Charity People are delighted to be working with Breaking Barriers, a charity which helps refugees to find meaningful employment, to recruit a Programmes Integration Lead on a 12-month fixed term contract.
Breaking Barriers is a specialist refugee employment charity. Refugees flee their homes in fear, with more hardship on their arrival in the UK: a new country, language and stigma. With a different work culture to navigate, refugees are four times more likely to be unemployed and are often left to face these barriers alone. Breaking Barriers' vision is for every refugee to access meaningful employment and build a new life. They do this through one-to-one advice and guidance, education, and training, and innovative partnerships.
Breaking Barriers is embarking on an exciting journey to increase the scale and impact of their employment services through the integration of a refugee support programme into their service. This includes the transfer of a team of staff, their programme operations and beginning of the process of operational integration. As a result, Breaking Barriers will provide an enhanced, joined-up service to clients across the UK and support more refugees.
Reporting into the Director of Services, the Programmes Integration Lead will provide management and oversight to the transferred teams, while developing and managing integration projects and plans. The role will be part of the Services Senior Management Team, acting as a focal point between the transferred teams and the wider services team and other key internal stakeholders, and ensure integration is a success.
Key responsibilities
- People and team management: Provide day-to-day management, support and direction to transferred staff to ensure staff have the necessary resources and support to deliver on objectives and provide a quality service.
- Programme and service integration: Plan, coordinate and lead work to integrate the acquired programme with the existing service model, developing and implementing an integration plan that feeds into the broader Services strategy.
- Operational oversight and reporting: Oversee delivery of transferred programmes within the new operational context to ensure continuity of support for clients and provide visibility of overall programme performance to Director of Services and SLT.
- Safeguarding: Review safeguarding practices and policies, ensure best practices are embedded, and be part of the safeguarding team, acting as the point of escalation.
The Programmes Integration Lead will have demonstrable track record and transferrable experience in managing or overseeing service or programme delivery, ideally in the employability or refugee sector. The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong skills in planning, coordinating, and managing complex projects with a range of stakeholders, ensuring the achievement of key milestones. You will be an experienced leader and manager with proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams during periods of transition or change, and able to demonstrate strategic thinking and an innovative outlook. You will have strong analytical and reporting skills and be able to solve problems by anticipating challenges and developing practical solutions. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, inspire confidence, and work with stakeholders at all levels, and communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling way.
The ideal candidate may have experience of managing the integration of new teams, systems or services, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to service delivery. You may also have experience of working with marginalised populations, such as refugee communities. Experience of developing and improving CRM systems and processes would be an advantage, as would an understanding of best practice in adult safeguarding and knowledge and understanding of best practice in working with volunteers.

RSWT are seeking an innovative and strategic lead to head key elements of their ‘Evidence Emergency’ project. This initiative aims to enhance our approach to using evidence in conservation, improving data-driven decisionmaking through the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Evidence-based Conservation. The role involves co-ordinating and scaling innovation efforts, managing digital and data projects, embedding a skills bank and competency framework across the federation, fostering internal communication and knowledge sharing, and developing long-term sustainability strategies. The ideal candidate will have a excellent background in project management, digital technologies, and data analytics within conservation, as well as great communication and collaboration skills. Throughout the project you will liaise with the Project Lead at Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, Self-assessment Tool/Competencies Lead at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and the Project Delivery Support Officer at Surrey Wildlife Trust.
About the Evidence Emergency project:
The Evidence Emergency project is a critical initiative within the Wildlife Trusts federation aimed at addressing the urgent need for robust, data-driven decision-making in conservation efforts. This project, run in partnership across several trusts, recognises the growing importance of digital technologies and data analytics in understanding and protecting wildlife and habitats across the UK.
The project’s main goals include enhancing the collection, analysis, and sharing of ecological data across the Wildlife Trusts network, as well as developing innovative digital solutions to support conservation work. It seeks to build capacity for data-driven decision-making while fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing across the federation. A key component of the project is the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Evidencebased Conservation, which will drive long-term improvements in how evidence is used in conservation efforts.
The Centre of Excellence for the Wildlife Trusts is expected to be a central hub that enhances digital capabilities and supports evidence-based conservation practices across the Trusts. The Job
Tiko is a fast-growing and ambitious African non-profit linking vulnerable girls and women to sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence support services in Sub-Saharan Africa via our innovative digital platform. A recent transformational multi-million pound grant is kick-starting us on our way to taking our fundraising and our organization to the next level. As such, we are looking for a experienced, driven New Business Development Lead with a solid track record in personally securing 6 – 7 figure grants from new donors, whether government, institutional, INGOs and/or large trusts and foundations, to join our NBD team.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to:
- Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify high quality new donor leads for Tiko and proactively track and respond to large funding opportunities and RFPs, helping us continuously build and enhance our prospect pipeline
- Carry out detailed research and mappings to identify existing links with potential donors, whether through our leadership, Board, donors etc. and recommend pathways to relationship building
- Lead and manage the full proposal development process - from identification of the funding opportunity and detailed review of eligibility/suitability to assess our likelihood of success, through to creating buy-in around responsibilities and timelines, motivating and organizing internal stakeholders, guiding players through every step in the proposal process, gathering inputs from technical leads, working with finance teams on budget development, creating supplementary materials, to rolling up your sleeves and writing the proposal and supporting documents as required (Theories of Change, Risk Matrices, Log Frames etc.).
- Deliver significant funding from new donors (candidates will be expected to show evidence of winning funding of a minimum of 6 figures)
- Create high quality fundraising materials tailored to the needs of specific donor audiences e.g. concept notes, slide decks etc.
- Support the systematization and increased efficiency of fundraising at Tiko through timely updating of Salesforce, and general best practice usage of our tools and project management system (Asana).
We are open to remote work for this position and will happily accept applicants from the UK, Kenya, and South Africa, with a preference that the postholder joins their team in their local office one day a week.
About You
You have a deep passion for using your skills in leveraging funding to make the world a better, more equitable place, and an ability to balance big picture, strategic thinking and design with getting tangible activities operationalised. Specifically:
- You are an exceptional writer, with an ability to produce compelling proposals, tailored to the specific needs and interests of different donors. These might be technical, institutional bids, requiring ToCs, logframes etc, ‘Big Bet’ pitches which will rely on powerful storytelling or applications to large foundations, among others.
- Sitting within the small but growing NBD team, you are nonetheless comfortable working autonomously (with the role being majority remote), while building the connections needed across our global team to get the information you need to raise funds for Tiko.
- You are comfortable working in an organisation that is fast-paced and experiencing significant growth. You show flexibility and resilience as structures, processes and ways of working evolve.
- You are confident in managing competing priorities while meeting both internal and external deadlines and flexible enough to juggle your work where opportunities come in at the last minute.
- You are an excellent communicator, able to effectively tell our story and market our offerings in a compelling way, engaging partners, and donors, and inspiring them to support Tiko.
Experience and Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fundraising role(s), with a preference for experience in institutional, trust/foundation and/or Big Bet philanthropy, and evidence of personal track record in bringing in new funding.
- Experience working for an international development NGO is desirable, particularly in the space of SRH, SGBV and/or women and girls’ rights more broadly.
- Willingness to join the team in the local office ideally one day per week and for occasional international travel (1 - 2 weeks per year)

The Rewards

The gross salary brackets for this position are £40,000 - £60,000/year in the UK, R710,694 - R1,066,040/year in South Africa, and Ksh4,534,542 - Ksh6,801,813/year in Kenya. Trauma Treatment International (TTI) is a registered charity in the UK. Our focus and expertise is in providing evidence-based psychological treatment and support to victims of collective violence around the world. As well as providing treatment for victims directly, we also support organisations that are trauma-exposed through their work to uphold human rights, in order to mitigate the impact of trauma in the workforce.

Own and organise the Insiders group. This will include seeking new members to expand our Insider group, while retaining current members by ensuring meetings and work are relevant, interesting and beneficial for members;

Help plan and deliver the UK’s first ‘Insider Summit’ where we bring together people doing insider work across a range of industries and forms;

We are accountable and responsible for gathering, analysing, contributing, and mobilising evidence and insight to strengthen the case for dementia across the UK - bringing this to bear to our people in Alzheimer’s Society and the dementia system locally and nationally.
We are evidence and data-driven, factual, and solution-focused. Our strategic evidence base will ensure that Society’s decisions and interpretation of dementia and the system are based on the highest quality of dementia evidence and will:
• Demonstrate the scale of dementia in the UK
• Demonstrate the impact of dementia on the system and those affected by the disease
• Underpin the response of Alzheimer’s Society and the wider system to the big challenges dementia poses
As our Strategic Evidence Manager, you will have the responsibility of delivering the development and curation of our strategic evidence base and will play a significant role in our mission to make dementia the priority it needs to be.
You will lead a team of two Strategic Evidence Officers and work alongside a Health Economics Lead and a Dementia Data and Intelligence Lead. You’ll also be part of an even larger Evidence, Policy & Influencing (EP&I) function, which is laser-focused on ending the devastation of dementia through changing policy and an integral part of the EP&I Management Team. Integration and teamwork are everything in this role – with colleagues internally and with the system externally.
You will:
- Be an internal and external influencer, using your understanding of Alzheimer’s Society strategy and the external environment to manage the development, delivery, and curation of our strategic evidence-base.
- Deploy an integrated three-nations approach to our work, building consistency of approach and sharing of best practices while flexing to account for the different environments.
- Identify and recommend evidence gaps, including influencing for their fulfilment, spotting opportunities to generate and commission new evidence, and working in collaboration with external suppliers, and think tanks of academics.
- Make our strategic evidence base everyone’s business – to our people and key players in the dementia system.
- Inspire and motivate people towards shared objectives and goals, encouraging an environment where people can be themselves safely share their opinions and be able to listen and support others.
About you
You are passionate about making a difference for people affected by dementia and understand the vital role credible and robust evidence can play in making this happen.
You are:
- Experienced in developing and using an evidence base to inform internal and external decision-making and achieve results, with the ability to lead and manage evidence projects simultaneously using project management approaches.
- Confident in navigating the health, care, economics, and system analysis research environment and can work with a range of researchers, think tanks and other suppliers to gather and generate credible evidence.
- An opportunity spotter, able to work independently and collaboratively across internal and external boundaries to ensure our evidence is maximised to inform decisions and solutions that address the biggest challenges facing dementia across the UK.
- Confident to hold others to account to ensure decisions and interpretation of dementia and the system are based on the highest quality of dementia evidence.

- We're looking for a Lead Government Affairs Officer to help maximise the Trust’s influence at a UK Government level particularly in Westminster- ensuring that political decision makers and opinion formers act upon the enormous potential of woods and trees to deliver meaningful outcomes for nature and people.
- Your role is to influence government policy and legislation to reflect the Trust's priorities and objectives.
- This role sits within the External Affairs team working closely with colleagues across the three countries to generate plans and priorities.
- You will be responsible for developing strong working relationships both internally and externally.
- Working in collaboration with other organisations and internal stakeholders across the Trust, such as Regional Directors, is a key part of the role in maximising advocacy agenda and effectiveness.
- This role requires regular travel to meetings and events in London, with occasional travel to our head office in Grantham, site visits and events UK wide.
The Candidate:
- Experience in government/ external affairs roles ideally within the environment/rural affairs/charity sector or similar relevant sector.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to identify influencing opportunities by mobilising and working effectively in partnership with other organisations.
- Skilled in developing political strategies and influencing tactics as a part of broader advocacy and influencing plan whilst able to take on board expert advice from ecologists and policy leads.
- Require a strong understanding of political processes especially in regard to Westminster and Whitehall.
- Experience in producing high quality and timely briefings at pace for both senior staff and external audiences.
- Ability to perform to a high standard and deal with a constantly changing external environment, managing risks.
- Competent in identifying and capitalising on opportunities in line with the Trust’s cause.
- A creative thinker with experience in using digital communication channels to work at a pace to find innovative and effective ways to secure influence.
- Experience in line management, able to effectively manage direct reports whilst outlining key priorities and performance management.
- Educated to a degree level or above in a relevant subject or poses substantial experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations with overnight stays and frequent travel to London.
