The Benefits Service within SEL Mind is a well-established offer of support to clients who need to access welfare benefits they are entitled to receive.
The service currently provides casework support for people who need to challenge benefits decisions across the three boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich. There is also a cross-area team of volunteers who assist with form filling and all aspects of the assessment process. During 2024, we have consolidated management of the benefits service to provide a robust and accountable level of support. This role will take responsibility for the team and have a leading role in developing the service for the future.
We are looking for a Benefits Service Manager with significant experience of working within welfare benefits. You will have a good understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems and the links with welfare issues. Applicants should have previous experience of thinking strategically to develop a service and ideally of managing a team to deliver the support. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative is essential for this role.

About the role:
We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled project manager (with sales and engagement experience for the FT role) who will help create, execute and evaluate multi project plans and engagement strategies whilst continuously assessing impact and ROI. You will be a driven project manager with a business mind that has a passion for excellence and delivering high quality outputs that show impact. From planning with the Training Manager to developing and delivering project plans with the Head of Training, Training team, SMT and external partners, you will thrive on the smooth running of our training operations. You will be someone who loves to exceed targets and sales with outreach activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· To project manage all our training and services with effective and clear planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting
· Manage contract development, communications, budget planning, timelines and reporting to clients and SMT
· Identify, nurture, and grow client relationships
· Negotiate and influence showing diplomacy, whilst maintaining a firm stance that projects are delivered within our resources and in time
· Work successfully in partnership with a range of internal and external staff and other stakeholders
· Report on progress of each project ensuring filling all training courses places, including doing engagement activity to fill places against set targets and KPIs.
· Work with the Head of Finance to ensure we set realistic targets, budgets and ensure we analyse income performance
· Work closely with the Training Manager and Head of Training, SMT and wider training team to implement the training strategy and action plans to drive forward and grow our training
· Develop action plans with Head of Marketing and Communications for each course and then implement these operationally to drive engagement, increase visibility, sales and income to improve our course sales
· Working with the Training Manager to ensure quality assurance across our courses including proofreading documents and overseeing our training Powerpoints
· To analyse training evaluation data to identify any risks (such as courses not being filled)
· Make recommendations for efficiencies and improve the client experience from initial contact to feedback
· To have oversight of and refinement of our systems and processes such as Salesforce and communications
· Ensure that all training activities adhere to relevant health and safety regulations, safeguarding, suicide prevention and ethical guidelines
· Do any duties to support the Training Manager.
To be successful and thrive in this role, you must be confident, flexible, have pride in your attention to detail, be extremely organised, meet deadlines and be driven to exceed targets. You will need to be a clear and concise communicator as you will be reporting and collaborating with a wide range of audiences. For this role, you will need:
· Evidence of leading and implementation of successful project plans to deadlines and within budgets

Person Specification
Essential
- You must be able to follow the Shout model for support and be comfortable holding a minimum of four conversations simultaneously as directed by your Supervisor.
- You should be calm, compassionate, communicative, confident and interested in developing skills in the field of digital mental health.
- You must hold a qualification at Level 4 or above in counselling, psychology, psychotherapy, nursing or social work, and have suitable experience of working on the front line of mental health.
- You must hold, or commit to studying towards, a Level 3 safeguarding qualification, and have completed the Shout Safeguarding Texters training.
- You must be able to commit to taking shifts at times stipulated by our rota between three and five times per week on average, and be able to respond to occasional calls to help out if we are experiencing a substantial spike in demand at other times.
- You must be able to attend a group reflective session with our practice lead once a month, which will be held remotely.
Contracts of either 3, 4 or 5 shifts (shift=3hrs) per week - Minimum of 4 conversations at any one time

This specific role involves providing holistic support to patients suffering from a serious mental illness or SMI (Serious Mental Illness). Patients will have a single or range of diagnosed conditions, will be known to ELFT and will therefore have a range of needs, including symptoms of anxiety or depression, or have a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Specifically, the Community Connector will work with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) who sit within primary care networks or PCNs (Primary Care Networks) (clusters of GP practices) across Newham and will support patients in accessing appropriate local services, embodying a true example of wrap-around support.
Community Connectors will work with ELFT (East London Foundation Trust ) under what is called the Mental Health Transformation Programme. The ethos of the programme is recovery-focused, exploring needs through complexity (rather than diagnosis), a focus on a person’s strengths and assets, and on the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.
The Community Connector will be a strong networker who is able to engage multiple stakeholders for the betterment of patient welfare and outcomes.

The Criminal Justice Services Directorate is an incredibly important part of our organisation, delivering services in the community and in secure settings including Prisons, with a range of individuals and groups that have all been impacted by sexual harms (including sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation, or boys and men) alongside the impact on their families and friends.
Over the past 15+ years we have grown as an organisation, both physically and metaphorically, and we’re now supporting approximately 2,500 male survivors every single year across all our services in the Community Services Directorate and the Criminal Justice Services Directorate. The current state of the criminal justice system, the difficulties in the mental health system, the cost of living and other societal pressures will make the next few years both challenging and fascinating and you could get to help shape our local and regional response, along with influencing the national discussion on tackling sexual and domestic abuse, gender-based violence, and the ever-growing prison population.

Our Dawlish and Sidmouth CQC services provide housing-related support for people with high support needs. The purpose of the service is to enable people placed out of area to return to Devon. The services aim to support people in gaining the skills they need to live independently.

Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius is looking for a Drug and Alcohol Practitioner to join their Bedfordshire Young People’s Team. Aquarius helps young people aged 5-18 overcome the harm caused by drugs and alcohol by working closely with the individual, family members and other professionals . But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Your challenge? – To provide information and advice, brief interventions and long term structured interventions to support young people who are using drugs and alcohol or being impacted by someone else’s use. You will be conducting assessments, risk assessments, care-planning and working directly with other services such as schools, social care, mental health services and youth offending.The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work with other agencies both face to face, email and via telephone.
An energetic and confident self-starter, you will be required to hold a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field . As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you will be used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality, excellent record keeping and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
As this role requires travelling around Bedford, you will also need to have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

Roles and responsibilities
Partnerships & Income Generation
- Support the development and lead the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising and communications strategy in line with the organisation's new Strategic Business Plan.
- Seek new relationships with potential funders and stakeholders and maintain quality engagement aiming to increase funding and support, to help sustain the charity and its growth plans.
- Seek out small and large opportunities to add additional value to the work of the organisation through philanthropic and CSR engagement.
- Prepare compelling fundraising campaigns and develop supporting materials.
- Support in the creation of funding applications.
- Collaborate with the CEO and colleagues to develop a pipeline of prospective funders and social investors aligned with NH&S mission and goals.
- Support the CEO and other heads of service/lead roles in preparing progress reports and updates for funders and stakeholders.
Communications
- Develop and implement an external stakeholder engagement strategy,
- Lead the organisation’s public relations and branding efforts, overseeing and contributing to the day-to-day communications including social media.
- Act as an ambassador for NH&S, speaking at external events and representing the organisation at conferences, events, and sector forums
- Lead on the delivery of NH&S 40th Anniversary Plans and other ongoing opportunities to profile the charity.
- Prepare reports and updates for trustees as required.
- Prepare internal communications to ensure all staff are aware of important information and events
