You might be developing a work experience pathway one day, then working alongside a Companion (formerly homeless adult who lives and volunteers at Emmaus) in a shop and leading by example the next. You’ll supervise work, coach Companions and volunteers to develop their working practices and monitor and report on progress outcomes. You will use your people-skills to work closely together with colleagues to best support the individuals you are working with.
This new project will use a strengths based approach to support participants to develop meaningful work skills, to get more out of their work placements here at Emmaus and to build the professional skills and personal resilience needed to move on into paid employment.

The Spear Centre Manager will work as part of the River Church staff team to oversee the delivery of Spear—an employability programme equipping and empowering unemployed 16-24 year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

Key Responsibilities
Oversight of the Spear Programme
Spear Foundation is a 4-week initial phase, consisting of 2 group sessions plus a 1:1 with each trainee per week, in which we coach young people around skills and mindsets to support them in returning to work or education, and equip them with the skills to stay there.
- Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Assistant Coach.
- Oversee all aspects of the programme coordination and delivery.
- Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report to Resurgo and the church on enrolment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees, as well as their ongoing progress.
Partnership liaison and relationship management
- Build and implement a strategy for developing and maintaining relationships with local referral partners to build the profile of the Spear programme within Ipswich and ensure the young people who would benefit from the programme are able to access it.
- Steward relationships with young people after initial point of contact, to encourage enrolment and ensure a full cohort is enrolled for each programme.
Line management and training
- Manage the Spear Assistant Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
- Work with and be managed by River Church staff locally, and by a Church Partnerships Manager from Resurgo on a national level, to ensure the flourishing of the Spear centre, its team and young people, and to ensure the fulfilment of our shared mission in Ipswich.
- Work with and report to Resurgo teams on KPIs, and use outcomes data to maximise the effectiveness of the programme.
Supporting River Church’s mission and ministry
- Establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement of church members and to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme.
- Work with the Head of Operations and the Fundraising Assistant to prepare grant funding applications for Spear Ipswich, and provide timely grant reporting.
- Attend and participate in the life of River Church, keeping the congregation updated on the Spear programme to ensure it is a seamless part of the church’s missional work.

Key Responsibilities
Spear Programme
- Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work.
- Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear trainees. This includes running application workshops with past trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.
Relationship Management
- Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations.
- You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre.
Church Community
- The Assistant Coach is directly employed by River Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community.
- Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within River Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation.
This role will suit you if you are:

- Manage and develop the Lead Coach and Graduate Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development. This includes weekly 1:1s, performance reviews and regular feedback
- Equip your team to drive change through a data informed approach, and keep them accountable to agreed targets for the Spear Programme
Relationship management [20%]
- Manage great relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, donors, and your Board of Trustees
- Embed into your local church; working closely with your Spear Trustees and congregation, and actively participating in their mission and events
- Partner with the Spear Trustees and assist in implementing their funding strategy by helping to build corporate and donor relationships. For example, by hosting prospective donors in the Training Room
Delivery of the Spear Programme [20%]
- Support group and 1-1 coaching with numerous 16-24-year-olds: equipping them with practical work-ready skills and resilient mindsets
- Provide guidance to the Lead Coach in the training room when dealing with behavioural and safeguarding situations and upskill coaches with consistent coaching feedback
- Use a coaching approach to engage young people in challenging conversations that will enable them to take responsibility and over significant barriers to employment
Operations [10%]
- Liaise with relevant staff regarding site operations and work to resolve any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

Working requirements, salary & benefits
Salary: between £22,300 and £25,300 dependant on location, plus pension scheme

Responsibilities
Supporting young people
You'll deliver our programmes and work one-to-one with care-experienced young people across London. You'll manage a caseload of young people and be a positive role model to those you're supporting.
Working with delivery partners
You’ll be working closely with our delivery partners to ensure the young people are getting the best support out there. Whether that’s liaising with social landlords or local debt advice charities.
Collecting crucial impact data and evidencing impact
You’ll be meticulous in ensuring you collect and report high quality data, understanding that this information is crucial to demonstrating our impact to funders and clients. You’ll ensure your notes and our databases are up to date with accurate information.
Working collaboratively
You'll work closely with other Settle Coaches and the wider team to ensure you are learning from them and they are learning from your experiences. You’ll collaborate with others in order to make decisions. You will contribute to an inclusive working environment for everyone.

What we're looking for
We are looking for a driven individual, with the relevant skills to provide high quality support to a small caseload of young people to ensure we give the very best we can to the young people we work with. We are interested in someone who is passionate about developing their frontline skills and supporting care experienced young people to achieve their goals.
You’ll feel comfortable working with people from a range of backgrounds including other professionals. You will seek opportunities for the young people you support and advocate for them during tricky moments. You will utilise creative thinking to broaden awareness of Settle within our referral partners when opportunity arises.
We are looking for a compassionate individual, with an understanding of the value in collecting high quality data. You are someone who is keen to learn about best practice and incorporate your work into our external communications.
Having recently started delivering support to young people living in the private rented sector, we are particularly interested in applicants with an understanding of this work, and/or experience delivering support to individuals living in the private rented sector as well as the social housing sector.

We are now recruiting for a Lead Coach in Bethnal Green - an outstanding opportunity to work as part of a local church to deliver the Spear Programme.
You’ll be working with the local church to manage the delivery of Resurgo's award-winning Spear Programme. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.
Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]
- Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
- Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room
- Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively
- Handling safeguarding
- Taking a lead on rating the work readiness of the trainees and making sure data is inputted and used correctly on salesforce
- Tracking trainee progress on the dashboards
- Liaising with volunteers for key programme engagement events such as mock interviews and external panels. Leading on briefings and communications with these volunteers
Delivery of Spear Career [20%]
- Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees
Training the Graduate Coach [10%]
- Contributing towards the training and developing of the Graduate Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback
Trainee recruitment [10%]
- Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics
Continuous professional development
- Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and possibly supporting on leading internal training such as Grad Coach Training
Active participation in and support for church team and mission
- As the Spear programme is run in partnership with a local church partner, you will establish a strong personal connection with the church to develop the engagement and backing of church members and help build a strong network of supporters for the Spear programme. As part of this you may be asked to speak at church/events and contribute to prayer meetings as per Resurgo’s Christian ethos and the mission of the church

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children a hope and a future. Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children hope and a future. Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, TLG Therapeutic Support will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences.

About the role
We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.
This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.
You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.
The East Anglia and Bedfordshire regions are areas filled with some of our most committed supporters, but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from Cambridge hospitals, so building relationships with these teams are a must.

The purpose of your role
We’re looking for a Selection Officer to join our award-winning team to deliver our selection processes to enable us to achieve our ambitious mission. You will be responsible for ensuring all candidates are assessed consistently and fairly throughout each stage (application form, online immersive assessment and digital assessment centre) so that we can ensure we recruit talented and diverse individuals committed to the Police Now mission for each of our core programmes.
This is a fast-paced and varied role that will involve working closely with applicants throughout the candidate journey, alongside various internal and external stakeholders, to ensure we meet our targets. Your responsibilities will include delivering selection activity including assessment centres, and quality assuring our selection outcomes. You will be dedicated to delivering an excellent candidate experience at every stage of the selection journey to ensure all candidates have a positive experience with Police Now regardless of the outcome.
Alongside operational delivery, you will work closely with the Recruitment Delivery Manager and Head of Recruitment on future evolutions to our selection processes to ensure we remain market-leading in our approach. This includes designing content, piloting new activities and using data and evaluation to inform future developments and improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Work collaboratively within our Recruitment Delivery sub-team of eight, contributing to a high-performance culture and ensuring a high-quality candidate experience.
- Take a lead role in screening and assessing applicants against the necessary skills and attributes to join a Police Now programme. This includes all stages of the selection process – application form, online immersive assessment and digital assessment centre. Act as a contact point for candidate queries to support them through their application journey and probe for further information related to their eligibility when required.
- Oversee the running of assessment centres in the role of the assessment centre facilitator and/or manager to ensure all candidates receive a positive candidate experience and work with assessors to ensure consistent and fair assessment assessed across all exercises. Ensure timetables are created through our digital platform so all participants and assessors have the information required for their involvement in the assessment centres.
- Act as a main point of contact for assessors and actors, dealing with queries and overseeing scheduling and invoicing. You will also provide training and onboarding for new assessors when required.
- Oversee progress towards specific candidate pipeline targets, flagging areas of concern with a focus on under-represented groups within policing, and implement actions as required to exceed target expectations. Develop and deliver pipeline interventions such as unsubmitted application calls, pre-assessment centre phone calls, group coaching sessions and other tailored communications, so that candidates are fully prepared for each stage of the selection process.
- Support and lead on projects related to process improvement, content design and candidate journey and assessment evolution. This will involve working on developments to our assessment activities and materials when required, gaining stakeholder input into selection criteria and testing new methodology to ensure rigour. Conduct ongoing analysis of parts of the selection process, as well as end of campaign analysis, communicating outputs to relevant stakeholders.
Key requirements
- Motivation and passion for the Police Now mission, values, and working within the policing sector.
- Proven selection and assessment experience, preferably in a high-volume graduate environment or experience working in police recruitment services.
- Experience proactively managing high-volume candidate pipelines in a tailored and strategic way, using insights to improve candidate outcomes and progress to targets.

Equipping and Supporting Spear Centres
- Spend time in Spear Centres to build a presence and trust with the Spear coaches, in order to provide better employment support for trainees.
- Provide additional support to Spear Centres outside of London as they develop their own employer network and local employment events.
- Serving as a liaison between Resurgo, the employer and Spear Centres in collecting and sharing job descriptions, trainee CVs, interview feedback and handover documents for successful hires.
Account Management and Administration
- Conduct due diligence checks on potential employers.
- Sustain links with corporates, employers and charities in order to generate employment opportunities for young people.
- Research and compile the weekly employment email with current vacancies and opportunities (which includes all new Spear Streamlined Centres) and contribute ‘Job of the Week’ to the weekly Spear Bulletin.

- Work with the Resurgo Church Partnerships team to build a pipeline into the Spear Ambassadors group, giving Spear completers a voice in the continuous development of the Spear Programme and encouraging Spear completers to invite those they know to join Spear.
- With the Comms team, identify opportunities for Spear completers to become Brand Ambassadors who promote our work, ensuring success stories are celebrated and feeding into funding applications and reports.
