ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Service Manager contract to join our small team of 3. Solace is a unique mental health drop-in centre providing a welcoming and supportive community for adults experiencing loneliness, isolation, and mental health challenges. With 85 members, many diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression, Solace offers a safe space where individuals can feel included, build confidence, and make meaningful connections at their own pace. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals within our community. 

Our members’ slogan, “Together Accepting Difference”, reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Solace is more than a service – it’s a second home for many, where members can engage in activities like playing pool, using computers, or helping out in the garden meet with friends and have a coffee.  

Shift Pattern: Full Time - Monday to Fridays - Shift Patterns are 13.00 - 20.00 flexibility to work over Christmas and some bank holidays as may be required by the Service On-site Only

What are we looking for from a Deputy Service Manager?

• Confidence in using IT; we use various systems and software's so need someone who is confident in learning new IT skills and can navigate around computer systems
• Has confident leadership skills and can inspire and motivate a team. While you’ll have support from management, this role requires someone who can take ownership and lead with confidence
• Can drive the service forward and implement improvements
• Is confident in managing complex situations and making decisions

• Has experience in homelessness, substance use, or a related field, with transferable skills that align with some of the challenges that can arise in this position 

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the team: Providing high-quality guidance, advice, and leadership to frontline care and support staff.
• Day-to-day operations: Overseeing the service in collaboration with the Service Manager, ensuring the delivery of trauma-informed and recovery-focused support to residents.
• Stakeholder management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with external partners, including the community rehabilitation team within the mental health trust.
• Service promotion: Representing the service and providing outreach-based provision to engage with stakeholders.
• Health and safety: Conducting health and safety checks, internal audits, and ensuring compliance with organisational standards.
• Document preparation: Preparing documents for external meetings
• Incident management: Advising on and responding to incidents as they arise.
• Service leadership: Managing the service in the absence of the Service Manager, ensuring continuity and high standards of care.

Context and purpose of role

Ramblers walk leadership programme increases the skills and confidence of people from diverse backgrounds to lead walks, enabling more people to benefit from group walks. As a member of the Programmes team, the Programme Lead (Walk Leadership) will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of the programme across GB.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on the design, development and operational delivery of the Walk Leadership programme across GB.
• Create operational delivery plans – to identify milestones, monitor risks, resolve issues and manage resource requirements.
• Design and develop resources and processes to support programme implementation.
• Be responsible for managing a budget in line with programme goals and objectives.
• Be responsible for evaluation and reporting, to ensure the programme meets KPIs and delivers measurable impact.
• Manage new and existing strategic partnerships with partner organisations and those working to reduce barriers to becoming active outdoors.
• Develop a network of walk leader volunteers – ensuring that appropriate systems, processes and support is in place.
• Work with partners to train and support walk leaders, and to promote the programme more widely.
• Engage diverse audiences from communities facing additional barriers to getting outdoors, to senior stakeholders including funders and other strategic external partners.
• Directly deliver some Walk Leadership events to support the continued development and co-production of the programme.
• Work closely with Nations Directors, Community Development Officers and the Fundraising team to secure the support required to sustain and grow the programme.
• Ensure robust risk management systems are in place to ensure the safety of participants.
• Ensure programme compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
• Review the programme annually to identify lessons learned or areas for development to drive continuous improvement.

• Work collaboratively as a member of the Programmes team, to share learning and develop innovative practice in programme design and development.

The person

Knowledge and Experience

• Programme management experience – including responsibility for planning, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Experience recruiting and managing partners, contractors and volunteers.
• Experience designing and delivering a training programme – working with participants to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Experience of successfully working with fundraising colleagues to secure funding to sustain and scale a programme.
• Knowledge of the outdoor recreation sector and potential barriers to participation.
• Experience managing relationships with strategic stakeholders.
• Walk Leader qualification (Lowland Leader Award or higher) or experience – especially in walking, group leadership and risk management.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Community Outreach Manager to manage and expand our outreach efforts. The Community Outreach Manager will be responsible for leading a team to deliver Betknowmore UK's Community Outreach services, engaging with local communities, and supporting individuals impacted by gambling harms. 

This is a key leadership role that involves overseeing the service’s strategy, operations, and delivery, ensuring that services are accessible, effective, and meet the needs of diverse communities.

• Monitor the quality of service delivery and make improvements where necessary to meet the needs of service users.
• 3. Strategic Planning and Service Improvement:
• Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement the strategic direction for community outreach services, ensuring alignment with Betknowmore UK's wider objectives.
• Continuously evaluate service effectiveness, gathering feedback from stakeholders, service users, and team members to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead the development and implementation of outreach campaigns and partnerships to engage at-risk communities.

4. Reporting and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach activities and case management, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
• Prepare and present regular reports on service performance, including outcomes, challenges, and achievements.
• Ensure that all outreach services meet organisational standards, as well as external regulatory requirements

5. Stakeholder Engagement and Networking:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including community organizations, local authorities, and support services.
• Represent Betknowmore UK at community events, conferences, and other networking opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with other service lines within the organization to ensure a holistic approach to supporting individuals with gambling-related harm.

Key Requirements

Essential:

• Must be London based as you will be required to attend community events and in-person meetings within the Greater London area.
• Significant experience in a leadership or managerial role within a social services, community outreach, or public health setting.
• Demonstrable experience in managing outreach or support services, with a focus on community engagement and impact.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage a team, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse data and use insights to improve service delivery and outcomes.
• Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

Desirable:

• Knowledge and understanding of gambling harm, its impact on individuals and communities, and the available support systems.
• Experience of working in or with the gambling sector, or experience of working with vulnerable or at-risk populations.
• A relevant qualification in social care, public health, or community outreach.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Barnardo's Adoption Midlands and South West

2 Social Worker vacancies (could consider full time or part time working) to cover work across our region which includes East & West Midlands, South West and Thames Valley.  Work is allocated near to workers home address where possible but willingness to travel is a key feature of this position. These will be hybrid posts and the postholders will be required to travel regularly to an office locations either in Tickenham (near Clevedon) or Halesowen.  

Development of Service
This is a service that currently works in adoption and adoption support and covers the Midlands region (West and East Midlands) and the South West region (including the Thames Valley area).  

Objectives of Service - Adoption
The primary aim of the Service is to provide the highest quality of adoption placement and adoption support services.

Our objectives include:-

To recruit, assess and approve a diverse range of adoptive families to meet the needs of waiting children.

To carefully match the needs of waiting children with the skills of the prospective adopters.

To ensure all Barnardo's adopters have access to training, guidance and support when they require it.

To work directly with adoptive families in need of therapeutic support and with the Services Therapeutic Team to help build and maintain family relationships.

A commitment to listen to our children, young people, adopters and stakeholders to enable us to progress on our journey of continuous learning and improvement.

Initial Specific Responsibilities 

As a Social Worker in the team you will be involved in all aspects of the adoption process. You will work as part of a committed Team with a mixture of face to face and virtual work.

You will receive regular supervision by a manager in the Service and you will work closely with the other Social Workers, support workers, therapists, and administrators.

Social Workers are involved in the recruitment and taking initial enquiries on a duty system. Then undertaking Initial visits and AAR assessments, these comprehensive reports are then presented to Panel.

The Social Worker will work with the support worker in the Team with Family Finding, and liaise regularly with adopters who are looking for a match nationwide. The Social Worker will attend Exchange days, Profiling meeting, Activity Days and DVD meetings nationwide to discuss potential matches with Social Workers from other Regional Adoption Agencies (RAA), and support Barnardo's adopters at these events.

The Social Worker will prepare adopters for visits from RAA's regarding potential matches. If a match is identified the Social Worker will accompany the adopters to the meetings in the child's Local Authority to meet foster carers, medical advisor, schools and nurseries (this can happen anywhere in the country and may be face to face or virtual dependent on circumstances and the Local Authority involved). The Social Worker will prepare paperwork for Matching Panel and attend with adopters.

The Social Worker will support the adopters in introductions, and visit regularly until the Adoption Order is granted and beyond if required. 

The Social Worker will assist in arranging therapeutic input and applications to the Adoption Support Fund.

The Social Worker will liaise with other professionals involved with the family and work closely with the placing RAA.

The Social Worker will be involved in supporting families with post adoption support and liaising with the therapists and arranging packages of support.

The Social Worker will attend support groups for the adopters and be involved with the preparation and ongoing training of adopters. This involves some weekend working.

Supplementary Information 

This post requires a professional Social Work Qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or CSS) and Registration with Social Work England or the ability to register (or proof that they are about to gain registration).

The post holder will need to be able to work flexible hours (occasionally weekends and often evenings) and be prepared to travel when required and on occasion stay away overnight on a planned basis. There is an opportunity to take Time Offered in Lieu.

The Social Worker will need to be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post and have access to a suitable vehicle for use in work.

Social Workers will also need to participate in the “Helpline” rota Out of Hours. There is additional remuneration for providing this service.

FINANCE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Purpose

The Finance Manager will proactively plan, manage and oversee the financial strategy, operations, and compliance of our dynamic and growing organisation. The role contributes directly to the organisation’s strategic planning and has hands-on oversight of financial transactions, operations, compliance and reporting.  

As the Finance Manager, you will be a member of the Executive leadership team working closely with the CEO on matters of financial strategy and business development - contributing to strategic decisions and providing financial guidance.

Main Objectives

• Provide leadership, in-depth knowledge and financial expertise to support the organisation’s strategy, business development and operations. 
• Manage the day-to-day financial operations including payroll, payments, controls and cash flow to ensure sound financial management and accuracy around all financial routines and procedures. Also ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
• Lead on and manage financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting - working closely with the CEO.
• Lead on enhancing procedural efficiencies and streamlining in finance operations.
• Prepare statutory and management accounts. Manage the annual financial audit and implement recommendations.
• Provide and manage sound financial reporting and conduct financial analysis and financial modelling for business development.
• Manage and support the Finance Manager and Bookkeeper.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The role works closely with the CEO and is assisted by the Assistant Finance Manager and the Bookkeeper.

Financial Planning

• Lead on financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
• Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, highlighting key trends, opportunities and risks. Also scenario planning and financial modelling for growth and sustainability.
• Provide sound financial advice to the CEO, Executive and Trustees also assisting with business planning and strategy and business development.

Financial Management

• Lead on and manage the annual financial audit, including preparation, responding to auditors queries and implementation of recommendations, effectively and in a timely manner. Also filling with the Charity Commission and Companies House.
• Lead on the day-to-day management of financial operations to ensure sound financial management and accuracy of all financial routines and procedures.

The proposed service Kineara aims to provide is a Community-Based Housing Advice and Support Service for lone parents living in TA (Temporary Accommodation) and to provide a prevented service that advice and support lone parents living in PRS and social rented accommodation, where their tenancies is insecure.

This service will address urgent housing concerns, provide essential advice, and offer tailored, intensive support for those with complex needs. The project will focus on delivering maximum reach through our outreach while maintaining smaller 1:1 caseload for high-needs cases.

• To lead the Communities Come Together and new Partnerships Approach within our England portfolio development team, delivering our new portfolio in communities in England in line with ‘it starts with community’
• To provide leadership of mission, equity and ‘more than a funder’ subject matter expertise and partnerships at national level – in particular Communities Come together and our new Partnerships approach. 
• To articulate our story and impact as we deliver the new portfolio, ensuring this informs the delivery of our funding internally and amplifies our impact externally 

The successful candidate will be confident at providing clarity and direction in ambiguity and be a fluent communicator in both verbal and written communications. You’ll be an exceptional problem solver and have excellent decision-making skills and personal resilience. A key part of the role will be to develop England’s funding portfolio across our communities come together mission, equity and more than a funder priorities (especially partnerships) and to work closely with colleagues who have specific expertise from within and outside of the Fund.

Essential Criteria:

• Proven problem solving and decision-making skills, as well as a ‘can do’ attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, able to tailor messages to audiences and can demonstrate a good understanding of external  positioning
• Experience of strategy development and implementation, including options appraisal and working through the decision making and approvals process
• Strong interpersonal skills, and resilience, with an ability to build relationships and work with a range of people inside and outside of the Fund
• Strong analytical skills, able to review a range of complex evidence and information and shape robust conclusions
• Experience of building high performing teams and leading change, as a leader and/or as a team player - creating the culture and structures in which people can thrive at work
• Good organisational skills, able to manage complex workload with competing priorities
• Expertise in supporting communities to come together and cross sector partnerships

Desirable criteria:

• A passion for, experience in and an understanding of the VSCE sector and the communities we serve.
• Policy expertise in one or more of our ‘more than a funder’ priorities: partnerships; participation, convening, influencing, supporting grant holders, learning.

Heart Research UK is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to stopping people dying from heart diseases. The Health Promotion & Education team enhance the heart health of the UK population through innovative health improvement programs.

The Healthy Heart Coach will deliver health checks, provide tailored heart health lifestyle advice, and conduct heart health coaching sessions within community, workplace and event settings. The coach will also be responsible for ensuring accurate data capture, maintaining and replenishing stock for events, assisting in the development of engaging health promotion resources and future delivery of health education workshops and exercise sessions.

This role is hybrid to our Leeds office but is primarily remote with travel across the UK to health check locations. We require the participant to be able to commute to the Leeds office to ensure stock replenishment and collection of the health check stock for events. This role requires travel across the UK, including overnight stays (2 per month average).
