Key responsibilities  

It is a hugely exciting time to be working in the online safety field. New regulation created by the Online Safety Act is set to significantly increase companies’ duties to keep users safe, especially children. At the same time, the online issues which families are contending with continue to evolve at pace: from mis- and dis-information in the age of generative AI, to increasing volumes of misogynistic online abuse, and data and privacy risks to name just a few.

There is cross-party consensus on the importance of tackling these issues, and a real appetite for practical, evidence-led solutions.

Against this backdrop, and ahead of a new government, Internet Matters is recruiting a Policy Manager to help ensure that our voice is heard in these conversations, advocating for the interests of children and families to be put first. This wide-ranging role will include:

• Delivering policy projects on particular issues or themes (e.g. reports, briefings, roundtable events) – and supporting projects from other teams which have policy components. The successful candidate will author external-facing outputs, with support from the wider team.

• Stakeholder engagement, public affairs and influencing – maintaining and developing a network of contacts across Government, Parliament, regulators, the third sector and industry. Identifying opportunities to push forward our agenda with key decision-makers, including through active participation in meetings and events.

• Reactive policy work – e.g. monitoring the policy landscape, writing blogs, producing briefings, responding to consultations. 

• Supporting the successful running of our Expert Advisory Panel and Vulnerable Users Working Group, e.g. though producing minutes of discussions, diarising meetings, sourcing speakers, compiling agendas, etc. 

• Contributing your ideas to team discussions about the overarching strategy for our policy and research work.

About you 

The successful candidate will have professional experience of working in policy, public affairs, or a closely related field. Knowledge of online safety/tech policy would be beneficial, but is not a requirement.

You may have worked for another charity/not-for-profit, a trade association, in government or in Parliament. You are excited by the opportunities of working in a small organisation, where everyone lends a hand to deliver key priorities, and where you can contribute very actively to our wider thinking and strategy.

Sometimes your work may focus on one or two of the key responsibilities listed above more than the others, in line with organisational need and external developments. We are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable with embracing all aspects of the job, with support, even though you may well have a preference for (or greater experience in) certain aspects of it. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have experience of public affairs and influencing work, given that external outreach is likely to be a significant focus for us in the year ahead, but please do still apply if your experience lies more elsewhere (e.g. writing reports).

Skills, knowledge and experience

• Professional experience of working in policy, public affairs, or a closely related field.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated membership marketer with excellent communication and copywriting skills to help improve member engagement and retention and grow membership at the Library.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will join a small and busy team in the Membership department. Passionate about creating engaging copy for different audiences and channels, you will have a good level of experience with e-communications, e-software, data reporting and CRMs. You will have a background in membership marketing, ideally within an arts/cultural or charity organisation, and experience in implementing marketing retention campaigns to meet set targets. You will also have experience assisting with the delivery of events and be available to work at Library events as needed.

You will have strong writing skills with attention to detail and an ability to identify and produce engaging stories. The Programme Officer is responsible for leading and managing BelEve’s youth development programmes, activities, and services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth empowerment.

Reporting to the Programme Director, this role will support the strategic planning, programme development, staff supervision, community engagement, and advocacy to ensure the successful implementation and impact of BelEve youth-focused initiatives.

You will need to be a strong team player with a genuine passion for social mobility and dedication. You’ll be interviewing patients who have been recently discharged from hospital to capture their experiences of hospital discharge and follow-up support. You’ll collate and report on their feedback, so it can be used by the teams of professionals working together to ensure discharge and post-discharge support works effectively for all. You'll have a key role in liasing with an integrated team of professionals to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the project and ongoing compliance with data processing agreements. 

We're a small, driven team with a big role. The ideal postholder will be dynamic, flexible, self-motivated and most importantly, great and building rapport and talking to patients and families about their experiences. You'll be able to demonstrate your experience of working with people, communities and the professionals that provide their care. You'll also have a track record of working to, and meeting project deadlines and show a strong understanding and experience of compliance with GDPR and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults.  

You'll present evaluations and insight and report on the impact of our work, demonstrating the positive difference Healthwatch Milton Keynes makes to its beneficiaries.

The role of a Community Fundraising Executive is raising charitable donations, by building meaningful and engaging relationships to work with the communities we serve in the West Midlands. Purpose of the job:

• Supervise income generation through a diverse range of sources including, but not limited to, corporate and community fundraising and grants and trust applications
• Delivery of marketing and communications across the charity

Knowledge, training and experience:

I have a really exciting, newly created Communications Manager role with a small Arts and Community charity, where you will come in as a Communications expert, and build their strategy from scratch. You will work with an established organisation, helping them to reach the next level and reach wider audiences. The role is unique in that you can be strategic but also hands-on.

You will immerse yourself in the different spaces and meet the teams across London, and help share and tell the story of the charity. They are looking for a communications expert, who has developed strategies previously, and who are passionate about the arts, media and creative industries.

The role can be offered as either part-time or full-time.

The charity operates as a solution for otherwise vacant property, through charitable occupation. This can range from short term 18 months to 3 years or longer term 3 – 10 years. They currently have over 500 affordable artist workspaces, and 5 project spaces where they provide a programme of arts and educational events.

• Salary £35,000 – £39,000 pro rata

• Benefits: Holiday Entitlement (as well as Christmas period and bank holidays), Pension Scheme (you can opt out if you wish to). Commitment to your development, with quarterly meetings to discuss ongoing progress, address issues and revaluate objectives.

• Working either 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
• Initial 6 month rolling contract, with the view to going permanent.
• Location: Flexible working from home, and from their London office spaces. Predominantly in Peckham and Woolwich.
• Expectation to attend 4 or more events per month outside of working hours.
