Reporting directly to the CEO, Laura Clarke,, this critical role is responsible for leading ClientEarth’s international finance and operations teams, including Facilities, Procurement, IT, and Security – a global team, currently encompassing 55 colleagues. The role will work closely with the Board of Trustees, key funders, and the Director of Development, making significant contributions to organisational and programmatic strategy.
This role will offer a salary starting from £118,750 pa (London) / €125.240,69 pa gross / €8.997,18 pm gross (Brussels) (ClientEarth Executive Team band) plus benefits, including flexible working (a hybrid model combining home and office working), and a pension contribution with additional option of salary sacrifice.
Key duties will include:
- Strategic leadership of all financial and operational matters, ensuring the team’s objectives are aligned with organisational goals.
- Supporting the CEO in shaping the organisational business model and scaling global impact.
- Providing strategic financial planning to ensure resources meet desired impacts, including developing KPIs to monitor global financial strategy.
- Oversight of operational budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
- Ensuring financial compliance with UK Charity Commission regulations and across all international legal entities.
- Management of grant funding, including budgeting, tracking, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.
- Leading the development and integration of financial and operational systems, streamlining processes, and driving efficiency.
- Overseeing investment management, treasury, and currency strategies to ensure financial resilience.
- Managing organisational risks and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across all locations.
- Leading, empowering, and motivating the Finance and Operations teams, driving a collaborative and business-partnering approach.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified accountant (e.g., ACA/FCA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with substantial senior leadership experience, ideally in an INGO or multinational organisation.
- Have expertise in finance, planning, and budgetary control in a complex, geographically diverse organisation.
- Possess strategic experience overseeing operations, including IT, facilities management, procurement, security, and risk management.
- Demonstrate knowledge of charity accounting regulations and managing financial controls and compliance.
- Have a proven track record of managing grant funding, sub-granting, and external partner relationships.
- Be experienced in change management, developing systems, processes, and culture for a global organisation.
- Exhibit excellent influencing, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders,

Job Description
As a Financial Wellbeing Advisor within Catch22’s Justice team in London, you will play a key role in supporting ex-offenders on probation, focusing on their financial needs. Working with adult males, you’ll explore the root causes of financial hardship and help address debt, benefits, and overall financial wellbeing to build their confidence in managing finances independently.
You will manage a caseload, conducting assessments and developing action plans, while collaborating with local agencies to deliver support. You'll also assist with accessing benefits, banking services, and financial entitlements. The role is autonomous but collaborative, with opportunities to improve service quality and share innovative ideas.
About You
You’re highly organized, process-driven, and able to manage workloads efficiently. With a keen eye for detail and strong writing skills, you ensure timely and high-quality case management. Proactive and resilient, you thrive under pressure and are quick to learn, ready to tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll have experience in the Criminal Justice System or working with disadvantaged people, with a passion for making a positive impact.

About the role

You will liaise with our project and internal teams to ensure the accuracy and consistency of our information, to support good management and decision-making. Your work will help us to ensure that we are managing our project budgets appropriately, particularly in relation to expenses and sub-contractor (Associate) costs.
We’re looking for a highly numerate and well-organised person, someone who enjoys working with data, with impeccable attention to detail and who is eager to support our finance and operations functions.

Job responsibilities
You will be supported by and work closely with the Business Development & Operations Manager and will liaise with our bookkeeper.
Your day-to-day role includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Finances

Ensuring our financial records are complete and accurate.

Processing and approving the team’s monthly expenses.

Liaising with project teams to ensure project expenses budgets are managed effectively.

Processing and ensuring our Associates’ invoices are approved and paid each month.

Help to develop a new process for approval and payment of our other supplier invoices and will then take on responsibility for that approvals process.

Managing our invoice schedule, ensuring that we are invoicing for our projects in a timely way

Liaising with our bookkeeper to maintain the finance inbox, responding to some queries and escalating others where necessary.

Informing clients when payments have been received and sending reminders for payment as payment terms are approaching.

Liaising with clients (particularly new clients) to ensure that we are set up as a supplier, purchase order numbers are raised to enable us to invoice and that the necessary processes are followed to enable us to be paid for our projects.

Working with the Director of Finance & Operations to identify, develop and implement improvements to our financial processes and systems.

Developing and sharing updates on finances as required, e.g. monthly cashflow updates for the Executive Directors
Operations

Ensuring clarity and accuracy on CMAP (our project platform - NB no prior knowledge of this is expected!) for our projects to ensure:

Accurate expense handling, to ensure they’re charged correctly to our clients

Associate budget allocations are correct and up-to-date

Contract budgets match the project budgets and our invoice schedule

Checks are carried out before projects are closed

You may also be asked to help with other support, checks or analysis to support our smooth project management and oversight

Acting as key points of liaison between the project teams and the bookkeeper wherever possible and escalating to the BD & Ops Manager and/or the Director of Finance & Ops where needed.

We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer. This is a job for an extremely organised, confident and proactive multi-tasker, it requires an abundance of energy, resourcefulness and a keen eye for detail. The ability to prioritise effectively and communicate efficiently is key.
As Finance Officer you will be undertaking the following tasks:
- Managing payroll and pension function and ensuring all returns and payments are made accurately and on time.
- Managing purchase ledger invoices, expenses, and credit notes.
- Preparing and posting weekly and monthly supplier payment runs in GBP and other currencies.
- Reconciling supplier statements and bank accounts, resolving any discrepancies.

- Assisting with accruals, prepayments, and month-end processing leading to management accounts.

- Managing petty cash, and onsite cash during festivals
- Proactively chasinbg customer payments and manage overdue accounts.
- Creating sales invoices and allocate sales receipts

- Producing quarterly VAT returns
Contract: Full Time Permanent
Salary: £24,000-26,500
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week - part time hours would be considered

- Experience in the use of financial modelling and options appraisal techniques, particularly the use of spreadsheets and business intelligence tools (desirable).
- Experience of providing business intelligence that enables managers to take soundly based policy and operational decisions.
- Awareness of potential risks / opportunities / changes in legislation and experience of supporting budget holders through mitigating these risks and embracing opportunities.
- Evidence of operating in a commercial and proactive manner.

A little bit about the role
The Finance Officer will play a vital role within the Finance team being a trusted partner to our colleagues who are creating social change for children who do not have a safe or stable home.
You will take ownership of the purchase ledger and manage documents from receipts in ExpenseIn through to supplier payment. You will resolve issues with suppliers as they arise and maintain effective communications with suppliers. You will be responsible for accurately processing other transactions and inputting them into the accounting system (XERO), such as bank, petty cash and sales invoices. You will support the Finance team with other administrative tasks including month end closing.

A little bit about you
This role will suit someone with strong experience in purchase ledger management within a medium-sized organisation, ideally within a charity but not essential. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and confident in handling online approval workflows and purchase order systems.
They should have a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and a track record of improving finance or administrative processes. While an AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable, practical experience is key. The panel is looking for someone detail-orientated, efficient, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
