Responsibilities of our Management Accountant:
- work closely with Budget Holders to provide expert support and insight to aid financial decisionmaking
- provide financial reports and analysis for the Charity and its trading subsidiary, including the production of monthly management accounts and support the production of the statutory accounts and the related external audit
- deliver the budgetsetting and reforecasting processes and provide financial expertise and support to budget-holders across the charity, working closely with the rest of the team to deliver a joined up and robust set of numbers and commentary
- provide analytical skills for strategic and operational improvements, including reviewing business cases and supporting projects
- work collaboratively with the rest of the team to deliver financial planning and analysis functions, as well as supporting the wider Finance team to deliver an efficient and effective service to the Charity
About the Finance team:
- responsible for managing the financial operations of the Charity
- plays a vital role in the organisation’s success by ensuring sound financial management, betterinformed decision making and supporting delivery of the overall strategy
- responsibility for key tasks such as budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting and analysis
- the Management Accounts team are a team of five, reporting into the Senior Management Accountant, all of whom support the Head of Budgeting & Reporting
- the wider Finance team includes the Operational Finance team, including AP, financial accounting and payroll
What we’re looking for in our Management Accountant:
- CCAB qualification
- Collaborative and proactive approach, working with Finance and wider colleagues to solve problems and continually improve the work we do
- Confident in the use of accounting packages, data manipulation and assimilation of information from multiple sources
- Methodical, concise working ethic and business acumen
- Experience of the Management Accountant role in a large organisation (250+ employees)
- Experience of working with a broad range of Budget Holders and business areas, providing support and advice around financial management issues
- The ability to explain financial related matters to nontechnical customers, with excellent oral & written communications skills
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence change
- Experience of working in the charity/not for profit sector OR adaptable and comfortable in tackling this new environment

About the team
This role sits within Shelter’s Technology and Data Department (T&D), encompassing IT, Data and Insight, Data Compliance and Business Enablement, the department is made up of circa 50 people based in across the country with bases in London, Sheffield and Edinburgh. The Ukraine Humanitarian appeal raised £426 million and helped an estimated 6.9 million people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The Grants Manager is integral in working closely with DEC colleagues and members to build and sustain, a solid understanding of the evolving humanitarian context. The Grants Manager will maintain strong oversight of the DEC funded programme including the reporting cycle, adaptive programming and facilitate strong and relevant engagement with DEC member charities and local partners and external briefings over the duration of the response.
Key responsibilities:
Communication and Collaboration
· Key programmes point of contact regarding the DEC funded programme, responding to enquiries from member charity programmes and other related staff, facilitating timely and accurate communication.
· Maintain strong understanding of response context.
· Manage and provide timely, response briefings to internal and external audiences, key stakeholders including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office [FCDO] and, other key stakeholders.
Analysis and Reporting

The Role
The Programme Funding Manager provides cross-team support to strengthen the organisation’s funding and budget management functions and ensure the successful delivery of GGF’s grantmaking and other programmatic activities. The candidate profile
The ideal candidate for this role will have substantial experience in a similar capacity within charitable, environmental, development, social justice, feminist, gender, or human rights organisations, particularly in an international setting. They will be adept at enhancing collaboration across multiple functional teams, including those operating internationally, to ensure effective and compliant funding and budget management, especially with restricted income. The candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in designing, managing, and refining systems and processes for better budget management and donor compliance in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Their experience should include managing large, multi-year programmatic budgets exceeding $5 million and ensuring adherence to donor agreements and regulatory requirements, such as those of the Charity Commission.

Do you enjoy working in cross-functional teams to design end-to-end services and experiences? We are looking for a brilliant Service Designer to join our team, designing, building and iterating services and products that span the whole of RNID. You should have professional experience working as a Service Designer or in another similar role. Our Service Designer will design user-centred experiences for complex services. You will:

Elrha is a global organisation that finds solutions to complex humanitarian problems through research and innovation. We are looking to recruit a Digital and Creative Communications Manager on a 5 month paternity cover contract.
Are you a creative communicator? Are you able to develop and curate digital content that sparks conversation? We are seeking a highly skilled and resourceful Communications Manager to cover a 9-month maternity leave period. Founded in 2015 through a collaboration between Oceana, SkyTruth, and Google, Global Fishing Watch became an independent nonprofit organization in June 2017. Our major focus is on commercial fishing because it is the most widespread human activity at sea, the most impactful on ocean health, and the most crucial for global livelihoods and food security. About the Role:
We are hiring a Fundraising Grants and Reporting Manager at an exciting time for the organization. In April 2023, Global Fishing Watch secured a five-year, US$60 million commitment through The Audacious Project to leverage our data and technology to revolutionize ocean management. This new role will play a foundational part in establishing the grant management process at Global Fishing Watch and shaping its future. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the grant management system and processes, ensuring our fundraising team can deliver first class stewardship and relationship management. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the prime responsibilities of this position are to support fundraising and consequently program teams in ensuring compliant, timely and high-quality donor reporting and grant management and knowledge management. Qualified candidates will bring proven experience coordinating with team members to gather necessary information and translate it into reports that effectively engage and inspire funders. They will need to meticulously review reports to identify gaps and follow up for clarifications as needed. The role requires strong written and oral communications skills, the ability to build and maintain new relationships, and a talent for enhancing existing partnerships.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Grant management:
- Manage the tracking, preparation and submission of funder reports, including working with the project and finance teams to produce timely and accurate narrative and financial reports.
- Improve processes and support coordination of grant opening, review and closing meetings, working with teams in the UK and globally to ensure clear assignment and understanding of responsibilities in relation to compliance, management and deadlines.
- Work with finance, compliance and program teams to ensure that all grant-funded projects comply with the terms and conditions set by funders.
- Work with program and finance teams to ensure effective systems and processes are in place for grant management and compliance, such as for tracking grant timelines, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with colleagues and partners to gather necessary insights and information for donor reports, translating program activities and learning into clear funding reports that effectively communicate our impact to our funders and supporters.
- Contribute to Global Fishing Watch’s annual report as needed, and provide updates to the communications team on relevant website copy, specifically the donor information on the financials web page.
- Ensure all grant documentation is stored and updated in relevant systems.
- Conduct regular meetings with program and finance teams to review grant performance and expenditure.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with grant compliance, such as underperformance, budget overspend/underspend, or missed deadlines.
- Work with finance and program teams to develop contingency plans for addressing challenges that may arise during the grant lifecycle.
- Share ideas, information and learning to contribute to grant management systems and processes, and to support broader learning with partners and donors.
- Support, advise and coach the Global Fishing Watch team to successfully contribute to grant management efforts.
Required Skills & Experience
- A minimum of four years of progressively responsible administrative, finance, operations, project management or related experience.
- Grant administration experience, including demonstrated expertise in managing complex, multi-year grants with multiple reporting and compliance requirements.
- Experience with financial management and budgeting, particularly in the context of grant-funded projects.
- Experience of effective and values-based partnership work between international and local organizations and communities.
- Excellent oral communication, writing and editing skills. Demonstrated experience/training in report writing and expressing complex concepts and issues in a clear, effective manner for a broad range of audiences
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
