This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving national charity, as part of a high-performing, ambitious Business Development team. You will use a wide range of commercial and interpersonal skills to develop the way our services support children, young people and families. The core area of your work will be working with teams of Barnardo's colleagues to produce compelling proposals to commissioners and partners. You will need to be a good writer, communicating ideas effectively on paper with an ability to analyse large volumes of information to develop clear and compelling responses to tenders. It is critical that you can build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of proposals and service design. You will manage all aspects of proposals and tenders, leading the development and delivery of bids, working to deadlines, ensuring that we present strong business cases and bids that underpin successful outcomes. In addition, there will be the opportunity to help us develop new services and innovations in priority growth areas, monitor market intelligence, assess commercial and contract risks and work alongside operational colleagues in Children's Services.

Your project management skills may have been developed in any sector, and may need further development, but your commitment to the work we do will be demonstrated by your enthusiasm and ability to learn. In Business Development we are a supportive team, with stimulating and challenging work and extensive opportunities to learn and to help Barnardo's transform the lives of the UK's most vulnerable children.

This is a full-time role (36.25 hours per week) within Business Development. The role will operate on a 'Work from Anywhere' basis, meaning that you can work both from home and/or from an office 'hub that's nearest to where you live. Some travel may be required.

What the job involves 

As a Marketing Delivery Officer within the Integrated Marketing and Media team, you’ll play a central role in bringing communications plans to life. Working closely with colleagues across the Communications Directorate, you’ll coordinate the delivery of content and channel activity so priority communications land effectively and on time. 

You’ll oversee delivery across a wide range of channels, coordinating content outlined in communications plans and delivering against priorities set by Communications Business Partners and Product Owners. A big part of the role involves working with delivery teams to understand their lead times, briefing needs and how to get the best outcomes from collaborative working. You’ll work on projects with teams across the charity, including sector-leading virtual fundraising challenge products, sporting events such as London Marathon, in-person events like March for Men, projects to promote our support services, Corporate Partnerships and much more. You’ll also liaise with our external media agency to support the delivery of content for paid media campaigns. 

As part of cross-functional product teams, you’ll stay close to evolving priorities and take ownership of the production and delivery of communications activity. This includes copywriting, editing and reviewing content, developing creative briefs and overseeing delivery of the communications plan. You’ll coordinate asset requests, organise briefings and channel planning sessions, and help connect product teams with delivery teams so everyone is aligned and working efficiently. You’ll get to work with teams across the organisation and get to see first-hand the work we’re doing to give men the power to navigate prostate cancer.

What we want from you

You’ll bring experience of copywriting for different channels, along with copy editing and reviewing skills, and have a solid grounding in creative content production, creative briefing and ideation. Duties and key responsibilities

Database Administration (Raiser’s Edge NXT)

• Manage, maintain and optimise constituent and gift data on Raiser’s Edge NXT to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support the Database Officer with processing incoming donations from online giving platforms including JustGiving and Fundraise Up to ensure accurate integration and reconciliation.
• Support the Database Officer with monthly reconciliations between Raiser’s Edge NXT and the income spreadsheet.
• Work with the Database Manager to develop and manage Omatic Cloud automated processes for importing constituent and gift data from external fundraising platforms.
• Support the Database Manager in designing and monitoring database KPIs.
• Lead data cleansing and housekeeping projects including data retention, consent and Gift Aid reviews identifying areas for improvement and implementation of best practice in collaboration with the Database Manager and Database Officer.
• Support fundraising stewardship through event management, automated workflows and mailing list coordination.
• Process and record Gift Aid declarations in accordance with HMRC guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of data quality, GDPR compliance and robust data controls.
• Administer user access and database security settings in line with internal policies and GDPR.

Data Reporting and Insights

• Build sophisticated donor segmentation, pipelines and automated journeys to improve donor retention and engagement.
• Deliver tailored reports, interactive dashboards and insights to support strategic decision-making.

Staff Training and Support

• Provide tailored team training, knowledge-sharing sessions, and guidance materials to help colleagues make the best use of Raiser’s Edge NXT.
• Manage data-related enquiries and provide timely support.

Cross Function Collaboration

• Work closely with the Database Officer to align on day-to-day data processing and support.
• Partner with the Finance Team on reconciliation and reporting.
