Role description:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Communications & Publications Officer to lead on crafting compelling written content across Southampton Hospitals Charity’s key communication channels. You will be responsible for producing high-quality publications, case studies, and press materials that engage supporters, hospital staff, and the wider community.
Working closely with the Campaigns and Marketing Manager and Digital Marketing and Content Officer, you will ensure stories and impact case studies are effectively shared across print and digital channels, supporting fundraising and brand awareness.
Main Responsibilities:
Content creation & publications

Research, write, and edit compelling copy for a range of publications, including impact reports, newsletters, magazines, and brochures.

Write engaging press releases and manage media relations.

Work with designers and printers to produce high-quality print materials, ensuring the Southampton Hospitals Charity brand is consistent throughout.

Work with photographers to ensure the charity has an extensive bank of patient and UHS staff photography to use across marketing collateral and communications.
Fundraising & supporter engagement

Develop and manage case studies that showcase the impact of fundraising and donations, including taking photos of projects and interviewing staff and patients where needed.

Person Specification:
Knowledge & Experience

What will I be doing?

To be successful in the role you will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Social Sciences, International Development, Management/Business, or related fields.
You will also have some experience and/or proven aptitude and ability to learn quickly in the following professional areas:

Role Context and Purpose

About this job
In this role you will be providing emotional support and information to people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) that empowers them to; live to their full potential, take an active role in their treatment and secure the care and support they need. We are looking for an experienced Database professional to join us as our new Database Marketing Officer. You will work collaboratively across the whole fundraising team, implementing strategies for targeted marketing campaigns. The role will be responsible for the extraction of data from the Hospice CRM system as well as providing insight & evaluation of marketing campaigns.
This will be a crucial role in the team, working collaboratively and delivering work that helps drive forward our fundraising activity and ensuring that we are making data led decisions in everything we do. This will involve the implementation of KPI’s, analysis of previous activity as well as discovering opportunities to expand our audience from our CRM system.
The role will require someone who is able to work with multiple stakeholders. Building effective relationships across all areas of the Hospice and communicating complex information in a clear and concise manner.

The role: We seek a dynamic development officer to join our team. This role is key to enhancing our funding base and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of our development programs. Key responsibilities:

About the role:
On the back of continued growth due to successful fundraising performance over the last 5 years, we are ready to take the next step in our fundraising strategy and launch a Philanthropy Giving programme. You will bring expertise and skills in this field to support the fundraising team and build on the already strong stewardship and engagement we have with key individuals.
An experienced fundraiser or business development professional, you will relish the opportunity to own and launch the strategy and implement a long-term engagement plan to strengthen High Value relationships that will deliver a new and sustainable income stream.
The role is new and on an initial fixed term contract of 12 months but with the potential to make the role permanent if the strategy succeeds.

About you:
You're likely to be a seasoned philanthropy professional, ideally with a track record securing gifts.
You will be comfortable in working closely with a Senior Leadership team and Board.
With an understanding of philanthropy and what makes major donors tick, you will also have the appetite and aptitude to develop new relationships from scratch.
The role will be a good mix of stewarding existing relationships and building brand-new ones. Therefore, you will need to be comfortable and confident researching and developing new contacts, harnessing the potential of existing networks and working closely with the wider organisation.
A key part to the role will be to deliver engagement activities, therefore event planning and project management skills are important.
