The role
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, as Chief Executive you will oversee the Trust’s operations, champion its mission and ensure its influence and impact. You will provide inspirational leadership and provide clear direction, engaging members, supporters, staff, stakeholders and volunteers for the effective delivery of the Trust's charitable objectives whilst ensuring that all Trust activities are legally compliant and executed to the highest standard.
As Chief Executive, you will develop and oversee our Strategy, setting long-term goals and ensuring that activities align with the Trust's vision and values. You will prioritise being impactful, collaborative, united and proactive in all aspects of the Trust's work. Through the Senior Management Team and dedicated combined workforce of employees and volunteers, you will ensure that the Trust's vision and goals are achieved through a culture that enables a high performing, high impact workforce, that inspires passion and commitment towards wildlife conservation.

Bookmark Reading Charity is seeking a flexible, experienced and dynamic PR & Communications Manager to lead our public relations efforts, manage key partnerships, and work with ambassadors to grow and enhance our profile and achieve our marketing goals. This role is essential to driving forward our wider strategy and ensuring that our message reaches a broad audience, ultimately contributing to the charity's key performance indicators. You will be managing our communications strategy in close collaboration with the Head of Marketing & Communications.
Key Responsibilities:
Public Relations:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive PR, communications & partnerships strategy to increase awareness and visibility of Bookmark’s brand, mission and reputation.
- Build and deliver Bookmarks external communications calendar, driving reach and depth to support the Marketing team’s KPIs and objectives.
- Help create and implement a plan for communicating Bookmark’s strategy, impact, and school programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage in national and regional media.
- Write and distribute press releases, pitch stories, engaging content and manage media inquiries.
- Monitor and report on PR activities, measuring the impact on brand awareness and engagement.
- Manage relationships with any external pro-bono PR agencies.
- Own and manage the charity's crisis communications strategy.
- Provide leaders where needed with trusted communications advice and guidance on external communications.
Partnerships:
- Identify and establish strategic partnerships with corporate sponsors, educational institutions, and other non-profits to support Bookmark’s goals.
- Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring mutual benefits and alignment with the charity's objectives.
- Collaborate with partners to develop joint campaigns, events, and initiatives that promote volunteer recruitment and fundraising.
- Manage and maintain positive relationships with media contacts, influencers, and key stakeholders to secure media coverage and maximize brand exposure.
Ambassador Programme:
- Create, manage and expand a network of ambassadors, including authors, celebrities, and influencers who advocate for the charity.
- Develop and implement strategies to effectively engage ambassadors in PR activities, events, and campaigns.
- Coordinate ambassador appearances, endorsements, and social media collaborations to amplify our message.
Marketing Integration:
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications to align PR, partnership, and ambassador activities with the overall marketing strategy.
- Contribute to the development of content and messaging that resonates with target audiences across all communication channels.
- Support the achievement of marketing KPIs, including volunteer registrations, completed applications, and brand awareness metrics.
- Identify and lead projects to improve Bookmark’s external communications.
- Collaborate with support teams to supply communication support for various initiatives, including program launches, corporate announcements, and crisis management.
Person Specification:
Experience:
- Proven experience in a PR, communications, or similar role, ideally within the charity, education, or non-profit sectors.
- Demonstrable success in securing media coverage, managing partnerships, and working with high-profile ambassadors.
- Experience in developing and executing PR strategies that align with wider marketing goals.
Skills:
- A degree in marketing, communications, media, or equivalent experience or qualification.
- Proven experience in external communications, either in a PR team, or at a PR agency, with some experience of managing contractors or an agency.
- You’ll have outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail, and ideally, experience in a B2B, third sector, or commercial environment.
- You’ll have the ability to craft compelling stories, press releases and pitches.
- You have experience of working directly with the media, with relevant media contacts a very big advantage.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

As the Senior MEL Officer in the MEL team, you will support the Head of Impact & Learning and the MEL Manager, as well as the Programmes & Impact department and wider team, to measure and analyse the quality and impact of our programming. You’ll use your strong organisation skills, experience in data collection and analysis, and ability to identify key trends and impact in our work. Department purpose
This role sits within the Programmes & Impact department, which is responsible for the development and delivery of our programmes and services, ensuring they are delivered to a high quality, remain responsive to women entrepreneurs’ needs and have demonstrable impact. The department is divided into three teams: Entrepreneurship, which is responsible for delivery of services such as HerVenture and the four ‘Road to’ programmes, Mentoring, which is responsible for development and delivery of the Mentoring Women in Business programme, and MEL, which is responsible for quality impact measurement, analysis and research.
Key responsibilities
Main obligations
- Support the development and implementation of MEL systems and tools across Mentoring and Entrepreneurship projects, providing the Foundation with the necessary information to understand our impact and inform programme improvements.
- Support in collection and analysis of organisational KPIs and provide overall operational support for the MEL team.
Specific responsibilities
- Programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Ensure up-to-date programme monitoring and evaluation materials (surveys, data collection tools and theoretical frameworks) are in place for existing programmes as well as those that are in development.
- In collaboration with colleagues in the Mentoring and Entrepreneurship teams, execute the annual calendar of programme and partner surveys, including uploading and testing the surveys.
- Develop analysis plans aligned to key research questions, programme goals and logical frameworks.
- Collect, clean and analyse quantitative and qualitative programme data aligned to programme goals, logical frameworks, organisational KPIs, and general summaries of findings.

You will have an ability to motivate yourself and others, have excellent organisational skills and be comfortable working under pressure and dealing with changing priorities.

We have influenced almost every piece of legislation concerning carers over the past 60 years: from the first ever 1967 legal right for carers to the 2024 Carer’s Leave Act, whereby employers must provide five days unpaid leave to employees. Our Employers for Carers forum was hugely influential in the passing of the Act.
We now have an exciting opportunity for an Account Executive to join our team and build on this recent success. This is a pivotal time for working carers as the Carer’s Leave Act has become law, after years of campaigning by Carers UK. This means it is now a statutory requirement for all employers to support unpaid carers by giving five days unpaid carers leave. However, we realise that there are still many barriers facing working carers, so we are already campaigning for a further change in the law for this to become a week of paid leave.

About the role

In partnership with the Centre for Public Impact with support from the Google AI Opportunity Fund, Media Trust is launching a pioneering new programme and we're looking for an experienced programme manager to lead on its delivery.
You will be empowering charities and under-represented creative talent, helping them gain AI skills to bridge the growing AI divide and prevent marginalised communities from being further excluded or disadvantaged.
The programme will provide AI essentials training to two of Media Trust’s key beneficiary stakeholder groups: (i) small charities advocating for and supporting marginalised communities, and (ii) talent from under-represented backgrounds working, or aspiring to work, in the media and creative industries.
The programme is funded by Centre for Public Impact with support from the Google AI Opportunity Fund and we'll delivering free bespoke AI training developed by Google and external partners.
You will be responsible for designing the delivery calendar and managing the launch and delivery of this ambitious programme, which will run from January to December 2025. You will also manage the MEL (measurement, evaluation and learning) processes for the programme and produce a quarterly progress report for the programme funder.
You will provide insights and learning from the programme to help Media Trust design new AI-related and other digital skills training programmes for charities and/or creative talent from under-represented backgrounds.

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.
Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.
As part of our passionate and committed team of approximately 50 staff, our aspiration is that you will thrive and develop in this varied role. You will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who are impacted by domestic abuse.
JOB PURPOSE
Liberty House provides housing and support for up to 5 homeless young women aged 16-24 who are single, pregnant or have a young child and have experienced domestic abuse.
The support worker will be required to take on key-working responsibilities for the residents at Liberty House, as well as delivering other support work within the house and within the wider Liberty team. This could be related to pregnancy and parenting, life skills, psychoeducational support, understanding healthy relationships and building supportive peer relationships within the home, and supporting them to live independently.
The post holder will work to provide a secure, stable and homely environment and to act as a positive role model to residents. They will build professional and supportive relationships with residents and colleagues.
The project works to empower residents, providing them with information relating to their rights and enabling them to make decisions based on their options using a trauma informed approach.
As a member of the Liberty Team (16 – 24 year olds), the successful applicant will work collaboratively with the rest of the Children and Young People’s team, as well as the wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery
- Provide holistic, trauma informed, practical and emotional support to residents of Liberty House through regular 1-2-1 sessions. Develop individual support plans, which address any practical and emotional needs the resident may have, such as accessing benefits, life skills and perform risk assessments where needed.
- Organise and deliver group sessions that focus on life skills and strengthening relationships.
- Encourage the residents in positive parenting.
- Manage relationships within the house, act as a conciliator, arbitrator and reconciler in disputes between residents.
- Ensure residents adhere to house rules.
- Assist with the day to day general running of the house and office, to ensure they are fit for purpose and safe for team members and residents.
- Conduct safety checks around the house. Ensure all faults/repairs are reported and that the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.

About the role

IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE
This role will involve designing the 'Missing Employees' service, encompassing the scoping and structuring process, becoming the subject matter expert for the charity, and developing our menu of support to be able to offer casework support and guidance to organisations and individuals affected. This will involve working directly with adults at risk who are missing or who have experience of being missing.
You will develop guidance, policy and learning and development in this new area for the charity. Service development
• Scope requirements for the service by working with the project steering group, identifying gaps in existing service provision and working with teams across the charity.

• Work with the Business Development Team and Corporate Fundraising team to create user journeys for companies from advice to financial support to the charity.
Service delivery
• Provide confidential consultation, advice and guidance to; employers, colleagues, adults who are returning to work after being missing and family members communicating with employers.
• Proactively contact organisations when it becomes clear they have a missing employee.
• Work with organisations, providing consultation and needs assessment, so HR professionals, line managers, and colleagues are trained and have processes in place to manage ‘Missing Employee’ incidents.

About SUDEP Action
SUDEP Action is the only UK charity focused on stopping preventable epilepsy-related deaths. We have the only epilepsy bereavement service freely available to anyone suddenly bereaved by epilepsy (including SUDEP – Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, when someone with epilepsy dies and no other cause can be found for their death). By representing the voices of those who have died and those who are bereaved, we aim to learn from their deaths and use research, policy and campaigns to raise awareness and take action that helps save lives.
With nearly 3-decades experience in supporting the bereaved and fighting to stop epilepsy related deaths – we know the importance of working together to help others. Our supporters and volunteers are our heart – helping us raise awareness, and funds as well as sharing their powerful personal experiences to drive our work forward.
The Role
With our current CEO going on maternity leave, we’re looking for someone with CEO experience who can efficiently step into this position and keep the work of the charity positively progressing towards achieving our ambitions and goals.
This is an important time in the charity’s history, with a growing team working hard to meet the increasingly complex needs of epilepsy and epilepsy bereaved communities, so we need an interim CEO who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and can quickly get up and running to play a leading role in increasing our reach, impact and opportunities.
Across the team, there is a wealth of knowledge and expertise that the right candidate will tap into and nurture as part of their leadership. They will be supported in their role by the Deputy CEO (who heads up our Bereavement Services), a strong Management team and the Board of Trustees. While we’re currently in a good financial position and have a solid income stream from our fantastic Community Fundraisers, we cannot be complacent and need someone financially astute to ensure the charity remains sustainable and is able to continue to grow.
Contract Type
- Fixed term contract starting in January
- The role will be for approximately 12 months, ideally with some handover time with the current CEO ahead of their maternity leave beginning, and the same on their return.

The Role
The Chief Executive Officer will line manage the executive team and any other relevant roles.
As the leader of the charity the Chief Executive Officer will interact with staff and volunteers across Beat setting a successful and positive culture to enable Beat to meet its objectives.
The Chief Executive Officer will build and manage relationships with numerous stakeholders including donors, politicians and experts in eating disorders.
Person Specification
- Evidence of leading the development and delivery of organisational strategy, key targets, service improvements and management of change within an organisation of similar size and complexity.
- Solid track record of effectively managing resources and budgets, with experience of delivering long term financial sustainability and stewardship of valuable resources.
