The Financial Transactions Supervisor provides support to the finance team and is responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are processed in an efficient and effective way, and bad debt is kepy to a minimum. 

Proven exprience in a similar role is essential along with practical experience of working on both purchase and sales ledgers. Good communication skills with the ability to explain finanical processes to non-finance managers is required. 

This is a fixed term contracted expected to last approximately 12 months to cover a period of maternity leave. 

Main duties include

1. Timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices
2. Raise customer invoices (including event settlements) and ensure debt is collected and recovered
3. Supervise and support the weekly paymet run
4. Line management responsibility for Accounts Payable Assistant
5. Ensure sub-ledger reconciliations are completely 
6. Review all Aged Creditor listings on a bi-monthly basis and take appropriate action
7. Review Aged Debtors monthly and apply credit control procedures for outstanding debt collection

 What you’ll do:

• Develop and deliver ambitious local fundraising plans and budgets to maximise local support, provide exceptional stewardship and achieve financial targets in line with the community fundraising strategy. 

• Actively support, motivate and manage a portfolio of individual supporters to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK, ensuring opportunities realise their full potential and key supporters are retained.

• Lead on the development and delivery of a portfolio of fundraising activities such as local delivery of the Walk for Parkinson’s event series.

• Lead in developing all streams of local fundraising in allocated areas, including community support, local corporate activity and collaborating with central teams.

What you’ll bring:

• Demonstrable experience of general fundraising principles and at least two of the following fundraising disciplines: community, events, corporate and major donors. 

• Experience of setting and effectively managing budgets to achieve agreed targets.

The Creative Producer will be a key role in developing, culminating and hosting our week-long interactive public arts experience ‘Ruby Tales – Celebrating 40 Years of METRO’ for our 40th anniversary.  You will help organise and facilitate a series of creative workshops for our supporters and service users, as well as curating and programming a final interactive experience which will run for one week. 

Programme

METRO is an equality, diversity and inclusion services charity that runs health, community and youth services across London and the south east. We started in 1984 as the Greenwich Lesbian and Gay Centre. Today METRO supports anyone experiencing issues around sexuality, gender, equality, diversity and identity across five areas: Youth, Mental health & wellbeing, Sexual health, HIV, and Community. 

This year is our 40th – ruby – anniversary. We’re taking the opportunity to increase our fundraising, and tell people about our charity, our history, the work that we do and the many stories that show our work, our impact, and our people.

We plan run 40 creative workshops for staff and service users to tell our stories, and create assets which can be shared with a wider public to tell the stories of METRO. Half of these will be done ‘in house’ with existing staff, and half will be organised by the Creative Producer, using outside facilitators of their choosing. These will culminate in an interactive exhibition, to be shown in February 2025.

Role

Working alongside colleagues in the Communications Policy and Research (CPR) team, the Creative Producer will have a lead role in shaping this programme of events. They will act as lead contact for our external guest workshop facilitators, making budget decisions and communicating relevant details to ensure our additional 20 workshops run smoothly, safely and successfully.

The Creative Producer will collate creations from our 40 workshop sessions to help design and install an engaging, interactive exhibition that will run for one week in November 2024. You will play a key role in facilitating a launch event with an invited audience of partners, charities, stakeholders, councillors and VIPs.

This person will need to be aa strong networker and have good client relationship skills to build long lasting partnerships. They will also ideally have experience in training, mentoring, or teaching others to achieve fundraising success.  

This role is a full-time permanent position that will have access to a London office, but location can be discussed. The salary for this role is £45,000.

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Head of IT, this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the IT network within CARE International UK and the all the European Offices. The 2nd Line Support Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within CARE Offices. This involves outsourced IT capacity of five European Offices and managing the network for an organization of c.200 people working in the UK and in the developing world. About you

The IT team is looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and professional 2nd Line Support Engineer with considerable experience working as a network/infrastructure engineer at various levels. We are looking for an individual with experience in cloud platforms (Azure) and cloud migration methodologies, scripting languages (PowerShell) and knowledge of ITIL frameworks. You will also have excellent technical skills – network/hardware/software with the ability to see things through to completion by using excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

The 2nd Line Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the IT network within CARE International UK and the all the European Offices. The role will also support the full range of IT servers, networking, computer problems, installing and configuring systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults, and solving technical application issues in person or via remote connections. It is therefore essential that the applicant is aware this role requires a wide range of server, O365, application, and network skill set to deliver a first-class support service and ensure IT Support runs within agreed SLAs.

Job Title: Senior Press Officer

Salary: £30,167 - £38,069

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (35 hours).

Location: We fully support flexible working, from our superb offices in Holborn and from home. We do require staff to spend 20% of their time in the office. This is subject to role requirements.

About the role

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Press Officer to work in our fast-paced press office, helping run it to the highest standard. RCS England is one of the most high-profile health commentators in the UK. You will regularly see us advocating for patients and the surgical workforce in the national press. Recent highlights include coverage of our workforce census in The Telegraph and The Independent. Our Faculty of Dental Surgery has also been very vocal about children’s oral health. Candidates should have experience of successfully pitching stories to national media, and know what makes a good health story. You will have a fluent writing style, and be confident working with senior stakeholders to brief them before interviews.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with RCS England key messages and priorities.
• Participate in an out-of-hours rota for media enquiries. Time off in lieu is offered for significant out-of-office hours worked.
• Research, write and distribute press releases, features, letters and other editorial material.
• Draft articles, quotes and opinion pieces on behalf of RCS England spokespeople.
• Provide press office support to the Faculty of Dental Surgery and its Dean, as required.
• Brief the President, Council Members and senior managers on issues arising in the media.
• Act as the press lead for key projects such as RCS England guidance or campaigns. Devising and implementing communications plans, sharing project updates with the wider communications team, and maintaining a good understanding of surgical and wider health issues.
• Horizon scan for media opportunities and develop your own ideas for health coverage based on data, insights or RCS England priorities.
• Brief, support and prepare RCS England spokespeople for media interviews.
• Establish and maintain professional and trusted relationships with national and trade journalists.
• Represent the RCS England at internal and external meetings, and maintain professional relationships with press and communications leads at stakeholder organisations.
• Monitor daily media coverage relevant to surgery and the RCS England. This includes pulling together the team’s daily press cuts to be shared with Council members, Trustees, and key RCS England staff by 10am (subject to urgent media enquiries).
• Maintain and update the media sections of the RCS England website, working with the web team to develop rich digital content. Actively participate in developing our social media profile using Twitter, Facebook, and commissioning and editing relevant blogs.
• Produce evaluation reports of media coverage and communications activity.
• Undertake such duties appropriate to the grade, as required by your line manager.

About you

• Degree educated or proven extensive experience that can demonstrate the essential criteria below.
• At least two years’ experience of working in a press office.
• Experience of writing and editing for a variety of media including print and the internet.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages.
• Demonstrable experience of placing stories in the media.
• Rigour in researching and reviewing content: able to identify key points, summarise findings and report data and conclusions accurately.
• Excellent writing skills: able to write fluent, compelling copy free from grammatical or other errors.
• Excellent telephone manner: diplomatic and persuasive verbal communication skills.
• Able to prioritise effectively and deliver work to deadlines.
• Demonstrable understanding of journalists’ needs and priorities.
• Ability to understand policy documents and formulate a media response.
• Collaborative and inclusive approach to build relationships with colleagues across the organisation, to encourage timely information sharing with the press office.
• Diplomacy and persuasiveness, to foster the trust of senior spokespeople you are briefing and advising.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and integrity, to protect the College’s reputation for providing accurate and reliable information to the media.
• Strong prioritisation skills and a flexible approach to respond to changing priorities and needs and manage reactive queries.
• Enthusiasm and creativity to seek out interesting stories and pitch them.
