Background
Around the world, public resources are being raised and spent unfairly and ineffectively, leaving millions of people without access to the quality public goods and services they need to thrive. Governments often make public resource decisions without much consultation or information from the public. Meanwhile, those with power and privilege very effectively influence government decisions in their favour.
Our goal is to make governments raise and spend public money more so that everyone has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive and get ahead. To achieve this, The International Budget Partnership (IBP) partners with budget analysts, community organizers, and advocates in 120 countries to advance public budget systems that work for people. Together, we generate data, advocate for reform, and build the skills and knowledge of people so that everyone can have a voice in public money decisions that impact their lives. For more than 25 years we have built a global network of partners that promote the public’s right to have a say in public finance. More recently we have scaled up our impacts to help communities drive change in how governments both raise and spend public resources and to inform decisions to ensure those resource translate into quality services—from healthcare to clean water.
Purpose of Role
IBP seeks a Director of Fundraising to drive our organization's resource development and financial sustainability. Working at the highest levels of the organization, this leader will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure multi-year, multi-million-dollar commitments from major international donors. As a key member of the senior team, the Director will provide strategic leadership while managing hands-on fundraising activities, mentor a dedicated fundraising team, and coordinate closely with the Executive Director, Executive Team, Country Directors, Initiative Managers and Advisory Council. REF-219960
You don’t need to tick every box; if you care about making a difference, we want to hear from you.
Ever looked at the way healthcare works and thought, this isn’t reaching the people who need it most? Or felt frustrated that the same barriers keep showing up, even though we know what would help?
This role is about changing that.
We’re looking for someone who wants to challenge the way things are done, not for the sake of it, but because the system isn’t working for too many people. You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you do need to believe that physical activity should be a standard part of healthcare, especially for people who face the biggest barriers.
Your job will be to work alongside decision-makers to push for better, fairer systems. You’ll use evidence and real-world insights to show what’s possible and work closely with our Health Inequalities Officer – Community to make sure lived experience leads to real change.
If you care about making an impact, if you’re the kind of person who sees a problem and wants to fix it rather than accept it, we’d love to hear from you.
Role Outcomes -
1. Health systems integrate physical activity into pathways as a standard practice.
2. Marginalised communities are meaningfully represented in decision-making processes.
3. Innovative pilot projects demonstrate effective approaches and influence system-wide adoption.
4. Evidence-based policy recommendations drive improvements in health pathways.
5. Systems respond proactively to community insights and are challenged to address inequalities.
What does this mean day to day?
Your duties will tie directly to the outcomes above, and you’ll have plenty of freedom to manage these tasks.
Your tasks could include:
- Collaborating with stakeholders to embed physical activity in health services with a specific focus on the most marginalised groups.
- Identifying spaces in health which are not supporting our focus communities and using evidence and community insights to influence system improvements.
- Developing and managing prototypes alongside the Health Inequalities Officer – Community to test and showcase solutions.
- Acting as a critical friend to health systems, constructively challenging practices. Advocating for policy changes informed by robust evidence and lived experience.
