Charity People is partnering with Young Lives vs. Cancer to recruit an interim part time Media and PR Officer to join their team.
Joining the Media Team at a key time as the organisation embarks on the first stage of its North Star vision which will see them working with partner organisations to close gaps in the current provision of care for young people and their families by 2035.
Contract: Nine month interim role, four days (28 hours) per week
Salary: £34,616 FTE (outside London); £36,512 FTE (London)
Location: Home based with some travel to London or Bristol - ideally around one to two days per month

This is an important role where you will lead on communicating a portfolio of key areas of Young Lives vs Cancer's policy work, fundraising activities and services, to a wide range of audiences, identifying reactive opportunities and through targeted media campaigns.
Core responsibilities within the role will include:
- Manage media partnerships such as national media fundraising appeals or campaigns
- Establish quality effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Media and News outlets, journalists and charity partners
- Participate in the reactive news desk rota, responding to urgent media enquiries and providing advice to staff and senior managers
- Take advantage of opportunities to provide and publish reactive comment, opinion and content in a timely manner to involve Young Lives vs Cancer in news stories and debates that align with the charity's priorities
- Brief national, regional and local media (print, broadcast and online) on Young Lives vs Cancer and its activities. Support the Head of Media and PR to implement reputation management plans
- Brief staff spokespeople (including senior staff and specialist social workers) ahead of media interviews to ensure they are prepared and ready to speak on message
- Use data and research to engage media and news outlets
- Produce messaging, position statements, prepare for media interviews and deal with complex reactive press enquiries
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the charity's strategic media plan - lead a strategic development priority area, working across the team and organisation
- Develop and implement creative, effective media plans for campaigns and projects, in-line with the charity's overall strategic objectives
- Gather and develop stories and take a proactive role in identifying opportunities in online and offline media to place news and feature stories on Young Lives vs Cancer activities, campaigns, and services
- Initiate and maintain good working relationships with a network of editors, journalists and broadcasters, especially within the health, education and social care media, and ensure they are briefed appropriately on Young Lives vs Cancer activities and issues
- Write press releases, features, articles, opinion pieces and statements; ensuring these reflect Young Lives vs Cancer's values and key messages.
- Work closely with the Brand and Marketing Communications team to understand local business priorities and effectively coordinate and plan activity.
The Media and PR Officer will have previous experience of working in a Media and PR role. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of media monitoring and evaluation; the ability to engage positively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders; excellent storytelling ability; and the ability to translate complex information in clear, understandable messages.

We are a hybrid team, based out of our office in Kennington, London, with most of the team being in the office once or twice a week. Key Activity Areas
External Engagement & Relationship Building

Lead on our external engagement with churches across the UK, growing the number of churches engaging in the mission of Medair through giving, prayer and awareness raising.

Develop strategies for raising awareness, creating connections and establishing relationships with an increasing number of new churches with a bias towards those with a younger congregation.

Collaborate with the Medair UK Director, Trustees and Senior Leadership across Medair in the relationships they hold and can grow.

Steward relationships with caseload of Churches through effective communication, timely reports and creative touchpoints so that depth of relationship is established with churches that have donated, prayed and engaged with the mission of Medair.

Work towards an agreed income target each year of churches that are giving towards emergency appeals and contributing unrestricted funds towards our work.

Deliver Medair’s presence at Christian events including the oversight of volunteers, speakers and staff to maximize our presence at these opportunities.

Cultivate regular speaking opportunities for yourself and the wider team to deliver in churches, prayer networks and regional gatherings introducing people to the mission of Medair and equipping people to pray for those in crises.
Resource Development & Volunteer Management

Strengthen Medair UK’s engagement with churches by developing profile raising resources and ensuring all fundraising appeals are designed and delivered to maximise church take-up.

Oversee the delivery of our monthly prayer email, and ad-hoc prayer resources, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues in Medair UK and the wider group to commission resources that will engage Christian audiences.

With the support of the Engagement Support Officer co-ordinate all requests for speakers in churches ensuring that a staff member or alumni, is available and well briefed ahead of time.

Oversee the management the Medair UK alumni network – developing events, online and in-person, personal touchpoints and communications that will encourage this warm audience to keep enthused about Medair and growing our awareness in there networks.
Church Management

Manage the related tasks of the Engagement Support Officer whose role is split with 60% on Trusts and Foundations, and 40% on Churches and Alumni. This is matrix-management as the Engagement Support Officer is line managed by the Grants Manager.

Oversee the receipting and acknowledgement of all financial support from churches, using creative ways to thank and steward churches and supporters who generously donate.

Maintain an up-to-date and accurate record of church relationships on our CRM (salesforce), monitoring engagement events, income targets, key contacts and audience growth.
Internal Liaison

Liaise with Medair’s Heads of Country Programmes, Country Directors and Communications Officers in order to gather information and data for the purposes of applying and reporting to funders.

Foster dynamic and mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues across Medair International and the Affiliate Offices, readily sharing engagement products, resources and generously collaborating when there are international opportunities.

About you

About the role
This role sits within CARE International UK’s Individual Giving team, but you’ll work across the entire Fundraising and Comms department.
Along with your team of three, you will play a vital role in support fundraising teams to better understand their audiences and target their communications. You’ll need to be comfortable with change, as this role requires the postholder to design, scope and implement significant improvements to processes and technology to ensure our data and reporting practices are efficient, accurate and fit for the future.
To be successful in this role you’ll need to be a creative thinker, proactive and a confident communicator – as well as your excellent data manipulation and analysis skills.

About the role
We’re looking to recruit a Philanthropy Campaigns Manager to join our Supporter Income & Engagement team. This role will support our already outstanding team and our strategy to shift our focus to a principal giving level (gifts of £250k+ with a growing pipeline of multi-million-pound global partners) as well as identify transformational opportunities to accelerate solutions to bring our world back to life.
As Philanthropy Campaigns Manager you will lead the development and co-ordination of a high-value fundraising and communications campaign leveraging major support from corporate partnerships, public-sector partners and a philanthropic audience. This plan will support our vision to halt deforestation in the world’s most important forest basins and deliver a major moment at COP30. It will involve drawing upon cross-organisational expertise from across WWF. This will include managing and driving a campaign pipeline, designing and managing an engagement plan to maximise high-level engagement opportunities and delivering excellent stewardship to unlock multi-million investment from global funders. The role will act as a coordinator across the high-value income streams but play an active role in the delivery of philanthropic income.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Extensive experience in high-value fundraising and a track record of success in securing significant major gifts and funding partnerships (£250k+).
- Experience of developing complex, multi-national, multi-stakeholder cases for support.
- Ability to work with senior volunteers and people of influence.
- Knowledge of cultivation activities, including events and collateral that meet the needs and interest of a high value audience.
- Understanding of contemporary fundraising techniques and a genuine desire to innovate.
- A knowledge or experience of delivering events or campaigns at COP or other similar global fora.

The role of Communications and Marketing Coordinator sits within the Communications Team at Kids Matter. As we seek to grow our audiences, our influence and ultimately our impact, it’s an exciting time to join the team. This role will predominantly be responsible for the day-to-day fulfilment of email marketing, maintaining our social media presence and ensuring the website is kept up to date.
Working closely with both the Head of Communications and Content Manager, this role will also be heavily involved in supporting other areas of the organisation, particularly fundraising and partnerships.

About the role
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator role involves:
- Being responsible for the full creation process (building, testing, QA, data and distribution) of email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp.
- Helping plan and execute fundraising campaigns by creating audience-centric user journeys.
- Bringing new ideas and leverage new opportunities within social media to enable Kids Matter to further build its profile.
- Being responsible for ensuring the Kids Matter website is regularly updated with fresh and relevant content.

As an IDVA, you will be able to effectively work with men experiencing domestic abuse, and supporting them to increase their safety and reduce harm. You will be providing high-quality, front-line service to prioritise risk, primarily focusing on males aged 18+.

Focus on and prioritise high, medium and low risk cases and provide a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service, through individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support. Work with victims of domestic abuse to assist them in accessing services to keep them and their children safe.
Understand the legal framework relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, including the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board. Support clients through the family and/or criminal justice system.

Role Summary

Requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, environmental studies, climate change, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, grant writing, or fundraising, ideally within the WASH, climate change, or environment sectors.
- Strong knowledge of Global Affairs Canada’s Results-Based Management framework and experience securing multi-year funding from institutional donors.
- Demonstrated skills in proposal writing, budgeting, and partnership management.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to travel internationally 3–4 times per year.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Fluency in French.
- Experience living or working in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Africa or Asia.

The Worker Support Centre (WSC) is a Scotland based charity that promotes decent work and prevents exploitation. We support marginalised and isolated workers in labour sectors where there is a high risk of abuse and exploitation. We work in partnership with workers to build power to secure and advance workplace rights. We prevent human trafficking for forced labour by acting to reduce the risks of worker exploitation. WSC values include: respect for human rights, representation, transparency, equality and innovation.
WSC support includes advice, mediation, advocacy and assisted reporting to enforcement agencies. Our worker engagement informs policy change activity to address harms faced by those in high-risk work. In 2023 and 2024 WSC activities were targeted at workers in seasonal agriculture on the UK Seasonal Worker visa (SWV). During this time, we provided advice, support, and information to 1031 people in relation to the SWV. WSC is now embarking on a new project to engage workers in health and social care to advance care workers’ rights through worker education and power sessions.
About the role
This role is focussed on advancing care workers’ rights by supporting WSC’s peer engagement work including actively conducting outreach to workers and facilitating worker education and power sessions. In this role you will support WSC meet two of its four core objectives to work together with workers to claim spaces for power and representation in decision making; and to build the field of knowledge about workers and their experiences to influence policy. This role also includes handling a small caseload, providing health and social care workers with information, support and impartial advice with any issues that may arise during outreach or sessions. This role will work closely together with our Peer Engagement team and Outreach Caseworker.
WSC strives to achieve representation of individuals with lived experience of the issues on which we work at all levels of our organisation and actively promotes applications from individuals with experience of the issues on which we work. · Actively support workers to engage in advocacy, including by providing worker-centred briefings on advocacy processes and meetings, ensuring meaningful participation and leadership by workers.

Person Specification
1) KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Understanding of how NGOs operate and knowledge of the issues on which WSC works: labour rights, migrant rights, organising, anti-trafficking and human rights.
- Experience in worker organising, engaging with workers and upholding labour rights, or support provision to workers through casework.
2) QUALIFICATIONS

- Fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Working competence in at least one other language spoken by migrant social care workers (eg Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali)
- Experience of work in a precarious sector (eg social care, agriculture, hospitality)
- Experience of work in social care
- Experience of handling a caseload and providing impartial, confidential advice - 1 year
- Experience of facilitating public outreach sessions/events - 1 year
- Experience of communication to wide audiences via a range of social media platforms (eg Tik-tok, Instagram, Telegram, X, Bluesky) - 2 years
- Experience of building and developing relationships with community and civil society organisations - 1 year
