We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly professional individual who would like to be part of Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Adviser Service in Gloucestershire. The role will be working in the community, Tewkesbury, Newent and Staunton locality as well as home working.

The Dementia Adviser Service provides responsive and individualised support to people with a dementia diagnosis and their carers within their community. Our dedicated team provide information, advice and guidance; face-to-face, telephone and online helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.

You will be part of a highly motivated and supportive team, sharing responsibility of some admin tasks, including local service telephone cover and facilitating support groups.

You will be:

- Supporting people affected by dementia, families and carers to access vital services.
- Improving people’s sense of well-being, enabling them to have more control over their lives.
- Assisting with the identification of needs, providing information and access to relevant services.
- Promoting our services and building relationships with a range of health and social care professionals.
- Build relationships with a range of local contacts, networking with health and care professionals.
- Develop networks and pathways with partner organisations who work in the field of dementia, ensuring seamless and consistent support and empowering carers to make informed choices.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of dementia and the needs of people affected by dementia and those who care for them.

You will:

- Have excellent communication skills to meet the diverse needs of our community.
- Understand client confidentiality and how this is applied when representing client needs.
- Possess previous experience supporting people, preferably those living with dementia and managing a busy caseload.
- Have the ability and means able to travel independently around Gloucestershire including Tewkesbury, Newent and Staunton.
- Comfortable connecting with others and talking to a wide range of other health care professionals and related statutory and voluntary organisations.
- Be a self-starter, incredibly motivated with excellent organisational and timekeeping skills.
- Ability and interest in supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them take more control of their lives.

About the role

Key Responsibilities: 

Fundraising:

• Conduct research on potential funding opportunities and grant applications 

• Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns 

• Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, providing reports and recommendations

· Manage and update our centralised database of case studies, celebrities, and influencers, ensuring all stories across the charity are recorded for effective stewardship. · Collaborate with PR, fundraising, digital, and campaigning teams to integrate storytelling into their work, identify their needs, and match case studies or celebrities to relevant projects.

About the role

You will be responsible for developing and diversifying the base of supporters and achieving fundraising targets. You will help maintain our existing stable income but also develop other income streams, expand our supporter networks, and build our sustainability for the future. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with trusts and foundations as well as corporate partners and individual givers. You will develop and deliver successful plans to diversify and optimize our income as well as maintaining and improving the tools, processes, and internal expertise to ensure sustainability. You will explore other forms of fundraising, such as crowdfunding, major donors, and events.

Skills and experience

You will have a proven track record of soliciting, managing, and securing income from diverse income streams. You will have experience of developing successful grant applications and proposals for support to trusts and foundations. You will have digital fundraising fluency such as using social media to build support and run crowdfunding campaigns.

You will be an outstanding written communicator with the ability to absorb and synthesize complex information and translate it into compelling written cases for support. You should have excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to relate to, influence, and persuade internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You should be proactive, positive, and able to work on your own initiative, learn and test creative approaches, and remain resilient in the face of setbacks. About the role

You will join Solent Mind at an exciting time as we launch our new CRM and will play a vital role in ensuring we exploit all the opportunities this will bring to the organisation. You will ensure the effective technical leadership and day to day management of our CRM system and digital systems within Solent Mind, operating across the breadth of our delivery. You will maximise the potential this brings to respond effectively to charity, service user, staff and funder needs.

You will manage and implement changes within our new primary CRM and also other CRMs.

You will identify and address training needs and map our internal processes.

You will also monitor and maintain our data integrity and ensure data security and protection.

You will be skilled in managing databases and importing/exporting data. You must have strong problem-solving abilities and excellent organisational and time management skills with ability to work under pressure. 

You should also have excellent CRM and digital system knowledge as well as excellent IT & Digital skills.

Shine Nurse Specialist (Adult nursing/ Paediatric nursing/ Registered General Nurse) 

Location: Homebased in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Shine’s Health Team 

Shine’s Health Team provides condition-specific health advice and support to people of all ages with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, NPH or IIH, promoting good self-management and enabling our members to live in optimum health.  The Team also aims to reduce the numbers of pregnancies affected by spina bifida and anencephaly through education around supplementation and fortification with folic acid, and other measures. 

Purpose of Job 

The Shine Nurse Specialist will deliver services and create resources to improve the health of Shine’s members, by informing members, their carers and professionals 

Principal Duties 

• To provide ad hoc advice to Shine’s members, their carers  and professionals on complex health issues, and signpost to NHS services 

• To attend and represent Shine at the Chelsea & Westminster Spina Bifida Clinic (for permanent role)

• To collect information, statistics and research from a variety of sources to inform Shine’s health projects 

• To create resources to inform and support members’ health 

• To develop training/information resources for professionals 

• To plan and deliver projects, events, presentations and information sessions for members and professionals 

• To provide an information resource for Shine staff 

• To form and engage with networks of health professionals 

• To represent Shine at events and meetings 

• To work closely with the Health Research & Information Coordinator to produce and disseminate health information to Shine members and the general public 

Skills and Experience 

Essential 

• Professional/Registered Health Qualification, for example:

  • Adult Nursing 

  • Paediatric Nursing 

  • Registered General Nurse 

• Experience of searching scientific and medical literature, collating information and writing reports 

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal 

• Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team 

• Ability to plan and deliver projects 

• Good presentation skills 

Desirable 

• Knowledge of the physical aspects of spina bifida and hydrocephalus

Reporting to: Financial Controller We are looking to bolster our finance team with the appointment of a Finance Manager , on an 18 month contract to support with the maternity cover of our Fees Accountant. This role will also driving process improvements and support with accurate VAT reporting as we navigate new legislation applied to all Independent Schools.

The role is suitable for a qualified accountant, who is proactive and enjoys a broad range of tasks, including transactional and reconciliation, and is proud to provide a high level of internal and external customer service.

Meeting deadlines and keeping calm under pressure is essential, as is prioritising own workload during busier periods. Good working knowledge of VAT is required, and experience of partial exemption would be advantageous.

You will have experience of working in a small and busy finance team and be able to work independently using your own initiative and collaboratively as part of the wider team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for sending termly fees and other fee related invoices in line with College agreed timeframes and responsible for the addition of fee extras to invoices in a timely and accurate manner.

Perform reconciliations of all charges raised.

Assisting departments with any queries relating to recharges and performing robust reconciliations to ensure all balances have been captured, chasing outstanding charges where necessary.

Prepare the monthly and termly direct debit collections for the collection of fees and additional charges.

Lead the weekly fee debtors meeting with the Financial Controller and Finance Director, adhering to internal policies and assigning escalation steps to ensure the timely recovery of all amounts contractually owing to College.

To support with the review of College bursary applications from prospective and current parents, ensuring all financial information provided agrees to supporting documentation.

Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to all parents and colleagues of College, by providing prompt and timely responses to all emails and phone calls in a professional and accurate manner.
