About Praxis
Praxis is an award-winning human rights charity fighting for migrant rights since 1983. We give advice, provide support, and campaign so that migrants and refugees in the UK can live with safety, dignity and respect. Our direct services support people in London, and our training and campaign work has national impact. Our core purpose is to help migrants in crisis or at risk, ensuring they can live in safety, overcome the barriers they face, and take control of their own future. Purpose of the role
As our 2020-25 strategy draws to a close, we are seeking a dynamic and insightful consultant(s) to provide expert strategy support and facilitation that will result in the development of Praxis’ next Strategic Plan 2026-31. The consultant(s) will play a key role in helping us clarify our mission, set actionable goals, and develop a comprehensive strategy that aligns with our vision for the future.This process will help us focus our efforts and resources on securing the most impactful change for migrants and refugees at risk of destitution and homelessness. Undertaking this process now will help us ensure that our organisation is in a strong position to respond to future challenges including increasing hostility towards migrant communities, deepening economic inequality and the ongoing housing crisis.
Objectives of the consultancy
· Review our current vision, mission and values
· Identify the key strengths of our current approach and our impact areas.
· Explore areas for organisational development.
· Make recommendations for our strategic priorities for the next 5 years.
· Support the CEO and Board of Directors to draft a new Strategic Plan and updated Theory of Change that will guide our work from 2026-2031.
Relationships
The process will be led by the CEO in close collaboration with the Chair of the Board of Directors.
Person Specification
The CEO is looking for a thought partner who has the following:
- Demonstrable success in facilitating strategic planning processes, particularly for charities.
· Proven strategic and analytic skills, including the ability to identify and challenge on critical questions, choices, and pay-offs.
- Skilled at designing and leading workshops, managing group dynamics, and fostering consensus.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of the process and organisation.
· A general understanding of the immigration sector and the needs of people at the sharp end of immigration policy.

About us
The Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London (RAMFEL) is one of the largest immigration and asylum advice charities in the UK, supporting refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants to access justice. An IAA level 3 accredited organisation, we represent clients at all stages of the immigration and asylum process, up to and including the Upper Tribunal of the Immigration and Asylum Chamber. We also support clients to access destitution support, housing and relevant services they are entitled to.
We also actively campaign for a fairer and more humane immigration system. RAMFEL caseworkers therefore have the opportunity to work on systemic and strategic challenges and support broader advocacy work.
We particularly welcome and encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals, and those who are migrants or refugees, and who have lived experience of the impact of UK immigration policy and/or of rough sleeping. This includes individuals with direct experience or experience gained through supporting family members with the challenges posed by immigration and asylum practices- those who have been or could have been clients of RAMFEL.
Purpose of the role
The Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London is an IAA level 3 registered charity, that provides advice to help people access justice. Having received additional funding, the role gives an opportunity to assist some of the most vulnerable people in our society. There will be particular focus on working with people who are facing a crisis, providing advice work and support that will take them out of destitution and on a path towards independence.
The RAS caseworker will be assisting Asylum Seekers and Refugees with accessing services and support they are entitled to, such as housing, benefits, asylum support, medical and education services etc.
Hours of work: The role is primarily a full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week. However, for the right candidate, we may consider accommodating part-time working hours. Given the nature of RAMFEL’s work, there may be instances where the Supervisor will need to exceed the standard hours. In such cases, compensatory time off can be arranged with the Head of Services
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: £28,000 - 30,000 per annum, depending on experience. 28 days annual leave plus statutory holidays and 6% pension contribution.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small but ambitious grassroots charity run by and for women seeking asylum. WAST has a proud track record of providing a safe space for women to come together in solidarity and campaign for justice in an increasingly hostile environment.
We are looking for the right person to work alongside WAST’s management group of women seeking asylum to successfully take forward WAST’s development priorities – supporting women through the asylum system, campaigning on the issues affecting them and supporting wellbeing through a trauma informed approach. You will need to have relevant experience in charity or public sector management and fundraising, with a positive participatory leadership style. WAST has recently restructured and expanded its staffing team. As Manager, you will be assisted by two part-time coordinators: the Engagement and Programme Coordinator (an established member of staff) and a new Coordinator role, which you will be expected to help define and recruit.

Background Information
WAST is run by and for women seeking asylum and currently has around 170 members. It was started in 2005 by WAST’s current Chair whilst fighting her own anti-deportation campaign and became a constituted charity in 2014. Its purpose remains to provide a safe space for women coming together in solidarity to offer support, share information and help each other to survive and to get their leave to remain in the UK. Women are at the sharp end of the ‘hostile environment’ with punitive government immigration policies and practice. WAST enables a process of empowerment through which women gain the confidence and strength to voice their experience and campaign for justice.
WAST is a place of hope and belonging with its core values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment and its continuous development of its trauma informed peer support approach.
WAST is proud of its pioneering work giving a voice to women seeking asylum and inspiring other women around the country to set up similar groups. WAST has been at the forefront of national campaigning against detention, has published three books and created two plays, giving voice to women’s experiences.
Activities are led by the WAST Management Group elected by the membership and supported by WAST staff, currently a part-time Engagement and Programme Coordinator (and we will soon be recruiting for a second part-time coordinator role).

The post is based at the WAST office in central Manchester with some opportunity for remote working. The post is for 28 hours a week.

About the Organisation:
Mary Seacole Housing Association is a highly regarded Supported Accommodation and Community Services provider committed to addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable non-UK nationals. Our mission is to deliver immigration support, accommodation, and outreach services to individuals who face complex challenges. We aim to foster inclusive communities and provide high-quality services to our clients. You will be joining a dedicated team working on a high-impact project that focuses on helping non-UK nationals who are currently experiencing homelessness.
Role Purpose:
The Support Worker (Rough Sleeping Outreach) will play a crucial role in supporting individuals sleeping rough, with a particular focus on migrants from non-EU countries. The role involves offering assessments, placing individuals into suitable accommodation, and supporting them through resettlement, including engagement with Immigration Advisors and helping them transition to sustainable housing and employment or facilitating reconnection with their Local Authority area, country of origin, or family/friends who can offer housing or work.
This service aims to minimise new, long-term, and repeat rough sleeping by providing access to specialist health care and other vital services, ensuring that every individual receives the tailored support they need to avoid returning to homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Assessments: Carry out comprehensive assessments for people sleeping rough, identifying their individual needs with a trauma-informed approach and ensuring that any barriers to accessing services are removed.
Place Individuals in Accommodation: Work collaboratively with housing providers to secure appropriate accommodation, ensuring swift placements that meet the individual’s specific circumstances, including emergency accommodation when necessary.
Support Migrants: Ensure that migrants from non-EU backgrounds have access to opportunities to move into sustainable housing, employment, or reconnect with their country of origin, family, or friends who can provide support. Assist in their journey to settle into long-term accommodation and employment options, where applicable.
Engage with Immigration Advisors: Facilitate engagement with Immigration Advisors (IA) to ensure that individuals are supported with any legal or eligibility issues relating to their immigration status.
Provide Resettlement Support: Offer continued support to individuals after their placement in accommodation, focusing on resettling them effectively within four months. This includes access to employment or further assistance from relevant service providers.
Collaborate with Multi-Agency Partners: Work closely with key partners, including health services, housing teams, and local charities, to provide a holistic, multi-agency response to rough sleeping and ensure the best possible outcomes for service users.
Respond to Outreach Reports: Act promptly on reports of rough sleeping from the public, partner agencies, or tools like Streetlink, ensuring effective and timely intervention.
Build Trusting Relationships: Develop strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable individuals to help them access and engage with available services. Continuously offer support to help them transition into secure housing and avoid a return to rough sleeping.
Driving and Flexibility: The role involves travel across the borough to different locations, so a full, clean driving license is essential. The successful candidate must be flexible in their working hours, as outreach may occur during early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Experience:
Significant experience working with migrants or individuals facing multiple disadvantages (e.g., homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse).
Knowledge and experience of trauma-informed care and supporting individuals in crisis situations.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on building trust with vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of service users.
- Competence in conducting needs assessments, developing support plans, and assisting with resettlement efforts.
Languages / Other:
- Additional language skills are essential, particularly North African dialects, Arabic, or Hindi, to effectively communicate with migrant communities in Luton.
- Driving License: A full, clean driving license is essential, and the ability to travel across the borough to meet with service users in different locations.
- Flexibility and working hours: Outreach workers follow a varied rota, including 9 AM–5 PM shifts and early mornings like 6 AM–2 PM and 5 AM–12 PM. This ensures flexible support and outreach at key times to meet community needs effectively.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working in an outreach or housing support role.
- Familiarity with local housing services, immigration advice, and homelessness support in Luton.
- Ability to work in a multi-agency setting and to coordinate effectively with partners.
Other Requirements:
- Commitment to Luton Borough Council’s mission to end rough sleeping by 2027.

About the role:
The Legal Officer works closely with the Legal Team (Legal Director and Legal and Parliamentary Officer) to support our policy and advocacy work and with the Senior Legal Projects Manager in a key role to coordinate strategic legal advice and litigation. The Legal Officer also works closely with the rest of the ILPA Secretariat, including the Chief Executive, Content and Digital Channels Manager, Training Officer, and with Trustees, ILPA and SLAC members, the SLAC Steering Committee and co-convenors of ILPA’s Working Groups.
You will regularly analyse information, including legal and practice updates, and disseminate information orally and in writing to the public and to ILPA members. You will assist with answering ILPA members’ legal, policy and practice-based queries, raising systemic issues with government departments as appropriate, and provide flexible, tailored, technical and practical support for practitioners and non-practitioners, who include public bodies, professional organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). You will assist in the preparation of legal policy and parliamentary briefings, and ILPA’s responses to consultations, calls for evidence, other official submissions and correspondence with government bodies. You will also help represent ILPA in meetings and work collaboratively with colleagues across the sector in pursuit of ILPA’s influencing aims.
Additionally, you will support the organisation and running of ILPA’s thematic Working Groups, which provide a valuable forum for ILPA members to share best practice and discuss issues of current importance, assisting with agenda-setting, presenting updates, following-up on action points, and preparing meeting summaries. The overall aim of these activities is to improve immigration, asylum and nationality law, policy and practice. You are not expected to have policy experience, as you will gain knowledge and exposure to policy work through this role and we hope to see you grow in the role and take on greater policy responsibility during your time at ILPA, accompanied by corresponding salary increments where deemed appropriate as part of our salary review process.
You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to develop partnerships with NGOs and legal professionals around the UK. You will coordinate the general and regional Strategic Legal Advice Committee (SLAC) meetings. These meetings will be held online, across the UK. Each SLAC group will hold four meetings per year as well as emergency meetings where necessary. You will be responsible for the minute taking of all SLAC meetings. You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to set member-led meeting agendas, identify member training needs, facilitate training, update the SLAC website, and feed in to monitoring and evaluation of the project. You will be responsible for coordinating SLAC Steering Committee meetings.
About you:
The position would suit a self-motivated individual who is passionate about the sector and is looking to further their career in immigration policy or advocacy, including by making the transition from immigration practice to work on immigration policy and strategic legal advice and litigation coordination.
You may be keen to be working at the heart of the systemic changes following Brexit, recent significant legislation, including the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, Illegal Migration Act 2023, Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024, attempts to remove people seeking asylum in the UK to Rwanda, government initiatives to “reduce net migration” such as the increased Minimum Income Requirement for family visas, and the recently introduced Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.
You will have an interest in strategic litigation and how it can be used to protect and promote the rights of those discriminated against on the basis of their migration status. You will be passionate about being involved in the coordination of a unique and exciting project that brings the third and legal sector together in developing strategic litigation.
Given the complexity of immigration, asylum and nationality law, we do not expect applicants to have expertise in every area, but an understanding of the law and excellent critical analysis skills are key. Any successful applicant will be able to attend ILPA training to further their knowledge.
Main responsibilities
- To liaise, work with, and gather evidence from members to support ILPA’s influencing work and to assist with knowledge-sharing in the sector;
- To assist the Legal Team to influence law and policies through written and oral advocacy;
- To coordinate and contribute to internal and external meetings, which may have a range of attendees including ILPA members, SLAC members, government officials, parliamentarians, experts, lawyers, and other external organisations and individuals;
- To provide support to ILPA’s thematic working groups, and SLAC meetings, including by attending evening meetings, agenda-setting, participating, drafting minutes/meeting summaries, and working with the Secretariat, working group co-convenors, and SLAC Steering Committee to take forward agreed actions;
- To handle queries related to the Legal Team, and SLAC work sent by members and others where appropriate, such as by forwarding these on to relevant individuals and drafting responses;
- To monitor, identify, store, organise, interrogate, retrieve and disseminate information, including legal and policy developments, relevant to ILPA’s work;
- To assist with facilitating SLAC training events, communicating with SLAC members and feed into the monitoring and evaluation of SLAC; and
- To support internal and external communications and updates.
Person Specification
Essential knowledge, experience, skills, and qualities:
- A law degree, postgraduate qualification in law, or other relevant qualification in law;
- Experience of working in or with immigration, asylum and nationality law in the UK;
- Experience of building and managing effective professional relationships with a range of people, with demonstrable ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations;
- Good legal knowledge, skills and judgment, including:
a) an ability to navigate and understand the Immigration Rules and Government guidance,
b) a general understanding of UKVI processes, and
c) an ability to clearly communicate legal and technical information orally and in writing; - Excellent attention to detail;
- Excellent planning, coordination, organisational, time management, strategic problem-solving and independent working skills, including:

About the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association
The Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) is a charity and a professional association the majority of whose members are barristers, solicitors, advocates and IAA (previously OISC) regulated advisers practising in all aspects of immigration, asylum and nationality law. Academics, non-governmental organisations and individuals with a substantial interest in the law are also members.
Founded in 1984 by leading practitioners in the field, ILPA exists to promote and improve advice and representation in immigration, asylum and nationality law, through an extensive programme of training and disseminating information and by providing research and opinion that draw on the experiences of members. ILPA is represented on numerous government, official and non-governmental advisory groups and regularly provides evidence to parliamentary and official inquiries.
The Secretariat does not give advice to members of the public on individual cases but works closely with members to ensure that they are enabled to do their best for their clients. It runs ILPA’s busy training programme and produces a wide range of information for members and non-members.
The objectives of ILPA are:
- To promote the advising and representation of immigrants;
- To provide information to members and others on domestic and European immigration, asylum and nationality law; and
- To secure a non-racist, non-sexist, just and equitable system of immigration, asylum and nationality law practice.

Rainbow Migration, the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, is recruiting a Legal Officer to advise and help improve the representation of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and help change the asylum and immigration system to one that treats everyone with compassion, dignity and respect.
We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister with valid practising certificate, or already accredited to Level 3 IAA (OISC), with two years’ experience in providing advice and representation in asylum including working in legal aid.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the legal advice service. Under the guidance of our Legal Service Manager, you will also build capacity amongst legal representatives by designing and delivering training, giving second tier advice and developing and coordinating a network of practitioners working in this area. You will use the knowledge you gain in this role to help deliver Rainbow Migration’s policy work, such as inputting into policy papers and meeting with partner organisations when required.

Medaille Trust is one of the leading providers of support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. We are working to provide refuge and freedom for survivors and fighting to see slavery in all its forms become a thing of the past. The need for this work has never been higher, there are more than 50 million estimated victims of modern slavery worldwide, and over 120,000 potential victims in the UK.
We operate ten safe houses and five outreach hubs, staffed round the clock by specialist staff, working with more than 600 men, women and dependent children each year. We work to raise awareness in the UK and to provide preventive work in source countries. Our Pursue work helps survivors to engage with police and within the legal system to seek justice and to secure convictions against their perpetrators.
This role is based in a safe house in the Manchester area working with male service users.
About the job
We are seeking three confident and experienced Modern Slavery Case Worker Assistants with a wide range of skills and importantly, a ‘can do’ approach.
As a Modern Slavery Case Worker Assistant, you will work as a member of a close and supportive team providing a safe environment for vulnerable adults from outside the UK who have experienced trauma and exploitation. You will provide high quality practical and emotional support to the residents within a risk assessed safe house setting. The role will involve assisting clients with increasing practical skills and self-confidence to empower and enable independent and safe living.
This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Applicants must be willing to work flexibly, which will include on-call duties. This role will work between two properties approximately 4 miles apart on a rota basis so you must be able to travel to both properties.
You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults, the ability to work within a ‘risk associated’ environment and, ideally, experience of working within a residential or community setting with non-UK citizens.
Administration / IT skills and health and safety awareness are essential. Modern Day Slavery, Immigration and knowledge of the asylum process would be desirable.
