We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator. 

Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.

In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows. 

We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.

2. Plan; manage; deliver; monitor and maintain oversight of LTT’s Trust and Foundation fundraising portfolio, activities and opportunities. Target is to raise in excess of £300,000 per annum from UK and International Trusts, Foundations, other Institutional Donors and individuals in 2025-6 and increase by £40,000 a year thereafter. 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

This position will focus on sourcing and developing potential national and international funders who provide single and multi-year grants in excess of £10,000 including those who do not accept unsolicited grants.

Duties include:

• Develop and manage opportunity pipelines of prospective funders, planning introductions.
• Write compelling, concise, well-presented, tailored approaches and grant applications in Word and Canva.
• Liaise with the Operations team, to gather the relevant information for grant applications (e.g. data, case studies, imagery etc).
• Ensure systems are kept up to date with all details of grant application documents, progress and outcomes and any other interactions with funders.
• Work with partners in Tanzania to offer them support and guidance 
• Draft programme reports for projects for which you have raised funds.
• Contribute with other team members to the organisational budgeting process, by producing a detailed breakdown of opportunities and likelihood of success.
• Contribute to production of key external documents which may impact Trust and Foundation fundraising e.g. Annual Report & Accounts, Impact Report.
• Attend team meetings at least twice a year
• Attend relevant third-party events/training as required.
• Attend and assist with some LTT fundraising events.

Key Requirements

• Knowledgeable and passionate about International Development/Education

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

The role can, to some extent, be shaped by the skills and experience of the successful candidate, but it is likely to include the following responsibilities.

 Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland.  You will be home based living in the North of Scotland.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Nevertheless, IPCs are accountable to the organisation for their professional standards and are expected to comply with Coram Voice Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines.

Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) supports grassroots activists and civil society organisations around the world working to address environmental and social justice in over 160 countries.  GGF applies a participatory and decentralised model in making grants to grassroots groups through regional and thematic boards of advisors, global partner networks and independent funds, to support grassroots environmental and social justice action.

Global Greengrants Fund comprises two organisations located in the USA, Global Greengrants Fund Inc (established in 1993), and Global Greengrants Fund UK (established in 2012). The two organisations work closely together with a shared grantmaking programme and strategic collaboration at the senior leadership level. GGF UK consists of thirteen staff members working on fundraising and influencing philanthropy; finance; communications; and operations, with all of these functions operating autonomously but in close collaboration with their US counterpart functions.

The Programme Funding Manager needs to understand the challenges and opportunities that come with these transformations and can remain flexible, steady, and adaptable.

The Role

The Philanthropic Partnerships Assistant plays an important role in supporting the financial sustainability objectives of GGF UK. The postholder is responsible for managing a portfolio of trust and foundations partnerships giving up to $200,000 per year, and will also be responsible for stewarding our portfolio of individual giving supporters donating up to £10,000 per year. The role also contributes to GGF UK’s communications activity in collaboration with our global Communications function, as well as contributing to ensuring that the organisation’s fundraising activity is supported with robust infrastructure and processes.

The position reports to the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships, and works closely with colleagues across Global Greengrants Fund UK and Global Greengrants Fund Inc.

The candidate profile.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in fundraising from trusts, foundations, and/or individual donors, ideally within environmental, international, or rights-based organisations. They will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and time management skills, effectively prioritising tasks to deliver excellent results within a complex, varied, and time-sensitive workload.

With excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, the candidate will have a proven ability to create compelling proposals, presentations, reports, and other materials. They will possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Google Apps, and collaboration tools like Trello and Slack, along with experience using Salesforce or other CRM systems. The candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to environmental and social justice, with some knowledge of the issues addressed by Global Greengrants Fund. Additionally, they will have experience working with diverse global communities in a virtual environment.

The ideal candidate will be committed to shifting power in philanthropy, promoting trust-based and power-shifting approaches to philanthropy and grantmaking. The candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to environmental and social justice, aligning with the issues Global Greengrants Fund addresses. Additionally, they will excel in building strong alliances with diverse constituencies and managing complex relationships, having experience working with diverse communities worldwide, particularly in a virtual setting.

• Job purpose: To help grow unrestricted income for Health Poverty Action through community and corporate partnerships. 
• Location: Home-based, within commuting distance to London for events and meetings. 
• Salary: £26,095 rising in length of service increments to £29,832.

Your key responsibilities will be flexible. You’ll manage your workload and set objectives, priorities and deadlines with the Head of Fundraising. Your work will include: 

• Partnerships Fundraising: You’ll lead and grow our partnerships fundraising portfolio by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new prospective partnerships. You will prepare proposals, pitches, and reports based on key funding needs, and implement stewardship plans to retain support, maximising partnership value. 

• Community Fundraising: You’ll manage community-based fundraising efforts, including coordinating with other organisations. Develop new community fundraising initiatives and engage volunteers, working to maintain an established network of volunteers which support community fundraising activities.

• Events Fundraising: You will manage our fundraising events, including the London Marathon. This will include recruitment, resourcing, relationship-building and supporting our event participants in their fundraising efforts. We are also excited for you to develop and oversee other innovative and profitable one-off events. 

• Fundraising Management: You will monitor and report on fundraising activities, manage relevant website pages, and ensure effective administration and record-keeping. You’ll need to stay abreast of industry trends and react accordingly to maximize opportunities.
