About the Role
As our Housing Coordinator you will ensure The Angelou Centre’s refuge accommodations continue to be a safe and welcoming safe for women. You will ensure we comply with statutory building, property and Health & Safety obligations. You will be responsible for ensuring health and safety compliance, coordinating repairs and maintenance, managing tenancy-related matters, and supporting the wellbeing of women and children accessing our refuge services. You will also line mange our Refuge and Housing Support Workers and our Haven Finance Officer

Key Responsibilities
Refuge Management
- Ensure that the refuge (dispersed accommodation) provides a safe supportive and welcoming environment in compliance with UK housing laws and the requirements of registered social landlords.
- To ensure completion of all necessary forms including housing and welfare benefit forms.
- To liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies and networks, e.g. Housing Benefit -Networks/Housing agencies
- Action any breaches of leases or tenancy agreements promptly and efficiently to ensure compliance with lease/tenancy obligations.
- Proactively address any arrears in a timely fashion and take appropriate action to recover debts.
- Working as a key part of our management team, supporting the Executive Director with planning, monitoring, evaluation and development planning
- Encouraging a positive and supportive environment in the refuge, ensuring that women’s and children’s voices are heard and central to our services
- Working in partnership with voluntary and statutory organisations, including Local Authorities and Children’s Social Care and other external agencies, keeping up to date with local resources and services available
- Ensuring any safeguarding issues for children or vulnerable adults are raised immediately as per our safeguarding policies
- To provide business development support in order to grow and develop The Angelou’s refuge services
Health & Safety
- Taking the lead in all Health & Safety issues for the Refuge service, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation, with responsibility for risk assessments, accident reporting, fire safety, repairs and maintenance issues etc,
- To update policies to align with changing requirements.
- To provide technical support on property-related problems.
- To undertake site inspections and to write follow up reports and action plans.
- To maintain the property database.
Line Management
- Engaging all team members in regular service reviews to promote best practice
- Managing and participating in the on-call support rota, responding to emergencies outside office hours on a rota basis
- Ensure staff are fully trained and able to carry out their duties
In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties however, will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade. - Housing/property management experience in a refuge or supported housing setting

Knowledge & Qualifications

- Line management or supervisory experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ Level 3/ 4 in Health & Safety, or IOSH Managing Safety

Job Title: Housing Officer
Salary: £34,298 - £38,109 per annum. Dependent on skills and experience
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

Housing:

Salary
The Specialist Housing Partner (Scheme Manager) salary is £29,580 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.

About you
- Experience delivering housing management services within a specialist or generic housing context.
- CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing or equivalent (or willingness to work towards) or qualified through experience
- Strong understanding of anti-social behaviour management and rental income collection processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet performance targets independently and as part of a team.

We are looking for a Housing Mobile Night Worker to provide floating support to our teams in high support 24-hour projects as well as medium support and transitional housing units to ensure that our properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night.
You will be based at Lansworth House and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties across Brighton, Hove and Worthing.
Working on site you will be responsible for ensuring the service is safe by keeping clear records of night time activity within the building. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures. You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.

Purpose of the Role

Housing Worker

The Housing Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA) will be embedded within borough housing teams to facilitate the dual working that will ensure that survivors’ safety and housing needs are met. This includes:
· Close working relationships with Housing colleagues
· Provision of specialist knowledge relating to DA for Housing Officers and Homelessness Teams to draw on
· Specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis
· Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
· Ongoing support from the IGVA from wider DA service, including access to group clinical supervision, casework management meetings, reflective practice sessions, one-to-one supervision from service manager
The Housing IGVA will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children. The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence).
The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, housing and practical options that might increase their safety. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support especially around complex housing needs.
The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.
This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.
