The Membership Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth of our membership base, delivering sales of our products and services and overseeing comprehensive membership recruitment, retention and engagement strategies. Working closely with the Director of Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in achieving our membership and sales goals, contributing to CILIPs overall success and sustainability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in membership services, community engagement, account management, or a related field, with a proven track record of driving growth within a membership organisation. Experience working to targets and achieving business or performance objectives is essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrated their ability to support and foster a cross-organisation sales mindset and culture, leveraging digital technologies to drive cross-platform sales.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop and Implement Membership Strategies: Create and execute strategies for membership recruitment, retention, and engagement to drive growth.
- Maintain Membership Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date membership records, maintaining data integrity in the CRM database.
- Manage Communication Channels: Oversee effective communication channels with members and manage social media profiles to support CILIP campaigns.
- Create and Execute Outreach Campaigns: Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement outreach campaigns to attract new members and represent CILIP at industry events.
- Develop and Improve Sales Pipeline: Develop, oversee, and improve a sales pipeline for all CILIP products and services, managing lead generation to the buying decision.
- Reporting and Evaluation: Prepare regular reports on membership trends and engagement activities, and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement based on data analysis.

Community Development Manager (Wales)

The role of the Community Development (Wales) is both to inspire and facilitate the CILIP Cymru Wales Committee and to work on other important initiatives. These include promoting CILIP membership and services, overseeing projects in the country and working as part of a virtual team to help ensure CILIP’s broader strategy and plans work in a Welsh context, including use of the Welsh language.
As part of the Communities Team, the successful candidate will also with colleagues on UK-wide projects to meet CILIP priorities and cover one another’s work during planned absences.
This position, within the Communities Team, reports to the Communities and Partnerships Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promoting CILIP membership and services including Professional Registration by means of in-person and online presentations.
- Working with existing Employer Partners and other key clients in Wales to help them get the most out of their membership.
- Working as part of a virtual team to help ensure CILIP’s broader strategy and plans work in a Welsh context including use of the Welsh language.
The successful candidate will have:
- Good knowledge of the library and information profession
- Experience of devising and organising events
- Be able to work collaboratively and foster strong relationships with a wide range or internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work effectively under own initiative and as part of a team.
- Be highly organised and able to plan, prioritise and deliver.
This role is homeworking based in Wales. The role-holder will be expected to visit sites across Wales and to attend quarterly all-staff meetings in London with travel funded by CILIP.

We’re looking for a talented and experienced Communications and Campaigns Manager to lead the design, development and delivery of our communication campaigns, projects and events, and engagement with our Member Agencies, helping us to reach a wider audience, raise awareness and encourage engagement.
The Survivors Trust mission:
The Survivors Trust (TST) is the UK’s largest national membership organisation for specialist voluntary sector rape and sexual abuse support services. We have over 120 Member Agencies based across the UK and Ireland. We campaign to raise awareness of sexual violence and to improve the support available for its survivors.
Our work falls into five broad areas:
1. Representation, networking and organisational support for our member agencies;
2. Support for all survivors of all forms of sexual violence;

Job description
Main responsibilities will be in the following areas:
- Ensuring effective communication across the TST team, with our members and with external agencies
- Maintaining effective communications with our Member Agencies including e-newsletters, e-bulletins and updates.
- Leading social media and digital communications
- Supporting national influencing campaigns
- Undertaking research as required to inform campaign activities, legal and policy work
- Creating social media content and assets, graphics, videos and animations
- Working with our fundraising team to increase engagement
- Supporting and promoting the work of our member organisations
- Representing TST at external meetings, forums and focus groups
- Managing responses to requests and queries from the press, public and other external agencies.
Person Specification

The Governance team are seeking a brilliantly organised and enthusiastic self-starter to make a significant contribution to the College’s involvement in global activities. Alongside a focus on supporting planning activities, the Global and Devolved Nations Coordinator will help coordinate staff and doctors attending national and global events, liaise with our overseas partners and arrange member gatherings. A high level of cooperation and teamwork between staff members is necessary to fulfil this role’s functions effectively and efficiently.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively with external customers across time zones, colleagues and senior members.
They will also have first rate administrative and organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload. It is important that as a Global and Devolved Nations Coordinator, the successful candidate has a commitment to providing a professional, positive and responsive service, as well as an understanding of cultural differences.
A willingness to travel both in the UK and overseas is a requirement of the job, although this will be planned in advance and likely to be three or four times a year.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the organisation and coordination of RCR’s global events activities
- Organise and commission briefings and/or speeches for the RCR President and Vice Presidents
- Support liaison with external partners/organisations
- The administration of and support to the RCR’s Devolved Nations Standing-Committees, and other RCR Boards and Committees
What you’ll need:
- Experience of successful working within a team and the provision of a professional, friendly, and reactive service to colleagues and external contacts
- Experience of coordinating events
- Good understanding of administrative process, systems and procedures including financial administration
- Accurate use and understanding of English including excellent written skills

What you will do in the role:
- Work with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to implement the Society’s Digital Marketing plans to achieve overall marketing objectives.
- Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns including email marketing and social media.
- Create compelling copy for the website, email campaigns, social media and other digital marketing materials.
- Manage the Society’s website, including developing, updating and monitoring content and images to ensure SEO maximisation and best practice. Liaise with the IT Project Manager and external developers for technical support where needed.
- Use persona research and analysis to develop the Society’s online presence and activity to increase reach and engagement with members and stakeholders.
- Plan, develop and oversee the production and repurposing of digital content including videos, podcasts and live streaming events, creating promotional, informational and thought leadership content.
- Oversee the design and production of printed material, branded assets and promotional items ensuring consistent implementation of the brand.
- Monitor and report on the performance of digital marketing campaigns, making recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.
- Ensure the Society’s digital marketing activities lead the way in delivering brand engagement, whilst ensuring alignment with the Society’s Brand Guidelines.
- Build strong, productive, collaborative working relationships internally and externally to support the delivery of the digital marketing strategy.
Essential skills and experience you will need to demonstrate:
- Degree or relevant marketing qualification.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a digital marketing role.
- Experience of email marketing, social media (including advertising) and content marketing.
- Digital content design skills with experience in creating and repurposing digital content through applications such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Audition (or other equivalent.)
- Strong written communication. Able to write engaging copy across digital marketing channels.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills: self-sufficient in prioritising, organising workload and planning ahead.
- Able to think critically with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams.
- Previous experience of using marketing automation and CRM software.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Ability to use audio visual equipment such as a camera, microphone.

The Opportunity
