Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working around core hours of 10am-4pm)

Start Date: 11th August 2025

Duration: 18-month graduate programme with optional apprenticeship opportunity upon completion. Permanent contract from August 2025. 

Salary: £26,575 per annum (Bristol, Manchester, Nottingham and Newcastle), £29,150 (London).

About the Role

upReach is recruiting for our unique Future  Charity  Leaders  Programme (FCLP). This is a great opportunity for anyone who is passionate about social mobility, and looking to gain exposure to  various aspects of charity management whilst working with university  students who are exploring their career options. About the FCLP

upReach’s Future Charity Leaders Programme (FCLP) is a graduate programme combining delivery work (supporting our Associates) with exposure to a range of aspects of charity management. 

As a Programme Coordinator on the FCLP you will be delivering personalised employment-focused support to a cohort of approximately 80 Associates, helping transform their lives by equipping  them with the necessary skills to secure a top graduate job. During a typical week, you should expect to be working across a range of projects including 1:1 undergraduate coaching, group workshops, webinars (we refer to them as Video Forums), partnership management (with university partners or employer partners) and more!

In addition to this, the programme offers the opportunity to develop skills in key areas of charity management by participating in 3 rounds of six-month 'rotations'. After your initial 18 months and the completion of 3 six-month rotations, you will have the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship in Leadership and Management to further develop your skills.

Throughout the programme, you will receive dedicated internal training developing your leadership skills and building your confidence in the role.

Through our partnership with The Circle Line, you will be part of a supportive peer group, offered regular personal development training workshops online and in-person on their '12 Tools for Life'. You will also be able to choose your own practitioner to support you with 1:1 sessions throughout the programme to help you unlock more of your unique potential.

What will I be doing?

The FCLP is a fast-paced but rewarding role. Programme Coordinators spend 80% of their time (4 days per week) working directly with associates to enhance their career knowledge and skills and 20% (1 day per week) on a charity management rotation (or an apprenticeship after 18-months). No two days are the same, but your responsibilities may include:

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with Associates, helping them to achieve their career goals 

• Developing and delivering professional development-focused support

• Individual and small group work with Associates 

• Assisting Associates with their applications to undergraduate positions and graduate jobs 

• Developing sector and/or employability skill knowledge while building resources to aid all Associates 

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with university and/or employer partners 

• Delivering informative workshops to enhance sector knowledge and employability skills

• Planning, delivering and reporting on events and workshops with partners

When applying for this role we ask that applicants are able to commit to the full 18-month training programme and we encourage participation in the apprenticeship scheme beyond this. As you will be working directly with our beneficiaries throughout their degree, this consistency will allow you to build bonds with your Associates and ensure continuity, thus allowing us to have the most impact for the young people we work with.

What Skills and Experience do I need?

This programme would be suited to individuals who are committed to upReach’s mission, motivated to work with undergraduates and interested in learning about, and gaining experience in, charity management. We are looking for people who are passionate about social mobility and believe that background should not be a barrier to graduate employment. 

Essential Skills/Experiences:

• Working in a fast-paced environment and working independently to find solutions to problems

• Strong organisational and time management skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage a varied workload

• A University degree in any discipline, or equivalent experience

• Self-motivation and an ability to work in a small team as well as solo

• Excellent communication skills and strong written English

• The ability to engage and communicate confidently with undergraduates, corporate volunteers (mentors) and employers via phone, email, and in person

• Experience of public speaking or facilitating workshops 

Desirable Skills/Experiences:

• Knowledge of the graduate labour market in the UK and experience supporting individuals through an application process 

• Strong negotiation skills and experience in roles requiring influence

• Working in one or more of the career sectors that upReach support Associates in applying to.

Main Responsibilities

• As a digital first marketer, you’ll be responsible for creating inspiring campaigns that drive action.
• Supporting the communications and marketing function of the charity, increasing the charity’s reach by delivering marketing and communications activity across a multichannel approach covering digital, social media, website, print and PR.

• PR- Build and maintain relationships with people willing to share their stories, to be used as case studies to promote our work.

• In their absence provide cover for members of the communications team.

• Marketing / business qualification or qualified by experience
• 2-3 years’ experience in communications and marketing within charity sector or marketing/creative sector

The main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programme effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.
• To assist the IntoUniversity Centre Leader in liaising with schools and other partner bodies, in organising the classroom and resources and in planning project delivery. 
• To update and maintain IntoUniversity displays, publicity and resources.
• To work with the IntoUniversity Centre Leader to recruit children and young people to the programme, including after-school Academic Support and FOCUS Weeks. 
• To develop educational resources and worksheets for use across all IntoUniversity programmes. 
• To ensure compliance with all necessary regulations and legal requirements, including the Children’s Act,  Children and Young People (Scotland) Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, Protection of Vulnerable  Groups (Scotland) Act, and legislation and policies related to Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.

Contract
Permanent, part-time

Start date

Working hours

• 16 hours per week
• Monday, Thursday 14:00-18:00; Tues, Weds 13:30-17:30 
• Local school term-times only (excluding public holidays)

Days of employment (if term time only)
You will be employed 188 days (of 4 hours each) per year, made up as follows: 

• 164 days of work (inclusive of additional days below)
• 18 days of paid annual leave (to be taken outside of local school term times and on any bank holidays  occurring during term time). For the avoidance of doubt, non-working time during school holidays which is in excess of your holiday entitlement shall be unpaid.

Additional 32 hours (or 8 days of 4 hours each)

These will be agreed between you and your line-manager, and may include days during school holidays. They will typically include three whole team meetings, one delivery team meeting and the annual staff conference. These will be pro-rated based on when you join in the academic year.

The Operations Administrator will support the NFJO in the management of processes relating to finance, human resources, events and information administration, working closely with the Executive Coordinator.

The role will build strong relationships with the Nuffield Foundation’s HR, Finance and IT functions to help ensure shared processes are administered. Additionally, the Operations Administrator will work closely with staff across the NFJO, making sure it is a collaborative and supportive place to work.

You will have experience of previously working in administrative roles, and have knowledge of office systems and processes. You will enjoy working with teams and be comfortable of working with a range of people across multiple workstreams. You will have excellent organisational and planning skills, be comfortable juggling different tasks and be a confident communicator.

Purpose of the role:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for someone new to fundraising or with some experience to work for a friendly, ambitious organisation seeking to effect positive change in the world.

Working closely with the Executive Director of Feedback Global, as well as with other members of the senior team and the Executive Director of Feedback EU, the Grants Coordinator will research, maintain and coordinate raising funds for Feedback Global and Feedback EU, with a target of £3m yearly income across both organisations by the end of 2025.

The overwhelming majority of the funds raised will be from trusts and foundations, and so the role will primarily consist of researching new opportunities, building a robust pipeline of income generation opportunities, and working with the different teams to coordinate the writing and timely submission of compelling concept notes and applications. The postholder will also lead on reporting to funders and maintaining and developing these relationships.

The postholder will also be expected to contribute to other fundraising projects which might include digital fundraising development, direct marketing, and major donor fundraising, in partnership with the communications team and senior leadership team.

This will be a varied role within a fast-paced environment, therefore flexibility, strong organisation skills and a positive, can-do attitude are essential competencies of the successful candidate. Reporting directly to the Executive Directors, the role is integral to the success of the organisation and presents a real opportunity to help shape its future direction.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of Grants Coordinator will research, maintain and coordinate

• Research and manage a pipeline of trusts and foundations that offer unrestricted and programmatic funding.
• Initiate new and manage existing relationships with trusts and other grant-making bodies through emails, calls, meetings, and attendance at events.
• Organise and lead regular fundraising meeting with the Executive Director and senior team.
• Write and lead on applications, bringing together information and expertise from colleagues as necessary.
• Lead and manage the process of reporting to existing funders, bringing together input from colleagues as necessary.
• Attend and assist with public facing events organised by Feedback or others when necessary.
• Work with the senior team to write compelling concept notes and presentations for new areas of work.
• Work with staff across Feedback to produce compelling and successful fundraising bids.
• Closely monitor deadlines for applications and reporting, proactively and confidently liaising with relevant staff for timely and high quality submissions.
• Identify new opportunities for unrestricted and project funding from a range of sources, including trusts, grants and charitable foundations; European, national and local government; individual supporters; commercial opportunities. 
• Develop and maintain general content and resources in line with branding such as presentations and texts for staff to reference and share with potential funders.
• Contribute to quarterly Board papers through pipeline updates and the Director’s report
• Contribute on an ad hoc basis to any other reasonable activity as requested by senior staff
• Very occasional travel to the Netherlands for work with our sister organisation, Feedback EU and to regions in the England where colleagues are based.

The service addresses the challenges survivors can face in finding and accessing specialist support, acting as a common point of access linking survivors to additional appropriate services. Navigators provide a first contact, telephone-based response, supporting survivors to make informed decisions and to access other specialist services.
