About FLEX:
Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) is a research and policy organisation working towards an end to labour exploitation. FLEX seeks to achieve this vision through the prevention of labour abuses, protection of the rights of those affected or at risk of exploitation and by promoting best practice responses to labour exploitation through research and evidence-based advocacy. FLEX is a small organisation that packs a big punch in terms of policy change and influencing.
About the role:
In this role you will be a key part of FLEX’s policy team and responsible for leading on the implementation of FLEX’s Communications Strategy, ensuring that FLEX’s communications help progress our strategic aims. You will develop comms outputs and work with internal and external contacts to produce content and conduct strategic comms work. This role involves tracking analytics, maintaining relevant records, and working with the press and other media partners to reach our audiences.
Key responsibilities:
Communications
- Lead on the implementation of FLEX Comms Strategy, tracking, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of the Charity’s communications channels.
- Liaise with team members and external colleagues, as relevant, to conduct strategic communications planning and work.
- Maintain a comms workplan for key outputs and coordinate FLEX’s communications, including research publications, policy briefings, blogs, etc.
- Manage FLEX’s website and digital media accounts, and work with the wider team to ensure a regular social media presence for FLEX.
- Draft and edit communications outputs for the FLEX team, including blogs, video scripts, and other content.
- Maintain the FLEX website, including its structure and ensuring content is up to date and relevant.
- Devise, draft and circulate external comms outputs (e.g. the FLEX’s newsletter) and explore new ways to communicate our messages to our audiences (e.g. regular mail-shots, google groups, etc.).
- Represent FLEX and act as first point of contact for press enquiries, provide background information to journalists on relevant areas, and signpost to relevant staff as per FLEX’s press protocol.
- Produce visual content using relevant software (e.g. Canva, Piktochart, etc.).
- Develop contact management systems and/or databases (e.g. dissemination lists, media contact lists, etc.).
- Undertake media monitoring of salient issues for the team and use this monitoring to identify opportunities and new contacts.
Project management
- Design, plan, and deliver comms activities against targets;
- Manage relevant project budgets;
- Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan for comms objectives and produce progress and learning reports for internal and external purposes.
Other
- Scope, draft and support fundraising bids and reports to donors relevant to this role.
- Represent FLEX and networks at external meetings, as required;
- Undertake any other duties within the context of the role as may be determined by your line manager.

Overview of Role:
CAT is entering an exciting phase in its development. In recent years the organisation has achieved significant growth in student numbers, membership and fundraising income. We have ambitious plans for a transformative project, Cynefin: a flagship, sustainable Welsh visitor attraction and skills hub which is included in the portfolio for the Mid Wales Growth Deal.
The Head of Communications will be a member of the Project Management Team contributing to developing the vision, strategy and business case for Cynefin, supporting the capital fundraising campaign and leading on the engagement and communications.
Main Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership of CAT’s marketing, policy and communications (internal and external).
- Liaise with key stakeholders, represent CAT at events and act as media spokesperson on behalf of the organisation when required.
- Line manage, lead, support and motivate the marketing and communications team.
- Set, monitor and report on team and individual goals and KPIs.
- To procure, brief and manage relationships with external agencies including creative, PR agencies etc in order to deliver strategic objectives.

- Oversee/sign off key communications products, such as our supporter magazine, Clean Slate, newsletters, promotional materials, the annual report and press releases.
- Manage the brand to ensure consistent communication of the organisation’s vision, mission and values across all channels and to ensure that the integrity of the brand is maintained and promoted at all times.
- Put in place effective systems, policies and procedures for the effective management of CAT’s policy, communications and marketing work.
- To carry out research and analysis to improve our understanding of our target audiences and develop products to meet their needs.

Summary of the role
Following the successful conclusion of the Making the Exceptional Happen campaign (which raised over £71m) attention is turning to a future campaign in support of the University’s 2030 strategy which has three core themes: sustainability (greener); improving human health and wellbeing (healthier); and creating a fair and inclusive society (fairer).
Aligned to the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), you will plan, develop and produce fundraising proposals to trusts and foundations of a consistently high quality. These bids will be tailored to the needs of a wide range of funders based both in the UK and internationally. You will influence the trust and foundation fundraising strategy and take an active role annual planning. You will have direct responsibility for securing significant new funds to support the university’s strategic objectives. You will work closely with academics and senior university leaders to create funding proposals. You will be expected to build personal relationships with key trust and foundation contacts (trustees/administrators) and to find ways to open doors to new trusts and foundations by exploring the networks of academics and supporters. The work will focus particularly on major proposals for grants of £100k or more.
With a significant track record of securing major gifts from Trusts and Foundations through your own endeavours and delivering against financial targets, you will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise confidentially and diplomatically both externally and internally at all levels and to a range of audiences.

The Role
As Project Lead for United Learning, you have the opportunity to make a difference on a large scale.
In this role you will have two key responsibilities – to ensure the successful delivery of our group wide stakeholder surveys (to pupils, staff and parents) and to support with organisation-wide performance management. This role provides a unique opportunity to work with teams across United Learning’s central office and with schools.
You will ensure the successful delivery of our surveys programme including working with our partner, Edurio, to manage all aspects of technical set up and supporting schools to ensure they are prepared to deliver these surveys locally. You will shape and oversee the delivery of analysis based on survey results to ensure we are using this data to inform priority areas and improvements. You will look for ways to improve the set-up processes as well as how we use the data derived from the surveys.
Supporting with performance management you will monitor progress against our five-year strategy, annual plans and group wide KPIs, providing timely management information to our Executive Board and Trustees to ensure they are aware of key issues and have visibility of progress towards our strategic objectives.
As part of Strategy and Performance you will also have the opportunity to be involved in projects outside these main areas of responsibility.

About You
We are seeking someone with experience or an interest in strategic planning and performance management in complex organisations. You will have the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, be adaptable to change and work well under pressure. - A proven track record in digital marketing encompassing SEO, social media marketing, PPC campaigns and content creation.
- Experience in creating and managing social media channels and content creation.
- Demonstrably up to date with emerging digital trends and an interest in online community building.
- Experience using social and digital reporting tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, Sprout Social and Facebook Business Manager.

VOICES are excited to be seeking our first full time fundraiser to support our growth and development. We are looking for an individual who has relevant sector experience, a good knowledge and understanding of fundraising and a commitment to working in a trauma informed way. As a survivor led organisation, we are looking for someone who shares our ethos and will be proactive in consulting with our Lived Experience Group(s).
You will work closely with the CEO to help secure the long-term future of VOICES, through expanding and diversifying our income generation.
With a good understanding and knowledge of grants and trusts fundraising, you will also help direct our future – with consideration to community fundraising, charity shop and/or social enterprise. Whilst we’ve many ideas about what it might look like, no decisions have yet been made and we’re keen to work collaboratively with our new fundraiser and hear their vision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, oversee and actively lead the implementation of a fundraising strategy which exploits a wide range of fundraising opportunities, maintains diverse and sustainable income streams, and builds the organisation’s voluntary income capacity to meet its aims and objectives.
- Oversee and support the development of fundraising, with consideration to diversifying our income avenues.
- Working closely with the CEO and Finance Assistant, maintain an overview of funding across the organisation and analyse income sources to manage the fundraising strategy, assess progress against targets and contribute towards our financial capacity.
- Absorb the knowledge of the team and consult with them regarding priorities, representation, approach and model.
- Work with the CEO to develop high quality grants and trusts applications (our current main source of income).
- Build on our existing corporate partnerships and establish / develop new corporate partnerships for VOICES.
- Attend Finance Committee meetings and the Board of Trustees, reporting on fundraising and progress against the strategy.
- Help to grow the name of VOICES, through use of relationships, partnerships, marketing and communications.
- Work closely with the Centre Administrator to agree a planned approach to social media.
- Working with the VOICES team, consider the role of volunteers in VOICES – taking management responsibility for any fundraising volunteers.
- In line with our trauma-informed ethos, adopt a trauma-informed approach.
- Work with clients, including the Lived Experience Group, to hear their ideas for fundraising and enable their participation in events / volunteer opportunities where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of key stakeholders including Clients, funders (including trusts, companies, major donors), Trustees and volunteers.
