We are recruiting a Centre Manager for Malvern Cube.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and community aware person with excellent people skills to manage the Centre and lead our further development.

We hire rooms to individuals, groups and clubs for educational, social and therapeutic purposes and our clientele are aged from 0 - 104!  Our annual footfall is around 3,000 (and growing!), and we have over 50 classes and activities running each week.  Our theatre space is well used by a variety of both well-known and amateur performers and we have three resident theatre groups.  We are proud of our in-house cafe, The Garden Cafe, which prepares nutritious, affordable and delicious food fresh on site every weekday, using locally sourced ingredients.  And our sister charity, Cube Youth, provides regular youth club activities and a Youth Café.

As well as our Centre Manager, the staff team includes our Administration Manager, caretaker and cafe staff.  We also have a great team of volunteers, and a strong Board of Trustees responsible for the governance of the charity. We receive no external funding and operate largely from hire income and successful applications for grant funding.

The role

As Centre Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of this busy, vibrant community centre and engaging with the community and hirers to present a welcoming, friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Your role will include:

• promoting Malvern Cube and what it offers, developing and maintaining a strong community presence and ensuring that the facilities are well used and hire income is maximised.
• ensuring the effective robust financial management of Malvern Cube and providing regular financial reports to trustees.
• leading and developing the staff and volunteer teams
• contributing to the development of Malvern Cube's strategic plan and leading on key aspects of its implementation.
• day-to-day interface with centre users, hirers and the general public.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate to coordinate our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s. We are at an exciting stage of growth, now in 20% of London schools, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners.  We are looking for competent leader, ideally with experience of risk and physical challenge, and strong administrative skills, who is comfortable working with schools. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £30,000 – £35,000 pa pro rata depending on experience. Flexible working considered.

Main duties

Programme Support 

• Provide support across Causeway's broad portfolio of programmes, such as online mentoring, insight days, work experience weeks and university and employer outreach schemes

Family Rights Group is the leading child welfare charity, and is rolling out its highly successful Lifelong Links programme in London for care experienced young people. As part of that work, we have received funding to create this exciting new post which is ideal for a young people participation expert. 

The Young People’s Participation Officer will build on and continue to develop the charity's young people's participation activities so that young people inform, influence and help to deliver the strategic priorities of the charity. Over time, you will be tasked with setting up and supporting groups of care experienced young people who will be integral to the development, influence and promotion of Lifelong Links-related work including the Lifelong Links: London project.

Alongside the Lifelong Links participation work, you'll support other young people who have experience of the child welfare system or were raised in kinship care, to have their voices heard. You will work closely with others within the charity, including members of the Senior Leadership Team, FGC and Lifelong Links Team, Policy Team and with the charity’s Family Participation Officer.

We welcome applicants to this role who have lived experience of being raised in kinship care or the care system. 

We are looking for an experienced grants fundraiser to join us and make a significant impact on our work with young people in central Doncaster. 

We are currently finalising our next Forward Plan, with an ambition to create an inclusive, vibrant community, committed to everyone having a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.  We currently work with children and young people aged 5 to 30. 

Our priority programmes include support coaching for young people, community activity sessions, sustaining our accommodation provision for vulnerable young adults and establishing how we can best support more young people on the homelessness pathway.  We have some great spaces that are in need of development, and we expect that both capital and revenue funding will be included in your workload. We also look for smaller grants during the course of the year, including for food for our residents and supplies for our art groups, and we hope to recruit volunteers to assist with the smaller and less complex bids. 

You would – for now – be our only Grants Officer, so should be familiar with the whole cycle of applications and monitoring and able to work independently.  This is a fabulous opportunity to make your mark on young lives in Doncaster and take our fundraising to the next level. 

Main Responsibilities

• To work delegated idea notes into fundable project profiles, each with a clear and compelling case for support.
• To create a clear and compelling case for support for unrestricted grants income.
• To agree full cost recovery arrangements with the Chief Executive.
• To be responsible for an assigned portfolio of trusts, foundations and similar, developing knowledge of, and relationships with, those funders.
• To make strong applications to funders within the assigned portfolio, matching YMCA Doncaster’s agreed cases for support with funders’ interests and requirements.
• To make strong applications to public sector and similar bodies offering contracts for work within YMCA Doncaster’s scope.
• To work to regularly reviewed and achievable targets.
• To prepare and give presentations, maintain ongoing contact and host trustee or representative visits where required as part of an application process.

Person Specification

• A recent track record of success in securing funding through written bids (five figures plus) in an employed role focused on grants or similar fundraising. 
• Experience covering the full cycle of grants fundraising including creating cases for support, submitting applications, responding to requests for information or visits, monitoring and evaluation.
• An understanding of the current UK grants / trusts climate and the types of funders likely to support YMCA Doncaster’s work. 
• Self-motivated and self-supporting, with the ability to work independently and deal with unexpected or challenging situations including short-notice opportunities.
• Able to supervise and support volunteers and others to complete strong applications efficiently. 
• Ability to create and work with project budgets and projections.

We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up our fourth and fifth clinics in Maidstone and Redbridge. We worked with over 500 children, young people, parents, carers and siblings in 2023. As a national charity Growing Hope has trained over 1,000 professionals & parents. We are continuing to expand, with the set-up of further local clinics on the horizon.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional with great attention to detail, strong analytical skills and an ability to work in a fast pace environment. The role will report to the Director of Operations and will involve running book keeping, reporting and banking functions as well as overseeing payroll. This role supports the national Growing Hope charity and each of the local charities’ (clinics) accounting for around £1 million collectively each year. You will be joining a small and dedicated national team of eleven.

Job Purpose
Growing Hope requires an experienced finance professional (with part qualifications) who will be responsible for the delivery of internal financial management systems and controls, and for maintaining accurate financial management records, including managing the process of producing annual accounts. This role covers both the national charity and the local Growing Hope charities which are growing across the UK. The national charity raises around £600,000 per year and the local charities around £50,000-£100,000. The Senior Finance Officer will support the charities with day to day book keeping, raising invoices, paying expenses, scheduling payroll payments and running management reports and accounts. This job role also involves advising on budgets for fundraising project proposals and working closely with the supporter engagement team. This individual will be able to communicate effectively with all the relevant parties including the national Growing Hope team, the local Clinic Managers, and local finance trustees who have overall governance of each charity’s finances.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow.

Book keeping & Finance processes

• Processing of accounts using Quickbooks for each Growing Hope charity in a timely manner (currently 6 small charities)
• Paying expenses and invoices as and when these are approved.
• Liaising with payroll provider and scheduling salary payments for all staff each month.
• Invoicing local Growing Hope charities each month for book keeping, payroll and quickbooks.
• Running gift aid claims and supporting volunteers to run this across the Growing Hope charities.
• Liaising with local clinics and churches to agree payment schedules and giving for each financial year.
• Participate actively in prayer and worship times as part of the team. This includes praying, coaching and supporting Clinic Managers to understand their budgets and financial processes.

Fundraising

• Contributing to the fundraising strategy and development of budgets for fundraising projects.
• Contributing to the wider teams fundraising efforts through networking, and involvement in fundraising and community events.

Reporting

• Updating monthly forecast vs. budget spreadsheets for each local charity and the national charity.
• Leading monthly budget reporting meetings for Senior Leadership Team and Chair of Trustees, using analytical skills to highlight patterns or potential risks or problems arising.
• Create annual reports in partnership with the Clinic Managers and Finance trustee for each local charity and ensure these are independently examined by recruiting and liaising with volunteer accountants.

Payroll

• Liaising with the payroll provider to run payroll for all staff across the Growing Hope charities each month.
• Setting up and running pension payments each month.
• Paying NI payments each month.

General administration

• Set up bank accounts and signatories for local Growing Hope charities, support the local trustees with ensuring all financial processes are set up and working (e.g. bank account, Stripe, Quickbooks, payroll, pensions, HMRC)
• Sending letters and emails as required.
• Maintain data protection and confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s information governance policy.
• Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and wider Growing Hope policies.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, an interest in additional needs and inclusion are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

 Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts.

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Nevertheless, IPCs are accountable to the organisation for their professional standards and are expected to comply with Coram Voice Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines.
