safeguarding practices.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR and the charity’s policies.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and signpost individuals to additional services where appropriate.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.
It is an exciting and important time to be joining us at Crisis. We work with thousands of people across England, Scotland, and Wales so they can leave homelessness behind for good. You will be able to work from home one day per week in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy. You will be expected to travel around Birmingham and wider West Midlands on a regular basis to meet with partners and stakeholders. The Director of Crisis Skylight Birmingham will be responsible for leading and developing strategic partnerships across Birmingham and the West Midlands region. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead the service into our new 10-year strategy, influencing key local and national political, community and business leaders, partners, and providers to drive forward our strategic priorities all with the aim of ending homelessness. You will play a key role as a decision marker on the Client Services Senior Leadership Team, along with your counterparts from across the different regions of the UK.
About you
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, compassionate, bold, collaborative senior leader from the homelessness, health, safeguarding or associated sectors. You will have experience of building relationships with senior leaders to develop strategic partnerships with the aim of achieving strategic objectives including but not exclusively, in areas of change management, strategic development of services,.& leading collaborative partnerships that directly contribute to achieving performance targets You will have the motivation, commitment, and vision, able to influence a range of audiences and able to articulate a compelling case for change to key decision makers across the West Midlands . You will be a leader in your field, with experience of operational delivery, ensuring high quality and safe services to vulnerable adults, with the ability to provide clear leadership to your team.

As the Chief Executive of SCCT, you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and effective management to drive the mission, development, and impact of the organisation. The Board is seeking a part-time Chief Executive, working three days a week with an FTE salary of £85,000-£90,000 per annum.
There are three main functions of the role: overseeing operation of SCCT’s Almshouses and significant grant-making activities; supporting management of SCCT’s investments (principally a collection of properties, and an investment portfolio), and ambassadorial leadership of the charity in the community.

- Leading on the development and implementation of the EDI strategy

- Develop and manage SCCT’s budget and five-year forecast
- Report on financial performance to the Board and stakeholders
- Liaise with auditors and external auditors
- Manage investments, oversee major transactions and manage performance of investment partners and advisors
- Identify potential risks and challenges and ensure effective systems, processes and procedures are in place for mitigation.
- Operate SCCT in a manner which delivers long-term sustainability of this historic charity.

- Plan; manage; deliver; monitor and maintain oversight of LTT’s Trust and Foundation fundraising portfolio, activities and opportunities. Target is to raise in excess of £300,000 per annum from UK and International Trusts, Foundations, other Institutional Donors and individuals in 2025-6 and increase by £40,000 a year thereafter.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This position will focus on sourcing and developing potential national and international funders who provide single and multi-year grants in excess of £10,000 including those who do not accept unsolicited grants.
Duties include:
- Develop and manage opportunity pipelines of prospective funders, planning introductions.
- Write compelling, concise, well-presented, tailored approaches and grant applications in Word and Canva.
- Liaise with the Operations team, to gather the relevant information for grant applications (e.g. data, case studies, imagery etc).
- Ensure systems are kept up to date with all details of grant application documents, progress and outcomes and any other interactions with funders.
- Work with partners in Tanzania to offer them support and guidance
- Draft programme reports for projects for which you have raised funds.
- Contribute with other team members to the organisational budgeting process, by producing a detailed breakdown of opportunities and likelihood of success.
- Contribute to production of key external documents which may impact Trust and Foundation fundraising e.g. Annual Report & Accounts, Impact Report.
- Attend team meetings at least twice a year
- Attend relevant third-party events/training as required.

Overall purpose

The team works across all areas of the organisation to improve processes, unlock efficiencies through automation and generate insights from data. They ensure that data is utilised to inform any innovations or refinements to our services.
The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial manager with a high level of data literacy. We are looking for someone strategic, highly organised and a strong people and team manager. They will be confident at communicating data in a variety of ways to a large range of audiences, identifying key take-aways and the broader implications of the findings on our clients and programming. They will also be able to train others in key data analysis and communication skills.

In order to achieve our vision we need a highly capable Director of Finance to build and improve on our high-performing finance function and to drive forward operational excellence.
Reporting directly into the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our financial strategy, long-term financial planning, and developing commercial strategies to maximise income and operating contribution. You will also have responsibility of cash management, risk management and governance. You will be the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for the organisation and will lead on Property and Procurement.

The charity was founded in 2014 in memory of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our educational programmes reach thousands of students, parents and safeguarding professionals each year.
The Project
Over the last few years, the Breck Foundation worked closely with Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Surrey and Tower Hamlets to train cadets as ‘Breck Ambassadors’, equipping them with the training needed to talk in schools to their peers about staying safe online and the key signs of grooming.
We are proud to take this successful project further having secured funding with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) to recruit and train up to 30 ‘Youth Ambassadors’ (for online safety) in schools across Sussex. The Youth Ambassadors will learn how to tell Breck’s story and empower young people with the tools they need to stay safe online. Working closely with schools to enable the students to become Online Safety Ambassadors for their school community, advocate for their peers and to be a voice of expertise and counsel. You will work with schools and community groups to generate impact through Breck’s story (on online grooming) and other important topics related to children’s online safety.
This flagship project for the OSPCC will launch in April 2025 (Coordinator starts in January 2025) and run for at least 12 months, with potential funding up to three years. We hope it will set a precedent for others to follow our lead and develop similar programmes for young people across the UK.

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.
Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.
As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.

Overall purpose
Your primary responsibility will be to lead Breaking Barriers’ employment programme in Birmingham and the West Midlands, and support the Senior Employment Services Manager and Director of Services in ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in the support we provide to clients.

You should have at a demonstrable track record of transferrable work experience in coordinating service delivery, projects or programmes, or another relevant field. Equally important is a demonstrable commitment to working with marginalised populations who face barriers to employment, particularly refugees.
