About the Role
With a new government in power, this is a critical time for our countryside and an exciting time to join CPRE, the countryside charity. As media officer, you’ll help to deliver high-profile coverage of CPRE’s work as part of an impactful and expanding team.
You’ll work closely with our media manager and other colleagues across our Policy and Advocacy teams to help communicate CPRE’s key policy lines to the public via print and broadcast media. You’ll also be working with CPRE’s network of local groups to help shape their media relations activities.
Your day-to-day work might include:
- Supporting and leading on conversations with journalists to help generate coverage of CPRE’s work
- Writing press releases and media briefings for internal and external audiences

We have an exciting opportunity for an inspirational leader to join our Senior Management Team as the new Director of Nature Recovery.
The Director of Nature Recovery is a key role for the Trust, in which you will use your expertise and knowledge to drive impactful change and guide our efforts to develop a more wildlife-rich area that everyone can enjoy, both on our own land and in collaboration with others, from innovative coastal projects, urban nature restoration, species reintroductions and our award winning peatland restoration programme.
This crucial role requires someone with motivation and expertise to lead and empower the nature recovery teams and contribute to creating an informed organisational culture that empowers all employees, regardless of position in influencing nature recovery.
You’ll ensure the impact of work is accurately measured and tracked, whilst having a broad perspective when considering opportunities to expand our physical presence and influence through partnerships, leases, management agreements, contracts and acquisitions.
In addition, you’ll collaborate with other Directors and teams within LWT to secure vital funding providing strategic input into income-generating bids, projects, appeals, and pitches.
Who we’re looking for:
· Proven track record of strategic leadership in land management, nature/species recovery, planning or policy.

Passion for nature conservation is essential, as well as a desire to engage with the many natural history specialists who contribute data to the NBN Atlas. We’re looking for an ambitious individual with an agile, entrepreneurial mind-set, who can drive income generation and growth.
The ideal candidate understands what an excellent data platform looks like and how to continually evolve this to keep up with trends and developments. Attention to detail and ability to horizon-scan is key in overseeing the Trust’s projects and key work streams and ensuring good governance. The NBN Trust is a small team, with a big responsibility, undergoing a period of change, and your role will be to steer the staff through this change and deliver the NBN Trust’s strategy.
We’re a 100% remote-working charity, so you’ll need to be comfortable and effective working from home. The whole team meets up four times a year for in-person team meetings (in London and other locations around the UK). The post holder may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings.
