ASH Co-op is a thriving tenant-managed housing co-op in Cambridge. We have two part-time staff and are looking for a focused, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic person to take the role on to cover for maternity leave to start from late September. 

This is a varied front-line role involving collecting rent and taking enquiries, including maintenance requests and applications for membership. It also involves monitoring budgets, some basic accounting and general office administration. You must be IT literate with a good working knowledge of excel and will ideally have previous experience of housing work, or a similar office environment.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To be responsible, with our other housing co-ordinator/s, for the day-to-day running of ASH Co-op in co-operation with the membership; deal with outside bodies on behalf of the co-op; keep computer records; maintain and develop office and financial systems; and provide administrative support for working groups.

REPORTING TO 
The Employment Co-ordinators, who are elected by the members on to ASH Co-op’s committee.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All tasks are to be carried out with the relevant Co-ordinators and Working Groups where appropriate.  As a volunteer led organisation, the Housing Co-ordinators will be expected to liaise with working group co-ordinators from time to time to agree how tasks will split between them.  A key responsibility of the Housing Co-ordinators is to provide continuity where volunteers are unable to do so.

The successful applicant will be able to work Tuesdays and spread remaining hours across other weekdays between 8am-7pm when needed. The core office opening hours are 9.30am- 5pm. This role is being offered on a 13 month fixed contract.

This is a new and exciting role in Refuge, the post holder will be embedded within district borough housing teams to facilitate dual working that will ensure that survivors’ safety and housing needs are met. The housing advocate will be collocated within the council offices of their designated area to help facilitate:

• Close working relationships with Housing colleagues
• Provision of specialist knowledge relating to DA for Housing Officers and Homelessness Teams to draw on
• Specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis
• Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
• Joint working with the IDVA or Domestic Abuse Outreach services to ensure all the survivors’ needs are met.

This recognizes that many survivors will approach Housing at moments of crisis, when they are either considering fleeing, or have already fled.

The housing advocate will carry a caseload of survivors that require additional support. They will work closely with survivors of domestic abuse from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy around housing needs.They will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and individual safety support. They will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.

Co-located housing advocacy is another form of community-based specialist domestic abuse advocacy support that focuses on victim/survivors’ self-identified needs, rather than needs defined by the service and any pre-defined actions the agency thinks victim/survivors should take. The work is undertaken with the victim/survivor around their individual needs and for a period dictated by need, not targets.

You will represent Nacro in this service area and work with the area manager to grow and develop the service.

Key Responsibilities.

• Lead, manage, develop, and motivate staff, including undertaking support and supervision and performance appraisals, to ensure their ability to perform roles and that they engage in their own personal development.
•  Plan and direct the activities of the team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality support and housing management service, which meets the contractual and organisational objectives, targets, standards, and outcomes.
• Oversee accommodation offers and placements.  Ensuring that people accepted meet the service criteria and are issued with the correct tenure.
• Ensure that initial and on-going assessments of service users take place and support plans are devised and implemented to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
• Ensure all activities and engagement with service users are recorded, risk assessed, and appropriate action taken including arrangements for personal safety in line with Nacro guidelines.
• Safeguard all women in the service. Complete/oversee the completion of DASH RISK assessments and escalate cases to public safety/ safeguarding arrangements such as MAPPA, MARAC, and MASH

Experience Required.

·Managing people, and intensive housing management and support services.

·Working with women with multiple and complex needs and women who have experienced domestic.

·        Understanding of the current operating environment within the housing sector.

·        Understanding of compliance and quality frameworks for housing related support and intensive housing management services.

·Knowledge and understanding of effective risk management and accommodation planning processes for people with a range of needs.

Travel is essential and the role forms part of the NW area on call out of hour’s service. The post holder will be required to work on an on-call rota covering one week in 7 of average.

As a Tenancy Management Officer you will be expected to ensure that a comprehensive, sensitive and efficient housing management service is delivered to our tenants. You will have the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external partners, experience of providing a supported housing service to vulnerable tenants and a commitment to sustaining tenancies wherever possible.

You will also be able to effectively manage tenancy breaches including Anti-Social Behaviour, assess the suitability of new referrals, carry out property inspections and manage the voids process, monitor rent accounts and work with Income Management Team to ensure that rent arrears are kept to a minimum.  The successful candidates will also have excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service. 

This role is available as a full time post of 38 hours per week.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for delivering high quality housing advice, advocacy and casework to clients in community settings and remotely in line with local pressing issues, and managing others in this. You will develop relationships within the sector to gather evidence and insights into the impact of the housing emergency, and using those insights to drive systems change. You will lead on the development and delivery of a programme of capacity building, ensuring other organisations have the skills to act on housing rights. Influencing a range of stakeholders and decision makers across the housing sector will be important too.

You will act as a leader within the project and the wider Communities Team to help deliver and evidence our strategy at an operational level. We will count on you to line manage, supervise, coach and mentor a housing rights worker.

To succeed, you’ll need to have experience of working with, and influencing, a range of internal and external stakeholders and enjoy collaborating with people from other teams and organisations. You’ll also need great time management skills, an enthusiasm for delivering workshops and presentations and a willingness to challenge practice and hold people to account. As a Housing Domestic Abuse Advocate, you will provide intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse. Working within a fast-paced team, you will help empower women and ensure that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. You will have your own caseload of survivors who hold social tenancies with local authorities or housing associations, and you will encourage them to engage with our service and ensure they have access to support. You will also co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support which focuses on working with domestic abuse survivors to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.

About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job. You will have a good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities. You will have proven skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning. We will expect that you have experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have and an understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children. Lastly you will bring your knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation.

With many skills and qualities to add to this role, if you have good IT literacy, data collection and monitoring these skills are maximised in your role. If you have experience or have been trained or are qualified in the fields related  to substance misuse, criminal jusice, law, social work or domestic abuse we would love to hear from you.

Job Title: Chef (Part-Time)

Available Shift Pattern: 2 days per week (weekdays, weekends & bank holidays on a rolling rota basis, with the opportunity for additional shifts to cover sickness, staff holidays and rota changes)

Homeless Action is a large registered charity (No. 1063208) that offers accommodation with support to vulnerable single homeless people.  We are looking to appoint a part-time Chef to work flexibly across our hostel sites and at our Community & Hub: The Cafe@264 all based in central Blackpool. The job roles involves preparing, serving and cooking healthy, homemade nutritious meals; helping plan seasonal menus; the ability to work in a busy café and to manage volunteers and assisting in the delivery of some basic life skills training to our hostel residents.

Ideally you will have catering experience and may have worked in a supported housing setting; care home/hostel or hotel/Cafe.  You will have a good understanding of the support needs of homeless people, be non-judgemental in your approach and have good people skills.  You will be willing to go the extra mile and be self-motivated.  You will be able to work during the week, at weekends and bank holidays.  You will be flexible in your approach to work and able to cover shifts at short notice.

With a proven track record of senior leadership in the housing sector, you will be able to evidence a strong passion for service development.  Working with an established and effective board you will steer our strategic direction, encouraging a positive culture and upholding our values.

You will be an empowering, compassionate, and collaborative strategic leader.  With senior leadership experience gained within housing or a similarly complex and community-focused sector, with specific understanding of the operational aspects of the business.  You’ll bring high levels of personal and professional credibility and a successful track record in managing change and nurturing the strong culture we have established.

About You

To fulfil this role, we are looking for an exceptional leader with a CIH Level 5 Diploma in Housing / an appropriate professional qualification.

You will have a diligent, proactive approach, forward-thinking and keen to develop opportunities for our services to make a positive impact to the communities we serve.  You’ll demonstrate commercial acumen and business planning skills with the ability to think strategically and make critical decisions.

With a desire for building and maintaining strong relationships, you’ll naturally have a growth mindset and resilience, with a pragmatic and collaborative approach to challenges.  You’ll achieve best practice with an informed commitment to equal opportunities and encouraging diversity.  This includes a proven track record of managing and developing a cohesive staff team and the provision of high quality customer focused services.  You’ll have experience of developing effective working relationships at a senior level with local authorities, banks, statutory bodies and other not-for-profit providers, while promoting the work we do. 

What We Offer

Actual salary is £38,400 – 44,800 p.a. (pro rata) based on a 4-day week (28 hrs p.w.)

This role is based at our head office in Solihull, plus Agile / Homeworking. The role requires operational travel within the Solihull borough; therefore, the successful candidate will need a full driving licence.
