About us
Who we are
The French Hospital is incorporated by Royal Charter. It provides almshouse accommodation primarily for those of Huguenot descent who are in need and are resident in Great Britain.
Our vision is a world in which The French Hospital is acknowledged as being in the top-tier of almshouse providers. Accommodation is fit for purpose, enabling residents to operate independently for longer. Residents enjoy their quality of life, and loneliness and isolation are uncommon. The French Hospital is known and well supported at a local, regional and national level.
Our Mission is to provide quality almshouse accommodation that enables independent living, encourages involvement in the wider community and actively reduces loneliness and isolation.
In 2018, the French Hospital celebrated its 300th anniversary. The Almshouse is centrally situated, next to Rochester Cathedral. Next door to us is the first ever Huguenot Museum in Great Britain.
