This role is available on a permanent contract and full-time basis. The salary for this role is £35,300 is also available on a remote working basis.

The Assistant Accountant will oversee a variety of finance tasks including supporting the Head of Finance and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to oversee the day-to-day finances and sustainability of the charity. You will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting daily financial operations. You will provide key data and insights that aid decision-making, helping the SLT and Head of Finance to optimise financial performance, control costs, and forecast future trends. You will also efficiently handle transactions, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

To be considered for this role, you will be ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or have an equivalent qualification. You will have demonstratable experience working within an accounting function and the ability to develop relationships and work with a variety of different stakeholders. You will have experience using ERP software and Microsoft Office.

Desirably, you will have a background in SME or charity bookkeeping. You will also have experience using Xero, Dext, Approval Max and Salesforce CRM.

We're recruiting for someone to lead our public engagement work on climate and nature and ensure that the public are involved in critical decisions on how to reach net zero and protect the future of nature and land in the UK.

Climate change is one of those big challenges and is a policy area where citizen engagement on both principles and practice is vital.  It, and Net Zero in particular, risk becoming a polarised and politicised issue where there is little room for considered, inclusive decision making. 

This exciting role will lead and coordinate our work with institutions, and others, to find a way through difficult issues like low emission zones, the energy transition, industrialisation of green spaces and other challenges in a way that centres the people who are impacted, with a social justice and equity lens. This role will primarily sit within our Innovation and Practice (I&P) function - focused on practical delivery of public engagement such as citizen assemblies, juries and other deliberative processes. The successful candidate will lead several of our major climate change and nature projects, including the UKRI Net Zero Living project - working with 28 Councils to embed meaningful public participation in their route to net zero. You will also contribute to the training, standards setting and advocacy work that Involve does - maintaining and growing our reputation in climate and environment networks and communicating the contribution we can make and impact that we are having.

We have a significant track record in public deliberation on climate change. We ran the first Climate Assembly in the UK and have since delivered many projects in this area including the People’s Plan for Nature. We have developed a reputation for best practice public dialogue, deliberation and capacity building. We want to grasp the opportunity for deliberative practices to make a real contribution to the change needed to respond to the climate crisis. This is a great opportunity to play a central role in taking this work forward. We are looking for someone to bring experience in designing and running participatory and deliberative processes and a good understanding of the complexities and challenges of climate and/or nature. You will need to be committed to taking a collaborative approach -  co-creating and coordinating our strategy on public engagement across the organisation and build on the work that others are doing.

Our client is looking for a Policy Officer to contribute to our work on employment rights and wider labour market policy.

This position has been created to boost their policy capacity at a time of significant shifts in the UK labour market. The role will support our response to both new legislation and a rapidly changing economy.

It will suit someone who is as comfortable analysing government data as they are writing a briefing for the General Secretary and who has a strong commitment to delivering better outcomes for working people.

What key experience, skills, knowledge and understanding do you need?

 You will need:

• Experience in evidence-based policy development on issues related to employment rights and/or labour markets
• Experience initiating and carrying through qualitative or quantitative research projects
• Confident skills in evaluating and communicating a range of data sources from legal material to quantitative data

About the role

We have exciting opportunities for Advocates to join our team covering Essex. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as hospitals and care homes across the area to meet with clients and professionals and be home based for administration; therefore, a suitable home internet connection is essential. 

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to their care, treatment, and support.

You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support.  You’ll be creative in your approach to empower our clients by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them.  You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard. 

Professional Development

You will have plenty of opportunities to enhance your professional abilities and you will make a real difference every day. Advocates are expected to achieve, or already hold, the Level 4 Award in Independent Advocacy Practice with specialisms suitable for the role undertaken. How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community. 

When you need to travel for work, expenses will be paid (mileage or public transport costs).  

VoiceAbility offers the usual regular manager one to ones, Staff forums and communities of practice depending on role. Team meetings with a mix of virtual and in person approach.

As an Assistant Volunteer Engagement Manager, you will support the development of new volunteering opportunities and the systems to recruit, match, induct, train and support volunteers.

The Salvation Army has excellent volunteering opportunities and so you will also assist in developing a robust system for capturing Volunteer data and ensure data integrity is maintained.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

• Significant knowledge and experience in partnership collaboration, networking with other agencies and building corporate volunteering partnerships.
• Significant knowledge and empathy of working in the faith-based sector or charity sector. 
• Significant knowledge of recruiting, onboarding, and the on-going effective management of volunteers. 
• Excellent people skills and communication skills, with a passion to move the organisation through cycles of change.
• Significant training, presentation skills and experience, with a view to assisting in developing our large portfolio of volunteers. 
• A proven track record in working with and analysing electronic databases and proficiency in all MS IT suites.
• A proven track record of working across all levels of an organisation competently and effectively.
