Purpose of the Job:
This role is within our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm(midday)-11:30pm across all of our boroughs. The shift pattern for this role is 4:30-11:30pm. This will be on a rota basis across support workers.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. This will consist of 1:1 support; de-escalating and providing interventions, signposting for specialised or longer-term support, and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The aim of this service is to de-escalate and prevent further crises.
The objectives of the service include:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
- To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
- To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
- To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
- To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
- To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
- To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
- To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
- To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a person centred and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles and responsibilities.
- Promoting people’ rights and responsibilities
- Working collaboratively with clients to understand their needs and developing flexible and realistic crisis support packages/person centred plans
- Listening to clients and encouraging positive steps towards self-management of crisis and recovery
- Providing advice, information, practical and emotional support to clients
- Proactively recognising the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies e.g. CATT, Emergency Duty Teams, CMHTS, etc
- Engaging with clients to show empathy, inspire hope and promote recovery
- Establishing supportive, empowering and respectful relationships with clients and carers/ family
You will have:
- Minimum of 1 year working in mental health services and with clients experiencing mental health distress and crisis
- Experience of managing challenging behaviour and dealing with clients with complex needs
- Experience of managing safeguarding risks and understanding legal requirements for safeguarding adults and children
- Evidence of continual professional development
- Understanding of the Recovery Model in mental health
- Understanding of the principles of trauma informed care
- Understanding of suicide prevention and safety planning
- Understanding of the relationship between mental health and social issues and how these issues may impact on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing

The Finance Manager & Company Secretary role is a dual role where you will ensure efficient and effective planning and management of the charity’s finances and take charge of secretarial duties. Within this role, you will develop and maintain accounting systems, control and records, while ensuring the charity is compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements. The postholder will ensure appropriate financial policy and procedures are in place, to deliver effective financial management and decision making. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Services Manager to join our team. The role is responsible for overseeing the charity’s business service functions, including Human Resources, senior administration, ensuring and overseeing GDPR compliance within the charity, IT coordination and Safeguarding. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing, reviewing and updating the organisation’s policies and procedures.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
HR
- Oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and staff development.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and maintain up to date HR records.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and staff on HR-related matters.
- Maintain accurate records of each employee and ensure proper allocation of benefits due.
- Oversee all training requirements for the charity.
Administration
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the business services team, ensuring efficient administrative support to the organisation.
- Coordinate and manage office facilities, supplies and equipment.
- Support the executive team with scheduling, correspondence, and other administrative tasks.
- Ensure all insurance required by the charity is in place and regularly oversee any changes.
- Oversee the Donor Care team to ensure processes and protocols are in place to ensure a high quality donor care experience.

GDPR & IT Coordination
- Act as the DPO for the organisation, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
- Develop and maintain data protection policies and procedures, and oversee staff training on data privacy.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data protection compliance across the organisation.
- Liaise with external IT provider to ensure the organisations IT infrastructure is secure, up to date and aligned with operational needs.
- Manage IT assets, software licenses, and support the implementation of new technologies.
- Provide IT support and training to staff as needed.
Safeguarding Lead
- Act as the designated Safeguarding Lead for the organisation, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all beneficiaries we work with.
- Develop, review and update safeguarding policies and procedures ensuring they are in line with best practise and legal requirements.
- Deliver safeguarding training to staff, and all associated personnel, and manage safeguarding concerns and incidents.
Policy Development and Compliance:
- Lead the development, review and updating of organisational policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect current laws, regulations and best practises.
- Ensure policies and procedures are effectively communicated and implemented across the organisation

You will be responsible for:
- Providing administrative and other support to fundraising and communications staff.
- Leading on a small portfolio of major fundraising events and activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a French speaking Programme Officer to contribute to an organisation that works to protect the world’s forests and strengthen Indigenous Peoples’ and Local Communities’ rights on land and forestry governance. You will use your experience of supporting the delivery of programme activities, including tasks such as budget management and financial reporting, work planning and narrative reporting and the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes’ impacts.
You will support a portfolio of projects, with a primary geographic scope in Africa, and a possible focus on Asia and South America as well. The portfolio will include a multi-year institutionally funded programme of work in West and Central Africa, addressing issues relating to forest governance, climate change and community land rights. You will need to ensure high impact projects are delivered in compliance with internal policies and funder requirements. An important part of the role will be to help establish consistent and effective working practices across the portfolio so that projects and partnerships are well managed within the programmes.
You will work closely with Programme Managers and Officers working in the Africa region, as well as the wider Programme Management Group (working in other regions). You will also work closely with legal experts across programmes to facilitate matrix working and strategy coordination.

Our Policy and Public Affairs Officer connects with and influences politicians and senior decision makers to make society better for people who have mental health challenges, have mental illness and their families. They shall manage projects that shall lead to improvements in support for those with poor mental health.
Key Responsibilities
In this critical role you will work closely with the Director of Public Affairs and Communications to develop and implement a policy and influencing strategy to ensure that the voices of people we support, and their families are heard in all the places they need to be. You will manage projects related to mental health and provide reports.
You will build powerful relationships with politicians, civil servants and partners and feel comfortable representing the organisation at a range of different stakeholder events. You will love policy and public affairs, enjoy mastering details and offering sound advice. You will respond on behalf of the organisation to consultations and events and will be comfortable doing lots of reading and writing. You will enjoy building powerful and meaningful relationships.
General Duties:
- To ensure that Change Mental Health have a robust policy and public affairs process in order, to respond to events and consultations, set up meetings with influencers, write briefings for those meetings and record our interactions on the Lobbying Register.
- Develop and implement a policy and public affairs strategy which means Change Mental Health engage with external stakeholders, have key messages disseminated and ensure that the voices of our members and the people we support are heard at all levels.
- Ensure that Change Mental Health’s Public Affairs and Stakeholder policies are kept relevant for our staff and promoted throughout the organisation.
- Collaborate on key communications documents and channels, including our newsletter, website and support the high-quality use of our social media channels.
- Manage projects that improve the outcomes of those with poor mental health and wellbeing. When agreed, engage with parliamentarians and stakeholders, representing Change Mental Health and advocating for our policy agenda
- Take ownership of policy developments in fields relevant to Change Mental Health’s work and ensure you are up to date and well informed of recent developments.
- Write briefings for the Director of Public Affairs and Communications, the CEO, and Board as needed.
- Write briefings for debates in Parliament and communicate with members of Parliaments.
- Write reports for projects relating to mental health and wellbeing.
- Organise and undertake the administration of events that support our policy platform whether that be events at party conferences, cross party groups, parliamentary receptions or other activity that support the charity.
- Network and build relationships with different stakeholders across the private, third and state sectors.
- Support the work of the National Rural Mental Health Forum, organising meetings and reporting on impact.
- Act in accordance with Data Protection legislation. Ensure all records, personal, staff and client data are managed in line with Data Management and Information Governance policies
