Overall Responsibilities:
·Having overall responsibility for the smooth and safe running of our operations across all premises on a day-to-day basis, working with the staff and volunteers to ensure safe working practices, safe equipment, and effective communication between teams
·Actively overseeing the effective implementation of all Borehamwood Foodbank policies and procedures, especially those relating to Health and Safety and Safeguarding.
·Exploring and developing fundraising strategies whilst forming stronger links with businesses and organisations in the local community.

Managerial Responsibilities:
·Line Manager to all employees at the Foodbank

·Carrying out risk assessments across all activities ensuring policies and procedures are being adhered to.

Office Responsibilities:
·Maintaining the efficient functioning of the foodbank offices, including buying of stationary and other materials as required. Checking that all equipment is functioning correctly
·Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness
·Reporting any issues that require repair or replacement relating to the premises. Agreeing a course of action and following it up
·Assisting the Treasurer with payments to vendors and other suppliers, petty cash and bank payments if required
·Ensuring all necessary Foodbank documentations (e.g. registration and insurance certificates) are up-to-date
·Coordination of information for regular publication on our website /crowdfunding /Facebook and other Social Media accounts
General Activities:
·Assisting the Chair and Trustees in their communications with partner agencies
·Attending external Trussell Trust meetings/ training sessions as required

Job purpose
To lead the RSS’s commercial activities and develop new products and services that meet the needs of our growing membership and wider community.
Key responsibilities
Understanding needs and the changing external environment
- Develop understanding of the preferences and needs of statisticians and data professionals, and others interested in data and statistics, at an individual and organisational level, to evolve our products and services and align our commercial activities to those preferences and needs
- Undertake research to identify new target markets for commercial products and services
- Undertake research to understand competitors and benchmark RSS products and services
- Monitor and respond to developments and emerging trends in charities, membership organisations and other learned societies, and in statistics/data science/AI to ensure that our commercial offerings remain timely and relevant

Development of strategies and plans

Conferences and events
- Oversee the development and operation of the RSS conferences and events programme

- Convene and lead cross-RSS groups to develop, share and review plans and activities and identify opportunities for synergy and collaboration
- Work with heads-of and other teams across the organisation to support related objectives

Working for the RSS
Pension and benefits
Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). A training budget, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance programme are also available.
Location
The RSS office is in central London. We offer flexible working arrangements, and this is a hybrid role with on average two days a week working in the office. In person attendance for certain meetings is required (including all staff/team meetings and governance/committee meetings that take place in person). Limited travel within the UK and internationally may be required.
Working hours
35 per week full-time. Applications for job shares, part-time and flexible working will also be considered.
Holidays
25 days per annum, plus bank holidays and an additional shut down between Christmas and New Year.
Probation
This post is subject to a six-month probation period.

About the role:
As Chief Executive Officer you will have overall responsibility for operational delivery and strategic development. This involves people leadership, financial planning including fundraising, internal and external communications and partnerships, effective use of data and information, and organisational development.

Your main duties will include:
• Develop, implement, and oversee the vision and strategy in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
• Work closely with the Head of Creative to oversee delivery of creative provision, supporting and guiding staff to develop a high-quality programme for participants.
• Develop and maintain key strategic partnerships, including with leading cultural institutions and with the health and social care sector.
• Lead the staff team, including maintaining responsibility for recruitment, staff development and supervision, enabling the team to deliver high quality support and programmes for participants.
• Responsible for ensuring that organisational change is delivered successfully, with a focus on maintaining a positive culture where staff, volunteers and participants feel heard and involved.
• Financial management, fundraising, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
• Charity and organisational compliance, including Charity Commission requirements, health and safety, safeguarding, employment and GPDR legislation.
About you:
We are looking for a confident leader who wants to work with us to ensure we are a high performing, sustainable organisation. You will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:
• Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and barriers to accessing services faced by LGBTQ+ people, people who sex work and those experiencing homelessness, often in combination with other needs.
• Experience of working at a senior level within either an arts and/or health and social care charity.
• Knowledge of adult safeguarding procedures.
• A strong track record of fundraising for either arts and/or or social care provision.
• Knowledge and understanding of the VCSE sector, health and social care support and provision for marginalised communities.
• Experience of leading, managing, and motivating teams at all levels, building working relationships with colleagues, and demonstrating personal commitment to organisational and staff development.
• Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, with an ability to represent the charity externally and work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Experience of managing multiple funding streams, working within tight financial parameters, and producing detailed financial budgets.
