My client is a UK health charity that works to transform care and patient experience; from small but impactful initiatives through to funding pioneering technology. With an investment portfolio of £150 million, their income is generated through property management as well as a traditional fundraising approach.

The finance function has recently been transitioned from being fully outsourced to an in-house operation. With new people, processes and systems bedding in, they are looking for interim support to assist with year end delivery and process review.

Key deliverables:

Support the Director of Finance with the production of their year end accounts including fixed asset register, investment schedules and grant disclosures.

Completion of all outstanding reconciliation work.

Assist with the documenting and refining of finance processes to ensure a structure monthly close and reporting cycle.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified Accountant with a track record of preparing accounts to Charity SORP (audit or internal accounting). Previous experience of dealing with property income would be an advantage, although not essential. You will however combine technical excellent with a collaborative, hands on approach, willing to get involved and solve problems.

With flexible office working practices, this role is offered on a hybrid basis with 2 days a week in their London office.

You'll need a creative, compelling writing style, and be capable of translating complex information into accessible language for diverse audiences. We're looking for a great comms all-rounder who can manage content across multiple platforms, from social media to press releases, so you can ensure a consistent and powerful brand voice.  This role is also a great opportunity to use and develop your skills around strategic communication.

To succeed in this role, you’ll also need proactive project management skills, combined with strong judgement, essential for coordinating complex communications campaigns, managing timelines, and ensuring seamless execution and alignment with message framing and project goals. You'll be confident in prioritising effectively, and knowing when to flag and escalate issues, ensuring smooth campaign delivery. This 28-hour a week remote role within the UK offers the chance to make a real difference, helping to campaign for Disabled people and their rights.

About the campaign

Our Campaign for Disability Justice, launched in September last year, is a vital initiative to tackle the systemic issues trapping over two million Disabled people in deep poverty. We address the root causes: inefficient social security regardless of employment status, barriers to employment for those capable of work, and a negative public discourse perpetuated by Government. The Campaign calls on Government to collaborate with Disabled People's Organisations to achieve these crucial changes.

Considering current Green Paper proposals and further benefit cuts announced in last month’s budget, our Campaign is has never been more needed.  Join us to help prevent further impoverishment of Disabled people, as we work to oppose these cuts.

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced public affairs professional to join our small staff team to lead our public affairs activity and to grow the influence of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Coalition. This is an exciting opportunity to influence positive change at a time of significant policy and political developments.

As Public Affairs Advisor, you will lead on the Coalition’s public affairs and influencing activity. You will be responsible for influencing the Government’s policy and legislative agenda relating to children and young people’s mental health, forging relationships with the new Parliament, and ensuring the Coalition’s views are heard across Westminster and Whitehall.

With over 370 members across the country, our Coalition has a significant potential to extend its influence. Many of our existing members are well placed to influence at a local level through working with their NHS Integrated Care Boards, councils and MPs, but do not always feel confident carrying out public affairs work. As Public Affairs Adviser, you will work with our members to upskill them to carry out their own influencing activity through a series of ‘Learning and Development’ workshops.

You will have Public Affairs experience of developing successful strategies to influence legislation or government policy, have strong knowledge of political systems and processes, have existing networks and contacts, and feel passionate about creating positive change for babies, children and young people.

This is a new role within the Coalition staff team and is generously supported by the Prudence Trust and the Hollick Family Foundation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the Coalition’s parliamentary influencing strategy.
• Build and maintain relationships with Parliamentarians and other key stakeholders, such as civil servants and special advisers.
• Lead the Coalition’s engagement with Parliament and Government, ensuring strong systems are in place to capture and track engagement.
• Monitor and respond to political and legislative developments affecting our work, making recommendations for responses, and proactively seeking opportunities to further the Coalition’s objectives.
• Provide political intelligence to the staff team, Chair and our members, and help to prepare staff for parliamentary activity as appropriate.
• Produce high quality written briefings, reports and other materials that communicate our messages clearly and effectively to a parliamentary audience. This will also include contributing to other Coalition communications such as media responses, newsletters, blogs, and social media posts.
• Plan and deliver events aimed at political stakeholders, for example, parliamentary events and roundtables.
• Participate in collaborations with other charities for shared influencing activities, for example the Fund the Hubs campaign and the Future Minds campaign.  
• Support work on legislation as appropriate, including drafting amendments.

Working with members

• Regularly engage with members to understand their influencing priorities and to gather insight to help inform the Coalition’s wider influencing priorities.
• Connect Coalition members to decision makers and help spotlight their work, for example, helping to organise visits to services.
• Provide advice to members on engaging with their local decision-makers such as their local MP, Integrated Care Boards and Councillors.
• Deliver workshops with members to share information and skills related to influencing and public affairs activity. For example, this could include delivery of sessions on influencing local systems, working with the government, and legislative processes.  

General

• Work closely with the Coalition Lead, the Policy and Public Affairs Assistant, and Chair of the Coalition to develop and review priorities for the Coalition and support to drive these forwards. You will also be required to work closely with the staff at Centre for Mental Health.
• Support with the development and implementation of the Coalition’s work plan and projects.
• To undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Coalition Lead or Chair of the Coalition

Your Role:

As our Finance Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting financial reporting. You’ll work closely with the CEO, external accounting provider, and managers to ensure financial efficiency across the organisation.

What You’ll Do:

✅ Process purchase invoices, staff expenses, and supplier payments
✅ Prepare and send invoices to funders and customers
✅ Manage credit control and track incoming funding
✅ Reconcile bank accounts and petty cash records
✅ Collate payroll information for our external provider
✅ Assist with budget preparation and financial reporting for funders and trustees
✅ Restart and manage the Gift Aid reclaim process
✅ Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For:

✔️ Experience: 3+ years in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
✔️ Skills: Proficiency in Xero (or similar), strong numerical and analytical skills
✔️ Knowledge: Understanding of charity finance, financial regulations, and HMRC requirements (incl. Gift Aid)
✔️ Communication: Ability to explain finance matters clearly to non-financial staff
✔️ Work Ethic: Self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented

�� Desirable: AAT/part-qualified accountant, charity sector experience, familiarity with payroll & pension administration, and an understanding of deaf culture/BSL.
