Purpose

This is an exciting time at CBM UK, as we continue to grow and develop our philanthropic

fundraising. To help us achieve our ambitious long-term goals this role requires an

experienced and passionate individual to be part of our Philanthropy Team.

This vital role will lead the programme to build and grow our relationships with High-Net-

Worth Individuals (Major Donors) over the next five years and beyond. Working alongside

the Head of Philanthropy, you will seek to build upon current relationships, as well as

identifying, researching and cultivating relationships with new and lapsed major donors to

increase income for CBM UK’s work.

CBM is a Christian charity, and as a key supporter facing role, the position holder will

represent CBM’s purpose and ethos to all external audiences and will be sympathetic and

embracing of Christian beliefs and values.

You will be part of a dynamic and highly skilled Fundraising and Communications team,

dedicated to inspiring people in the UK to help transform lives in some of the world’s

poorest places.

Responsibilities and areas of work

This important role will seek to develop our Major Donor income stream, seeking to grow

both numbers of donors and income raised. At CBM, a Major Donor is considered to be

one who has the capacity to give £5,000+ per year and who relishes the opportunity to

have one-to-one, personalised interactions with CBM.

This role will seek to identify new high-level donors, as well as help to develop existing

relationships with our generous supporters.

Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Leadership Team, other team

members and (occasionally) external consultants, this role focusses on building and

consolidating our major donor portfolio, so increasing our donor base and thus our in-year

and pledged income.

Main Goal:

To successfully steward a portfolio of new and existing major donors through tailored

approaches, so securing repeat and multi-year gifts to achieve agreed income targets and

KPIs.

This will be achieved through:

1. New business acquisition:

a) Analysing our current supporter base to build a prospect list, using our database

(Salesforce) and external databases, to assess the potential to upgrade active,

lapsed and prospective major donors.

b) Researching, identifying and securing major donor prospects, through the

identification of high-net-worth individuals who may have an interest in CBM’s work,

and through proactive and effective networking, including working with our Trustees,

Patrons and Ambassadors.

c) Identifying next steps and determining tactics for engagement, including 1:1

working, giving group presentations and delivering pitches at various levels, and

leading on their facilitation.

d) Attending networking opportunities in Cambridge, London and the surrounding

areas to represent CBM and to engage potential major donors in our work

2. Stewardship and cultivation of current and active donors:

a) Developing and implementing tailored cultivation and stewardship plans, so that

individuals are engaged in a bespoke manner, ensuring that they feel a part of CBM

and that their generosity is recognised, through regular reporting, interactions,

updates and tailored approaches.

b) Developing donor-centric applications, proposals and initial approaches (by post,

email, phone and face-to-face) that are driven by insight on donors’ individual needs

and preferences and are tailored to their interests and requirements, following up as

required.

c) Reporting to donors in both formal and informal ways, as appropriate, to ensure

they are kept up to date with CBM, the impact of their grant and project

developments.

d) Hosting and facilitating face-to-face and online meetings with high-level donors,

including organising dates, venues and agendas/ talking points, and creating

Meeting Briefs for all attendees to ensure positive outcomes as far as possible.

e) Promoting the importance of legacies, and legacy income, where appropriate, and

to steward those who have pledged.

f) Organising and managing the successful delivery of at least one Major Donor Event

annually (cultivation, stewardship, thanking etc), to ensure positive relations and

potential new business, in collaboration with our Fundraising and Programme

colleagues.

g) Supporting the Head of Philanthropy and the Philanthropy Officer on the

identification, stewardship and cultivation of potential corporate partners.

3. Proposal and Report Writing

a) Crafting compelling proposals and reports that meet the bespoke needs of major

donors whilst meeting the needs of CBM and our Programme delivery colleagues,

within agreed deadlines.

b) Working with members of the Programmes Team to ensure the accuracy of major

donor proposals / reports, and with members of the Fundraising & Communications

Team to ensure consistency of messaging.

c) Working with the Philanthropy Team to develop new projects/ themes/ appeals for

potential projects.

d) Supporting the Head of Philanthropy on collating information and providing reports

to Foundation donors as needed.

4. Planning and Budgeting

a) Contributing to the development of an Income Generation and Engagement

strategy, led by the Director of Fundraising, Impact & Communications.

b) Closely monitoring income and expenditure, reporting to the Head of Philanthropy

where necessary, and contributing to the creation of yearly fundraising budgets and

plans and quarterly Board Reports.

c) Establishing, monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, milestones

and targets to facilitate informed decisions and improved working practice.

5. Other

a) Ensuring all information, donor activity is recorded and kept up-to-date on our

database to fully-inform any approaches/meetings.

b) Providing proof-reading and copy-editing support to colleagues.

c) Helping to develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of

CBM, and promoting positive working and innovation.

d) Ensuring that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and

always reflected in communications.

e) Carrying out any additional duties as required by the Head of Philanthropy and

Director of Fundraising, Impact and Communications.

Call for Expression of Interest

Economic Empowerment Evaluation Consultancy

Anticipated timeframe: December 2024 to end of August 2025Location: Remote with in-country work in Malawi, Nairobi,  Kenya and/or Lagos, Nigeria

Sightsavers works with partners in over 30 countries across Africa and South Asia to eliminate avoidable blindness and support the empowerment of people with disabilities to learn, earn and participate equally in society.

Sightsavers’ Empowerment and Inclusion Strategic Framework explains our rights-based approach to social inclusion and our commitment to the progressive mainstreaming of disability throughout our programming. It underpins all our social inclusion work and complements our other global strategies on eye health, education, NTDs and research. The core objectives of the unrestricted portfolio include increasing access to economic empowerment pathways for people with disabilities, removing barriers in market systems, and leveraging initial seed funding to secure larger donor investments.

Purpose

The key purpose of this evaluation is to review and document the experience of implementation from the past two years to inform future strategic decision making. Sightsavers is seeking a Consultancy to conduct a comprehensive evaluation aimed at understanding the models and approaches that demonstrate effective pathways towards inclusive employment, contributing to the evidence and knowledge base of Sightsavers’ economic empowerment portfolio. The evaluation will place a particular emphasis on how the design and delivery of programmes might be enhanced for future programmatic work including a deep dive into two specific project approaches, IT academies and agriculture.

The Consultancy will be expected to evaluate the project level data and materials as well as primary data collected and consider if and how the projects have contributed towards the programme theory of change.

Scope of Work

The Consultancy will evaluate:

• If the purpose of the unrestricted portfolio has been achieved
• What models or approaches demonstrate improvement in economic inclusion of people with disabilities
• What partnership models are effective in providing leadership on inclusive employment
• What prevents or motivates the provision of a full range of products and services by financial institutions to people with disabilities. How we can use this knowledge to drive greater financial inclusion

Key Deliverables

• Inception report drafted and finalised
• Desk review document/data review and analysis
• IT academy case study
• Malawi agriculture project case study
• Discussion of desk review and case study findings at the programme workshop

Timeline

The consultancy is expected to be conducted between December 2024 to end of August 2025.

Sightsavers will welcome expressions of interest from qualified independent evaluators or consultancy companies. An individual or team with members located in the relevant countries (Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria) would be preferred. The Consultancy and team members should have the following core competencies and experience.

Consultancy’s expertise

• Depth of knowledge conducting evaluations of economic empowerment programmes
• Previous experience working in West and East African countries, particularly Malawi, Kenya and/or Nigeria
• A proven track record of working on disability inclusion
• Previous experience developing and evaluating Theories of Change
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Ability to conduct comprehensive desktop summaries and case studies
• First class production of high-quality evaluation reports
• Understanding of the labour markets, socio-economic and cultural contexts of the programme countries
• Understanding of issues related to people with disabilities
• Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and reporting
• Flexibility to conduct required data collection in Malawi, Kenya and/or Nigeria

A consultancy with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process.

The deadline for the Consultancy to submit their bid is Thursday 5 December 2024, 23.30pm GMT UK.

Interviews are intended to be conducted the week of the 9th December 2024 onwards. The interview process will be conducted virtually using Microsoft Teams, with an interview lasting up to 1 hour. A second interview may be conducted if required.

Our partner is a well-respected advocacy INGO. They are seeking to recruit a Project Accountant to provide financial management support to project managers and their oversea offices.

Responsibilities

• Finance business partner to project teams and country offices, offering financial management support.
• Prepare project budgets, monitor expenditure and cashflows, and prepare management accounts, including variance analyses and supporting narrative reports.
• Grant management, compliance and reporting – preparing financial reports to donors, ensuring that these meet their requirements.
• Review the capacity of overseas offices, and support with capacity building as required.

• Ensure the integrity and operational effectiveness of project accounting procedures, developing, and maintaining these as required, and supporting and coaching junior staff as required.

Person Specification

• Accountant, qualified or QBE, with at least 5 years of experience in accounting, an understanding of accounting & finance principles and management accounting & reporting.
• Experience of project accounting, grant compliance & management is desirable; an understanding of the grant compliance & reporting requirements of the EU and German government grants is desirable.
• Strong IT skills, including advanced MSExcel skills. Competence in SQL an advantage.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate financial matters to non-finance staff.

About the Opportunity

RI has recently entered into a partnership with Takeda Pharmaceuticals, to implement a four-year project medical supply chain project. This project will focus on building the capacity of 20 local pharmaceutical and medical device suppliers in four countries where Relief International (RI) has existing programming: Afghanistan, Yemen, Myanmar, and Syria.

Providing technical leadership, the project Pharmacy Manager working in close collaboration with the Project Director and project Supply Chain Manager, will support activities of the project deliverables.

Your Responsibilities

This role includes the following responsibilities.

• Lead on national health stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support for the project and its sustainability post project (medical regulatory authority, ministry of health, pharmacy associations, public sector medical procurement departments).
• Work with national peer health stakeholders to ensure their understanding, and engagement / support for the project (iNGOs, Health Clusters, aid management partners, UN stakeholders.
• Reach out to other iNGOs active in the project countries to harmonize product portfolios, and develop support for quality standards
• Champion the RI database for medical products including the RI Medical Supply List (MSL), manufacturers, distributors to include relevant quality data about products and suppliers
• Help the Supply Chain and Procurement Coordinator on sourcing and verifying medical assurance quality certificates with local suppliers to enable RI to conduct and improve local medical supply procurement
• Support sub-contractor activities as agreed in the sub-contractor agreement, and Collaborating with the Pharmacy advisor, lead in conducting regular reviews and assessments of sub-contractor work and progress and providing inputs into required reports

About You

You will bring the following experience and skills.

• A master's or bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a related field, OR equivalent working experience.
• Proven experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders in challenging environments, and working with large medical supply components in complex contexts
• Track record in project progress monitoring, tracking and reporting, qualitative and quantitative
• Knowledge of donor and other international medical quality assurance standards, and skills with host country institutions, and international organizations. 
• Comprehensive understanding of medical product quality assurance certification
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating programs with a technical scope similar to the activity, especially focusing on medical procurement & supply chain. 
• Being able to successfully operate in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and technical areas.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Fluency in English required.

The Job

Tiko is a fast-growing and ambitious African non-profit linking vulnerable girls and women to sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence support services in Sub-Saharan Africa via our innovative digital platform. A recent transformational multi-million pound grant is kick-starting us on our way to taking our fundraising and our organization to the next level. As such, we are looking for a experienced, driven New Business Development Lead with a solid track record in personally securing 6 – 7 figure grants from new donors, whether government, institutional, INGOs and/or large trusts and foundations, to join our NBD team.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to:

• Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify high quality new donor leads for Tiko and proactively track and respond to large funding opportunities and RFPs, helping us continuously build and enhance our prospect pipeline
• Carry out detailed research and mappings to identify existing links with potential donors, whether through our leadership, Board, donors etc. and recommend pathways to relationship building
• Lead and manage the full proposal development process - from identification of the funding opportunity and detailed review of eligibility/suitability to assess our likelihood of success, through to creating buy-in around responsibilities and timelines, motivating and organizing internal stakeholders, guiding players through every step in the proposal process, gathering inputs from technical leads, working with finance teams on budget development, creating supplementary materials, to rolling up your sleeves and writing the proposal and supporting documents as required (Theories of Change, Risk Matrices, Log Frames etc.).
• Deliver significant funding from new donors (candidates will be expected to show evidence of winning funding of a minimum of 6 figures)
• Create high quality fundraising materials tailored to the needs of specific donor audiences e.g. concept notes, slide decks etc.
• Support the systematization and increased efficiency of fundraising at Tiko through timely updating of Salesforce, and general best practice usage of our tools and project management system (Asana).

We are open to remote work for this position and will happily accept applicants from the UK, Kenya, and South Africa, with a preference that the postholder joins their team in their local office one day a week.

About You

You have a deep passion for using your skills in leveraging funding to make the world a better, more equitable place, and an ability to balance big picture, strategic thinking and design with getting tangible activities operationalised. Specifically:

• You are an exceptional writer, with an ability to produce compelling proposals, tailored to the specific needs and interests of different donors. These might be technical, institutional bids, requiring ToCs, logframes etc, ‘Big Bet’ pitches which will rely on powerful storytelling or applications to large foundations, among others.
• Sitting within the small but growing NBD team, you are nonetheless comfortable working autonomously (with the role being majority remote), while building the connections needed across our global team to get the information you need to raise funds for Tiko.

Experience and Eligibility Criteria

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fundraising role(s), with a preference for experience in institutional, trust/foundation and/or Big Bet philanthropy, and evidence of personal track record in bringing in new funding.
• Experience working for an international development NGO is desirable, particularly in the space of SRH, SGBV and/or women and girls’ rights more broadly.
• Willingness to join the team in the local office ideally one day per week and for occasional international travel (1 - 2 weeks per year)

4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

4.1 Securing resources

• Coordinate, facilitate, and lead the development, review, and quality assurance of expressions of interest, concept notes and full proposals for funding opportunities;
• Liaise and coordinate with internal stakeholders as well as with donors, partners, and consortia to facilitate project design, align proposal and donor requirements, gather required legal and administrative documentation, and draft sections of proposals as needed;
• Coordinate processes of contracting and negotiation, engaging relevant stakeholders, and ensuring contracts ‘get over the line’ in a timely and efficient way;
• When needed, provide direct hands-on support at field level in design of concept notes, proposals, and budgets and conduct donor or field visits to support discussions with new and existing donors/partners;

4.2 Grant management

• Manage and monitor a portfolio of grants through regular interface and coordination with AKF(UK)’s partnerships team, AKF(UK)’s finance team and relevant AKF/AKDN agencies/field units, acting as a central resource for field units in donor best practice;
• Interface with donors and communicate on a regular basis about the implementation of on-going grants to ensure strong, enduring relationships;
• Ensure strong relationship cultivation throughout the grants cycle, anticipate, and plan for future funding and project extensions;
• Oversight, coordination, review, and quality assurance of donor deliverables (e.g. work plans, monitoring and evaluation plans, staffing plans, budgets, close-out plans, donor troubleshooting);
• Ensure adherence with donor requirements, rules, and regulations, and that grant deliverables are produced on time and to a high standard;
• Coordinate contractual amendments, changes, and project adaptations, engage with donors in a pro-active and diplomatic way, and flag potential changes (e.g. budget revisions, extensions, risks) in advance to ‘trouble shoot’ and ensure smooth project implementation;
• Facilitate grant monitoring efforts including routine coordination meetings, donor steering committees, donor project visits, and donor monitoring missions;
• Undertake coordination and administrative tasks related to grants and support the maintenance and update of grant management tools and tracking systems such as AIMS.

4.3 Donor engagement and positioning

• Support the partnership unit in researching, sourcing relevant information, and performing analysis of market trends on new donors, peer organisations, and funding opportunities to identify potential funding and partnering matches for AKF and AKDN priorities;
• Work with country teams, AKDN agencies, and the Global Programmes Team (GPT) to identify, build, and support strategic partnerships on aligned global and regional initiatives, innovations and themes with likeminded donors and partners;
• Develop positioning materials (e.g. presentations, capability statements, briefs, talking points), collaborating with communications teams, to enable effective donor engagement;
• Engage with new and existing donors and partners to identify solicited and unsolicited funding opportunities;
• Guide teams to make informed, effective decisions on which opportunities to pursue (including ‘Go No-Go’ requests);
• Identify, cultivate, and pre-position with partner organisations to form or join consortia focused funding bids;
• Conduct due diligence on new partners in coordination with finance and partnerships teams.

4.4 Influencing development and communicating practical lessons and results

• Support the influencing of the development sector by convening and participating at events (e.g. conferences, roundtables, policy forums) to share lessons, innovations and knowledge about our programmes that position us as ‘thought leaders’;
• Engage communications teams to identify opportunities and support the development of content (e.g. social media campaigns, videos) that promote AKF and AKDN’s work and position us as ‘partners of choice’ in the sector. Role Purpose

The Senior Accountant will be part of the Khalsa Aid Management Team and will report to the CFO.  You will provide financial leadership in all financial areas including production of monthly accounts; financial controls; general accounting; budgets; financial planning and analysis; policy management and adherence; compliance; risk; exchange rate management; key business and financial processes; cost management and auditing. Financial & Operational Management

• Preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials and metrics; including monthly Business Performance Report, KPI’s, and Management Accounts, Project Aid reporting as well as annual financial reports

   • Monitor bills, invoicing, donations, and other transactions.

Salary:        £53,000 - £55,000 per annum

About the role

We are looking for an individual with substantial experience of working in government or statutory funding to be responsible for developing institutional donor relationships, both directly and in support of other members of the Institutional Funding team. Working with the Director and Heads of Institutional Funding, the Senior Advisor will lead on contract management and maintain key institutional donor relationships for some of our largest funding agreements. The post holder will engage with senior internal stakeholders at head office, consortium working groups and country offices to support project implementation.

You will join at an exciting time for Sightsavers and the Institutional Funding team as we engage in new partnerships, supporting new contracts and bids.  Key accountabilities will include:

We are partnering with Tearfund on this new role, which will co-lead the Church and Supporter Engagement team.  This role, the Head of Church and Supporter Engagement (Churches), will focus on developing relationships with churches to maximise income and engagement.

Tearfund is a Christian organisation who work with local churches and organisations in over 50 countries to tackle the complex challenges of poverty and support the lives of those in greatest economic need, through sustainable development, and by responding to disasters and challenging injustice. You will be responsible for growing the number of churches giving and engaging with Tearfund, growing the number of individuals engaged through churches and events, retaining and building loyalty among existing supporting churches, and growing income and engagement with new church networks.

Your responsibilities include achieving challenging annual fundraising targets, both cash income and regular giving, aligned with the UK fundraising strategy. You will work to ensure that all fundraising activity is aligned with Tearfund’s wider vision, mission, and brand identity. As part of this, you will manage agency partners for fundraising campaigns and will be responsible for a large, complex budget. You will lead a team of approximately 25 people across the UK

Your leadership will be vital in shaping a team culture of growth, ambition, and spiritual leadership. You’re someone who sees fundraising as more than just a numbers game - you see it as a ministry, building a network of supporters who share a heart for Tearfund’s mission.
