We are seeking a Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) to work mainly on our Research Grant Programme. As part of our Research Funding team, you will support high quality and innovative research on the effects of diet, nutrition, physical activity, and body size on cancer prevention and survival, managing an international portfolio of projects and working closely with leading researchers around the world.
In addition to the Research Grant programme, you will have the opportunity to contribute to other Research Funding activities such as our Academy programme and work closely with colleagues across the Science department and with other departments such as PR & Editorial and Fundraising.
The Research Funding Officer (Research Impact) will work mainly on the post award phase (e.g. active monitoring of funded projects, liaison with our grant holders, supporting our Academy programme initiative and evaluation of the impact of our funded research).
You will have experience working in a fast-paced research environment, whether in academia or research administration/management. Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills are essential for engaging a diverse range of audiences. Additionally, you should possess a solid understanding of statistical analysis. A Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or Nutrition is required, while a Master’s degree is preferred but not essential. An interest in science communication and social media is also desirable.

This role will join the Acquisition and Welcome Team, and will help to optimise acquisition activity, managing key channels including Direct Response TV (DRTV) and inserts, to support ambitious supporter growth as part of the charity’s 5-year strategy. As part of the role, you will manage all aspects of the DRTV programme, from working closely with agencies to proposing annual testing plans, to delivering all tests across media, SMS, telemarketing and website landing pages. This role requires managing agencies effectively, and maintaining robust reporting. You will be the expert in this area, and will raise understanding within Brooke of the importance of DRTV.
To be successful in the role of Senior Acquisition and Welcome Officer, you will need:
- Proven experience working in a fundraising or marketing role, with some experience managing DRTV and print channels, either on client or agency side.
- Good understanding of individual giving fundraising KPIs, including in relation to DRTV, print, telemarketing, email and landing pages.

About EFA
English for Action provides free, participatory, and empowering English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes for migrants in London. Our classes are spaces to build community and support students to organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. Our work currently supports around 400 adult migrants across London. We’ve become a national centre of good practice for a radical participatory approach to ESOL, informed by the work of Paulo Freire, and we share this approach through training, research and partnerships.
Organisation: We are a staff team of 8 people supported by a larger team of volunteers and 9 trustees. EFA promotes shared leadership and collaboration and we aim for our organisational structure to reflect this. In the last 4 years we’ve transitioned away from having a CEO to an executive team to oversee operations and decision-making. As a charity, ultimate responsibility for, and control of, the organisation lies with the Board of Trustees.
Fundraising at EFA: We have one permanent fundraiser at EFA, who works two days per week on this area of work. The majority of EFA’s funding comes from charitable trusts and foundations but we are also funded directly by some of our partner institutions to provide courses for their members. We receive some local authority/EU funding as well. We raise additional funds through individual giving, corporate relationships and earned income. About the role
We’re looking for a Legacy Marketing Officer to join our Individual Giving and Legacy Team.
It’s an exciting time to join the Legacy Team as we are embarking on a new era for legacy and in memory giving at Young Lives vs Cancer. In memory giving and gifts in Wills left to us by our supporters are essential to ensuring we can help generations of children and young people who will sadly be living with a cancer diagnosis. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Legacy Marketing Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting the Legacy Marketing Manager to plan, implement and deliver legacy and in-memory strategies.
The Legacy Officer will work on a range of legacy and in-memory campaigns, materials and supporter centric journeys across multiple channels. As a team we will maximise legacy and in memory giving and acquire new legacy and in memory supporters, as well as nurturing existing supporters who have expressed an interest in leaving a gift in their Will for the future of Young Lives vs Cancer’s work.
The role will suit a passionate and creative individual who thrives on working collaboratively and who is able to manage end to end projects and supplier relationships. There will be a need to analyse data to monitor performance as well as identifying trends and opportunities. Fulfilment mapping is also a key element of the role as well as being comfortable presenting in person to colleagues and suppliers.

The Listening Place offers free, confidential, face-to-face support for people feeling suicidal, provided by highly trained volunteers using active listening skills. Over eight years, the charity has grown rapidly, with now over 800 volunteers delivering up to 150 appointments daily across three sites. TLP receives 750 new referrals every month and will provide support to 8000 people struggling with suicidal feelings this year. This growth, achieved without waiting lists, highlights how TLP balances ambition with a commitment to high-quality, person-centered support. With plans to expand to East London and strong donor and media interest, it’s an exciting time to join this effective, community-led service.
This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for giving TLP a voice across external and internal communications. Through dependable, precise and creative communications, you will help TLP meet its three key communication objectives:

The Director has oversight of the organisations effective running, ensuring it continues to meet its aims and objectives. Your role will be central to achieving our three-year strategy, which is focused on:

Based in our Advocacy and Campaigns team the Senior Policy Officer will be responsible for delivering our Social Mobility Employer Index and support the development of our wider policy positions and campaigns work.
Growing the influence and impact of the Index is a key strategic priority within ambition two, and this role will help achieve that by ensuring we continue to develop our knowledge and to influence and improve employer-led social mobility. You’ll be responsible for project managing and delivering core components of the Index including the marking, design and delivery of the survey, which we use to gather employer data and the feedback reports, which we share with entrants. You’ll ensure the documents evolve with best practice and in line with our work with young people. Working with others you’ll deliver the annual key findings report, ultimately helping improve employer led social mobility in the UK.
Alongside the Index you’ll play a key role in developing policy positions for our political influencing campaigns. You’ll support our internal knowledge hub, drawing insights from our Aspiring Professionals Programme, wider research and focus groups with our young people and share external developments to ensure we have robust, youth-led positions. You’ll analyse evidence and help carve out our unique point of view on how we can improve social mobility in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the project management and delivery of the Index including development of policy positions and best practice, questionnaire design, employer feedback reports.
- Lead the annual review of the Index assessing the impact it’s had on driving employer behaviour and update our measurement and evaluation metrics accordingly.
- Ensure documents are reviewed annually and updated to reflect the latest best practice and insights from our wider interventions.
- Co-ordinate the different individuals and teams working across the Index to deliver the annual key findings report.
- Utilising our political monitoring service and our relations with employers, stay across updates from key stakeholders such as the Social Mobility Commission, the wider sector and employer research, utilising these insights to update our policy positions and develop our advice to employers.
- Undertake rapid scans of various types of data and evidence; produce summaries of the main findings and implications for policy and generate ideas for further policy opportunities.
- Present findings internally and support fundraising colleagues with the insights, tools, and knowledge to develop new products that can influence employer behaviour.
- Create resources for the wider organisation to ensure our evidence base and policy positions are understood, up to date and consistently used across teams.
- Attend relevant conferences, stakeholder meetings and gather intelligence, raising our profile and influencing where appropriate.
- Support the Campaigns Officer (media) and Campaigns Officer (public affairs) with the insights required for political and media interventions. E.g. briefing MPs and creating briefing materials for media interviews.

Essential skills and experience
- Experience of developing policy positions for an organisation.
- Experience in translating research into insights and using that to inform positions.
- Experience of analysing and interpreting data sets to develop policy positions.
- Excellent written and oral communication and influencing skills.

We are looking for a candidate with a passion for delivering improvements to public health and cancer prevention through policy and public affairs, who has experience advising colleagues on political matter areas and the ability to maintain up to date knowledge on political issues. Experience of sourcing, scanning for, reviewing, assessing and analysing policy documents or legislation is also key.
