We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Deputy Manager, with experience of working with adults with a learning disability/autism and complex needs to join Outward.

This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your skills to support the Team manager in coaching and mentoring the staff team, and also embedding high standards in the running of the service. The successful candidate will be working alongside frontline staff to support the skills building needed to increase the independence of people with autism and/or learning disabilities and behaviours of concern. Responding to the Transforming Care agenda this service is providing a real opportunity for people to thrive and enjoy a good quality of life, as active and valued members of their community.

Outward’s autism and PBS specialist services have a strong reputation across London, where we support people to live full and active lives, with support designed around the person’s personal ambitions and choices. PBS training will be provided to develop the successful candidate into a PBS coach, and you will be working closely with our Positive Behaviour Lead to create a culture that promotes Positive Behaviour and Active Support values and practice. The role involves teaching people new skills and ways of communicating which reduces behaviours of concern.

About You

• Experience of managing a service for people with a learning disability/autism and complex needs including behaviours of concern is essential. (E)
• A qualification in Positive Behaviour Support Coaching (BILD accredited), or a willingness to gain the qualifications within the first 3 months of employment is essential. (E)
• You will be an excellent communicator liaising effectively with key stakeholders including the multi-disciplinary and health professionals, family carers and people we support. (E)
• You will have experience of staff management and the ability to lead, motivate and develop a large team, ensuring staff are appropriately trained. You will be visible in the service and strive to model best practice and inspire support workers. (E)
• You will be able to think creatively and be adaptable in approaches, with experience of implementing emergency management guidance to support staff. (D)

Main Responsibilities:

· To lead and support safe, reliable, high-quality family support service across the district and integrate with existing provisions to ensure that services are not duplicated and multiagency working is upheld. To ensure communication is established with other services to establish a culture of mutual trust and respect.

· Prioritise referrals, manage work allocations and ensure effective deployment of the workers to ensure service users receive a timely and effective service.

· Ensure all appropriate staff development and core training requirements are fulfilled in the team and contribute to wider training plans for the locality. Foster a culture of continuous development including best practice sharing across teams and districts, involvement in Community of Practice etc. 

• Respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns, demonstrating an understanding of, and always complying with Family Action’s and Gloucestershire procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. As a Mental Health Worker, you will be enabling vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community, by providing flexible and individually tailored support.

The working pattern for this role includes a 5-week rolling rota, working on a 4-5-6 day week pattern. This includes some weekend working. The shift times consist of earlies: 8am-4pm and lates: 2:30pm-10:30pm

Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support actions and capture outcomes in Support and Risk Management files.

Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation

Purpose of the post: 

We are looking for a Community Development Worker with experience supporting with people with their mental health, with significant experience in statutory and/or voluntary sector services, knowledge of the City of London, Hackney and Waltham Forest (or a specific local area or demographic), and strong interpersonal skills.

You will work closely with individuals from Black, African and Caribbean Communities, with serious mental illness (SMI) developing an understanding of complexity in order to provide the most appropriate support.

Working alongside the Director and Clinical Operations Manager you will, be responsible for linking in with Secondary Services in organising and delivering tasks which facilitate an informed and safer hospital discharge and smooth transition into the Community to avoid re-admission.

As a Community Development Worker, you will become a local expert, gathering and sharing information about local opportunities, activities, and support, bringing people together and supporting them to remain confident and independent in their everyday lives.

Main duties and responsibilities: 

1. You will be responsible for linking with Groups and Services to understand the mental health needs across the Community.

2. To work closely with the Hospital Discharge Teams as part of the Discharge process

3. Collectively develop a robust Hospital Discharge plan that will help embed the Clients into the Community.

4. Explore with Secondary Services and other relevant agencies the current provision and identify the gaps and assist IRIE Mind and its partners to develop programmes to meet the identified need. 

5. To raise awareness of the importance of talking about Mental health and seeking support early, especially in the Black, African and Caribbean Communities.

6. To provide information on where to go for additional support upon Discharge

7. Collaboratively develop material with colleagues to distribute to in patients and Clients, families and friends.

8. Regularly organise and support relevant Outreach events to bring people together/make connections.

9. To play a lead role in identifying and initiating Outreach to new client Groups (Young Black Men and Complex needs) and develop new projects.

10. Develop and establish local networks of support that will meet the religious, cultural, occupational, therapeutic and recreational needs of the Clients.

11. To identify partnership opportunities in working with local community colleges, employers, carers, care co-ordinators, and Clients.

12. Consult and liaise with the Mental Health Recovery Teams, Hospital staff, Psychiatric nurses, social workers and other providers in order to promote the service and consult regarding Client progress, achievements and concerns.

13.  To encourage and develop active participation of Clients in the running of IRIE Mind, and in the planning and development of activities,

14.  To develop effective liaison arrangements with statutory and voluntary agencies in the community to enable Clients make full use of community resources in the borough

15.  To manage your own small caseload of complex clients within the Community and in rare cases, their homes.

16. Record all referrals, actions, progress and data via a CRM/Database.

17. Be responsible for maintaining a self-reflective practice and demonstrate self-awareness and effective self-management of stress

18. Assist with the management of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults cases as they arise within the organisation and liaise with the Operation Services Manager and Director and other professional bodies as required by best practice and in law

20.  Manage distressing and challenging situations in a sensitive and non-threatening way to reduce anxieties and promote effective resolutions.

About the role:

We are is looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our London and South East Care Team.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager out of our London and South East team base and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.

Having worked in a stressful and emotional environment you will have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and helping people; and having provided bereavement support to families, you understand processes of grief, loss, and change - and how best to help others deal with its impact.

About the Role

The Connection at St. Martins is based in the heart of London, in the most concentrated area of rough sleeping in the UK.  We have an ambitious strategy to tackle rough sleeping in central London with those people who are most persistently on the streets. Building relationships of trust with clients is at the heart of our work.  To achieve this in practice, we have a fully trauma informed approach across the whole charity with psychologists embedded in our service delivery teams.

Alongside running our busy day centre at Adelaide Street by Trafalgar Square, we are developing our access to accommodation.  This includes a project to extend our scheme in Clapham with a new building during 2025.  The extension will provide 3 additional studio flats and activity spaces.  This is the first in a longer term goal to introduce more accommodation into our service portfolio so that we can house an additional 300 of our Adelaide Street clients by 2028.  We are also keen to develop our links into health, through partnerships with the NHS and other treatment services.  Finally, we would like to further improve our offer for women and for people with No Recourse to Public Funds.

The  work will connect across 3 streams: voter registration; advocacy & campaigns; and political empowerment.

We are looking for a proactive and confident Community Organiser with the following essential skills:

• Demonstrable experience working with local communities at the grassroots level on campaigns.

• Strong commitment to social justice, anti-racism, feminism and LGBTQIA+ equality.

• Event administration skills, including booking venues, inviting speakers and communicating event programmes, as well as dealing with last-minute event changes.

• Good people skills and ability to manage the needs, priorities and differences of a diverse range of communities.

• Knowledge of and interest in the UK political system, in particular of voter eligibility.

• Problem-solver who is able to work both independently and collaboratively in a startup environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

The following experiences would be helpful, although not necessary:

• Knowledge of languages other than English.

• Experience working with migrant communities in the UK.

• Experience working in the UK political space, such as voter registration drives or campaign support.

• Experience facilitating training sessions.

• Experience using design tools (e.g. Canva), editing websites (e.g. Squarespace) and digital organising tools (e.g. Action Network).

Decision-making timeline

We are looking for a Community Organiser to start as soon as possible. The applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an initial online interview. If successful, the final stage will involve an in person interview in central London. Final stage interviews are likely to take place in early January. There will be a practical assessment part of the final interview process, sent by email in good time.

Family and Volunteer Support Worker (Arabic Speaker)

£27,707 per annum, pro-rata (including London weighting).

This is an exciting opportunity for an Arabic Speaking Family and Volunteer Support Worker to deliver a volunteer support service for new parents and their families during antenatal period across the London borough of Camden.

This service provides a programme of support for pregnant women and new parents which includes volunteer face-to-face befriending in the home and community as well as support by phone and video. The aim of the programme is to increase the resilience and emotional wellbeing of new parents who are experiencing isolation and low-level mental health issues

The Family and Volunteer Support Worker will work closely with the Team Leader and our antenatal service as well as in partnership with Children’s Centres/Family HUBS, midwifery, health teams and mental health services.  You must be able travel regularly around London Borough of Camden.

The salary for 21 hours per week is £16,624.40 per annum,
