Main duties/responsibilities:

Ashinaga UK is seeking a driven and well-organised Partnerships Manager to propel our fundraising efforts, with the goal of advancing the Ashinaga Africa Initiative by securing funding to create new scholarships and opportunities for orphaned youth. This role will play a key part in expanding our impact and supporting the education and leadership development of young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa.
The Ashinaga movement was founded in Japan in the 1960s and has since expanded across the globe, empowering over 110,000 orphaned youth with access to education and support to achieve their full potential. The Ashinaga Africa Initiative was launched 10 years ago with the aim of equipping future leaders for Africa through undergraduate scholarships and leadership development opportunities. Ashinaga UK is proud to be part of this global movement, contributing to the mission of transforming lives and communities through education. Our work is primarily in the UK through collaboration with key university partners and donors.
The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for securing and building funding partnerships, overseeing external communications, and grant applications. The Partnerships Manager will work closely with the Managing Director. This is a part-time role.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Managing Director to develop and execute the fundraising strategy.
- Manage existing funding partnerships.
- Secure partnerships with corporations, foundations, individual donors, and UK universities to advance our mission and support our programming.
- Identify new funding opportunities, cultivate relationships, write proposals, and report on progress.
- Write grant proposals to secure funding from grant-making bodies.
- Oversee the partnerships database, donor reporting, and contribute to the annual Charity Commission trustee report.

About the Role:
As a critical thought leader, communicator, and connector, the Policy Analyst - Private Sector will be a critical resource for WaterAid to advance the private sector’s contribution to WASH, working closely with other colleagues across the organisation, and developing informed WaterAid positions and advocacy on the key areas through which WaterAid can work to influence the behaviours and actions of these critical actors in the achievement of water security and WASH services.
In this role, you will support the development of a coherent and evidence-based narrative on the private sector’s contribution to improving water security and WASH outcomes with an emphasis on their role in the delivery of WASH services and impacts on water resources.
You’ll also:
- Understand and document the the best models of WASH service delivery where the private sector has played a key role.
- Support the development of frameworks for integrating WASH into the most salient corporate sustainability mechanisms (both social and environmental), building on existing work completed at WaterAid and facilitating their adoption.
- Lead the work of documenting and developing case studies of positive private sector actions across the federation working closely with colleagues working on private sector projects or approaches.
- Develop a strong project management system for tracking progress and support delivery of all centrally managed WaterAid private sector initiatives, working closely with leads.
- Work with colleagues to conduct analyses of policies that enable the uptake and implementation of the most impactful private sector actions, across service providers to impactors and financiers, for WASH.
- Lead work with Communications and Media teams to disseminate research through media and social media channels and internal communications working with colleagues in program support and knowledge team.
- Coordinate, support and accompany technical and policy leads to represent WaterAid at key meetings, and act as lead when they are not available.

Requirements
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Very strong project management skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with and across key internal stakeholders across different geographies, in establishing the necessary evidence, policy positions and research gaps.
- Knowledge and experience working with private sector actors (with an emphasis on service providers) and understanding how they can provide solutions for improved WASH outcomes, including the key enabling factors necessary.
- Knowledge, interest, and experience in working in and developing frameworks related to corporate sustainability (both environmental and social) that impact on WASH outcomes,
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English with proven experience of authoring high-impact policy briefs

- Masters’ degree, or post-graduate qualifications and research experience in a relevant water related or development field AND/OR significant experience in private sector delivery of WASH Services

The Private Sector Partnerships Division (PSP) sits within the Office of Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications under the overall oversight of the Director General. About Us: The Makhad Trust is a UK registered charity dedicated to sustaining the environment and natural heritage of the Bedouin tribes in the Sinai Mountains and Desert in Egypt. Our focus on supporting them is by renewing access to water and supporting traditional lifestyles. The Bedouin are a marginalised community, who are barred from many forms of employment yet receive little or no help from Egyptian authorities. A 15+ year drought dried up wells, then collapse of the tourism industry in 2013 bought unemployment, and huge floods have filled in wells. Access to drinking water is difficult. The Trust gives support through restoration of wells for drinking and growing food, and building small dams, and small projects such as beekeeping training, herb growing and carpentry training. Restored wells provide drinking water and ability to grow crops for eating, promoting health and well being, and for income.
About the Role: This unique UK based dual role combines fundraising and administration in the UK with practical project initiatives in Sinai, Egypt. You will be instrumental in transforming lives by ensuring access to clean water and supporting sustainable livelihoods in a unique way by both supporting Sinai Trust in office operationally and directly in the field. The successful candidate will be travelling to Sinai for 2 weeks 4 times per year and will involve visiting ongoing well restorations, assessing new wells for restoration, cataloguing the costs by the well owner, and paying the well owner for the work done. Some of these will be easier to access, given their proximity to nearby roads compared to others which require a 3 hour walk into the high mountains to reach with steep mountainside journeys with no visible paths so the successful candidate will need to be mountain fit. Through these journeys you will be accompanied by our Sinai manager who is a Bedouin from the local town and will act as a guide and provide local knowledge.

We are seeking a project manager to join our International team to manage funds, budgets and accounts and become familiar with the working of local administration and legal requirements relating to partner organisations. - Partnership Coordination: Support and facilitate effective internal communication and coordination between Schools2030 Global Research Partners, Schools2030 country teams, and relevant Schools2030 Technical Partners for effective project implementation.
- Network Building: Organise and facilitate quarterly virtual meetings with all Schools2030 Research Partners to ensure learnings and findings are shared and amplified within the group
- Programme Oversight: Coordinate all Schools2030 Global Research Partner reporting requirements through final review, edit, and submission of midterm and final reports outlining progress made on outputs and outcomes as stated in their research proposals.
