About the Role
We are now recruiting for an experienced Director of Operations to play a crucial role in guiding our driven and committed team as we shift our culture and infrastructure, upholding our vision, mission, principles, and values.
The post holder will work with colleagues to develop, implement and review Hibiscus’s strategy and plans, particularly as they impact our operating and finance models. They will be responsible for developing and monitoring the annual business plan, reporting progress and providing reliable structural, financial and people management. They will support the CEO in building and instilling a sense of unity and purpose into the work of the organisation, and represent the operational work to the Board. They will be responsible for the efficient running of operations and central functions, conducting risk assessments, monitoring performance and reviewing procedures, with a particular focus on overseeing the effective financial management of the organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning and producing financial budgets for the organisation, alongside monitoring projects from start to finish, preparing costings for funding applications, agreeing contracts and grant terms, monitoring deliverables and co-ordinating timely reporting. They will oversee the production of quarterly management accounts and yearly finance audits, and communicate the financial landscape of the organisation to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board. The Director of Operations will play a key role in risk and compliance, with a focus on data, safeguarding, policies and procedures, and legal and statutory requirements. They will work to increase the effectiveness of our operations, whilst supporting and contributing to the fundraising efforts of the organisation. A key element of the role will be to work to integrate our workplace culture into HR processes and procedures, modelling a fair and open management approach that ensures trusted relationships are embedded throughout the organisation.

About you

The successful candidate will have significant experience of strategic financial planning and managing organisational finances. Role description:
We are seeking a highly motivated self-driven, and energetic individual to join our Fundraising Team as the Corporate Fundraising Officer. You will lead on fostering excellent working relationships with potential and existing corporate partners. You will need to work closely with the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to shape the plans required for the future.

Main Responsibilities:

Person Specification:

In this varied role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager and admin team to ensure the smooth running of our Centre by managing administrative tasks, assisting with IT and communications, and supporting operations and fundraising initiatives. Mental Health: All of the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. As the Senior MEL Officer in the MEL team, you will support the Head of Impact & Learning and the MEL Manager, as well as the Programmes & Impact department and wider team, to measure and analyse the quality and impact of our programming. You will also work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that our impact and expertise in working with women entrepreneurs is measured and communicated accurately and effectively to our Board of Trustees and external stakeholders.
Department purpose
This role sits within the Programmes & Impact department, which is responsible for the development and delivery of our programmes and services, ensuring they are delivered to a high quality, remain responsive to women entrepreneurs’ needs and have demonstrable impact. The department is divided into three teams: Entrepreneurship, which is responsible for delivery of services such as HerVenture and the four ‘Road to’ programmes, Mentoring, which is responsible for development and delivery of the Mentoring Women in Business programme, and MEL, which is responsible for quality impact measurement, analysis and research.
Key responsibilities
Main obligations
- Support the development and implementation of MEL systems and tools across Mentoring and Entrepreneurship projects, providing the Foundation with the necessary information to understand our impact and inform programme improvements.
- Support in collection and analysis of organisational KPIs and provide overall operational support for the MEL team.
Specific responsibilities
- Programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Ensure up-to-date programme monitoring and evaluation materials (surveys, data collection tools and theoretical frameworks) are in place for existing programmes as well as those that are in development.
- In collaboration with colleagues in the Mentoring and Entrepreneurship teams, execute the annual calendar of programme and partner surveys, including uploading and testing the surveys.
- Develop analysis plans aligned to key research questions, programme goals and logical frameworks.
- Collect, clean and analyse quantitative and qualitative programme data aligned to programme goals, logical frameworks, organisational KPIs, and general summaries of findings.
- Collaborate with colleagues on the Mentoring and Entrepreneurship teams to support dissemination of programme findings and cross-site trends internally and externally.
Research and Evaluation
- Provide administrative, logistical and analytical support for programme evaluation and in-country data collection.
- Conduct desk research to support programme implementation and/or provide background and context for research and evaluation findings.
- Collect, clean and analyse data for Foundation-led or commissioned research and evaluations.

Person specification

The Charity has consistently punched above its weight, achieving an impact beyond its size. Since 2000, we have invested over £45m in vital research activities in the region’s top hospitals and universities, constantly pushing the boundaries forward in the fight against cancer. We have also launched influential, region-wide initiatives, including award-winning public health campaigns, a leading-edge annual Regional Report on cancer and creating the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region’s schools as well as launching a retail chain.
