About The Murray Parish Trust

Children with a serious illness are three times more likely to struggle with their mental health. Their childhoods are overshadowed by coming to terms with diagnosis, hospital stays, treatment, feeling different from friends or managing how their illness affects daily life. Many of them struggle with severe anxiety and depression, experiencing isolation and trauma during their journey. These children are at much higher risk of long-term mental health difficulties that are more complex and difficult to treat, on top of living with often complex medical needs.

Actors Jim Murray and Sarah Parish’s first daughter, Ella-Jayne, was born with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome in 2009 and spent half her short life in paediatric intensive care, Southampton Children’s Hospital. Ella-Jayne died, at home, just eight months old. After they recovered from the immediate horror, Jim and Sarah felt an overwhelming drive to help other children and families and founded The Murray Parish Trust in 2014. They were awarded MBE’s in the King’s New Years Honours 2025 for services to seriously ill children and their families.

Our charity delivers projects that support the mental health of seriously ill children and their families. We improve access to specialist, imaginative and empowering support, at the earliest possible moment, to prevent long-term mental health difficulties. We do this by delivering a vast range of projects in children’s hospitals, hospices and other health or community settings across the UK. These include drama, dance, art, nature and music therapy; bereavement and mortuary suites, distraction equipment that reduces anxiety, sanctuary and quiet rooms; sibling support; counselling and therapy rooms; and psychological support for children/family members.

The role - Head of Public Fundraising and Operations

This is an exciting new chapter for The Murray Parish Trust. Our new Head of Public Fundraising and Operations will work closely with the Board of Trustees and our Head of Philanthropy and Projects to scale our impact and expand reach nationwide. They will play a pivotal role in leading operations and shaping the charity’s future, as well as leading on growing income from community, corporate, individual fundraising, which have been identified as strategic fundraising priorities.

We anticipate time will be split roughly equally between leading public fundraising and operational management. There is some freelance support with marketing, corporate and community fundraising, and volunteer coordination, plus trustee support with events; there is scope to expand the team as income grows. This role will support their work as well as personally deliver public fundraising activity, taking sole responsibility for individual giving and legacies.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising: Work alongside with the Head of Philanthropy and Projects to implement the fundraising strategy, including:

• Delivery of the specific fundraising activity delegated to this role to grow income year on year (individuals, community, corporate, legacies, events), supported by the work of freelancers.
• Strategic oversight of all public fundraising including monitoring, evaluating and reporting to the Board.

• Coordinate and manage policy, procedure, risk management and wider charity administration.

• Work closely with Board members with specific lead responsibility, incl. with the Treasurer in the production of cashflow and other financial reports.

Role Overview

This role will be responsible for supporting the Director of Operations to deliver the Community Services Strategy for the Trust in this new and exciting role.

The Head of Community Services will be responsible for overseeing and leading a comprehensive range of services and programmes that foster a supportive, engaging, and vibrant environment for senior residents. The role involves the management and development of social, recreational, health, and wellness services, ensuring the wellbeing of residents, enhancing their quality of life, and fostering a sense of community within the village. This will include overseeing the village shop, club house and bar functions, and a new café which will offer psychosocial support to this vibrant community, in addition to supporting the resident led activities within the village

You will manage and work alongside teams across volunteering, hospitality, and support to deliver activities and services for the mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing of our residents in order to reduce loneliness and isolation. You will also take a lead on implementing the dementia strategy for the village working closely with the Registered manager of our extra care facility and the head of housing.

This is a wide- and far-reaching challenging role but with lots of scope for innovation. As a new Registered Provider of Social Housing, the Trust is moving into a new era but wants to retain the ethos of almshouse charities, continuing to promote the health and wellbeing aspects of this special community where we aim to enable our beneficiaries to age well.

With the support of the Director of Operations, you will identify and deliver projects to generate income for future development of Community Services. You will engage in co-production with residents, whilst exploring opportunities to apply for grants or charitable funding, to enable these activities to be develop and grow in the future.

What will you be doing?

Main Responsibilities

· Drive and deliver on the implementation of strategic plans that support the move to a predominantly funded/volunteer supported and co-produced community, increasing income and reducing costs.

· Recruit, train, and develop staff to ensure high levels of service delivery and resident satisfaction.

· Report on programme performance, resident feedback, and staff performance to the village management team working closely with the Head of Housing. Prepare reports and polices as required

This role is new within Wheels for Wellbeing. As the organization’s influence expands and we implement our recent strategic vision, our Board, our Director and the rest of the Senior Management team require the support of an experienced Marketing and Communications professional.

Wheels for Wellbeing is a disability and cycling organisation led by Disabled people. Formed from the belief that cycling is transformational for health, transport and social inclusion, Wheels for Wellbeing champions mobility justice and mobility equity. Established eighteen years ago, the charity seeks to radically change the world of active travel by removing barriers to cycling for Disabled people.Following a recent strategic review of our operations, a three-pillar approach is being adopted by the charity: 

Wheels for Life:  Continue to operate and promote inclusive cycling hubs at three venues in South London; develop an inclusive cycle hire service and signpost enquiries to recommended partners across London/the UK. 

Wheels for Change: Campaigns & policy influencing work to bring about mobility justice for Disabled people, with a particular focus on active travel (walking/wheeling and cycling). Being a thought-leader in this field. 

Wheels for Learning: Establishing a UK-wide Training and Consultancy service to speed up the spread of our expert knowledge and to support our financial sustainability strategy. This will also provide volunteering and paid work opportunities for growing numbers of Disabled cyclists.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic marketing and communications professional to build a marcom strategy, engage our target audience and build on our reputation as the go-to organisation for inclusive cycling and to support our fundraising and income generating strategy. There is scope for creative thinking; from how we engage with users of our services to build advocacy, how we link mobility justice to the climate emergency and how we share our stories of success to increase our reach and impact.

Hours: 20 to 25 hrs per week  (flexible)

Duration: Two Years Fixed term (with ambition to make permanent) 

Salary: £33,000 - £38,000 (pro-rata) depending on experience 

Place of work: Home based + occasional visits to the office/our sessions or Office based

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a client of ours who seeks someone with exceptional EA skills and experience to support their busy and multi-faceted work life within the charity and environmental sector. The role is mostly remote with 1 day per month in West London and hours worked flexibly spread over 4 - 5 days per week (Monday-Friday). Salary is depending on experience and will be pro rata the full time amount advertised.

As EA you will:

• Manage a busy email inbox, keep track of multiple events, deadlines and relevant developments that may impact on my client’s work or their diary and support her by briefing her when she is too busy to look at emails. 
• Manage a busy diary and arrange meetings, book events and lunches/dinners
• Respond to meeting requests and draft responses to other emails or letters as required
• Ensure my client is well prepared and briefed for meetings and events
• Anticipate what will be needed and use your initiative to meet these needs

The ideal applicant will: 

• Have experience of providing Senior PA or EA support at Senior Executive level and be comfortable and confident liaising at this level and with public figures on occasion.
• Be incredibly organised and able to prioritise and respond to short notice requests and changes.
• Be good at synthesising lots of information and providing succinct summaries and on occasions carrying out some research on relevant topics for our client.
• Ideally have an interest in and some knowledge of environmental issues. 
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to get to know people, build rapport and trust very quickly.
• Have excellent IT skills – especially in Microsoft Office packages and Teams but a general good understanding of IT and IT equipment.
• Be a practical, positive, problem solver who can always offer possible solutions.
• Work with the utmost discretion and strict confidentiality
• Have excellent written communication skills to be able to draft professional emails and letters on behalf of my client.
• Be able to work alone and on their own initiative for much of their working time in a suitable home working space and work from West London 1 days per month.
• Be able to occasionally work on a non-working day or outside of usual work time to meet business/diary need. 
• Have an existing right to work in the UK.

This is a temporary position, 25 - 30 hours per week, with an expected duration of approximately three months. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring one to two days per week onsite at their Aldgate office. Ideally the hours per week will be split over 5 days.

The role holder will be responsible for comprehensive, proactive, and professional administrative and coordination duties to ensure department activities, initiatives and projects are running efficiently and effectively. This role supports the Senior Leadership Team, and will execute general administrative and coordination tasks to support the efficient and effective delivery of the people plan and supporting activities. In addition, the department administrator will perform basic finance tasks.

You will need:

• Experience working in an administrative role in a pressurised environment requiring tact, judgment and discretion in handling internal and external contacts and information.
• Experience in management of basic financial duties.
• Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to deliver to deadlines.
• Intermediate level in the use of IT packages, e.g. Outlook email, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and specialist equipment, e.g. video conferencing.
• Experience of drafting correspondence and other documents on behalf of SLT.
• Some understanding of, or experience or interest in, a People function would be useful in order to understand the context of what is being coordinated.
