We are looking to fill two Research Programme Manager roles who will be responsible for delivering against and developing our Research and Cancer Research Strategies and looking after a large, diverse portfolio of grants.

Salary
The salary for this position is £47,674 per annum and we operate a hybrid working policy of 2 days in the office per week.

Key Responsibilities

The role will include a mixture of fast-paced and impactful response-mode funding, and working closely with applicants to shape large-scale strategic research initiatives.  Each role will be responsible for a different area of our research portfolio, as follows:

• Role 1: Delivering discovery and translational research funding, including a national large-scale programmatic research funding scheme. 
• Role 2: Delivering clinical research funding, including a new national paediatric cancer clinical trial funding scheme. Specific expertise in clinical trial funding is desirable for this role. 

As we are hiring for two positions, we will assess your suitability for both the above roles throughout the hiring process. 

• The post holders will need to be team players with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a willingness to go above and beyond. 
• The successful candidates will be able to work independently and confidently to take projects forward and develop important relationships with both external and internal senior stakeholders across the hospital, Great Ormond Street Institute for Child Health (GOS ICH), the Charity, our scientific and clinical advisors, and other external organisations nationally.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will have extensive healthcare, scientific and/or research management experience and be able to operate independently to develop and take projects forward. You will be confident developing excellent working relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders at the hospital, UCL Institute of Child Health and across the Charity.

Specifically, you will have:

• Strong research grants management experience with experience leading on the planning and delivery of grant funding initiatives
• Experience of supporting high level decision-making committees including writing papers and briefs, presenting to committees, and minute writing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• An advanced research degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent work experience

As BSR’s Membership Manager you will be responsible for overseeing BSR’s membership offer. You’ll work on plans to recruit members across a range of roles in the rheumatology specialty and engagement tactics to ensure members are retained year on year. 

Working closely with the Head of Marketing, Communications and Membership, you’ll drive forward a compelling value proposition for membership by refining our benefits package and developing tailored audience content. What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.

As the deputy to the Director of Finance, the Financial Controller is a key finance leadership role responsible for the financial integrity of the organisations finances.  Leading on the financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting for the DBF, Coventry Cathedral and Together for Change, this role will ensure compliance with Charity, Company and Ecclesiastical legislation. • Lead change management initiatives to improve financial processes & systems. Identify opportunities for process improvement & implement best practices throughout all three organisations. Engage with stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of changes. Monitor & evaluate the impact of changes on financial operations.
• Implement & maintain robust internal controls. Ensure compliance with financial policies & procedures. Conduct regular reviews and audits of financial processes.
• Oversee the calculation, collection & reporting of Parish Share contributions. Ensure accurate & transparent reporting for the Deanery Share allocations. Communicate with parishes to provide guidance & support on Parish Share matters.

2. Leadership

• To provide leadership and clear direction to the team ensuring appraisals with SMART objectives that form the basis of regular monthly meetings reviewing individual and team performance.

Key areas of responsibility

 Workforce

• Maintain a positive culture within the Centre in line with the London Irish Centre values and expectations.
• Overall responsibility for management, development, motivation, support and appraisal of the community services teams, and other team members when agreed with the line manager.
• Maintain and implement effective policies and processes for managing staff and volunteers, including recruitment and retention, induction, training and appraisals. 
• Ensure adequate and appropriately skilled staffing of the community services team.
• Monitor performance against budgets, targets and Key Performance Indicators.
• Ensure best practice and quality assured delivery of Community Services and Programmes.

Financial 

• Overall responsibility for management and reporting of community services budget. 
• Overall responsibility for management and monitoring of all community services` grants. 
• Responsibility for ensuring services are managed within delegated budget.
• Operating within financial governance arrangements at London Irish Centre.

Income generation

• Ensure relationships with all supporters and donors are managed and developed effectively, including trusts, individuals, major donors and corporate partners. 
• Identify suitable new grant and trust funds and lead on applications.
• Lead on monitoring, reporting and submissions for current grant and trust funds in accordance with funders` requirements.

Impact and Innovation 

• Overall responsibility for the service`s impact management in line with the London Irish Centre’s theory of change. 
• Lead on identification and adoption of innovative technology to improve the processes and impact on community services.
• Overall responsibility for communicating the outcomes and impact of the community services and programmes.
• Strategic Development.
• Work with the CEO, other management and the Board of Trustees to set and achieve the charity`s strategic objectives. 
• Ensure Community Services resources are effectively targeted. 
• Lead in implementing a strategic plan for Community Services and support team leaders to deliver against performance targets. 
• Develop and foster positive relationships with external stakeholders.

Through your proven Dynamics 365 CRM skills and experience, you will also lead on the charity’s CRM business processes and data quality, collaborating with fundraising, communications, IT and finance stakeholders, colleagues and third party suppliers.
