In this varied and versatile role you will work as part of the communications team to raise the charity’s profile and celebrate its positive impact for patients and NHS staff.  You'll work closely with the charity’s grants, arts, volunteering and fundraising teams to promote key activities.You’ll play an active role in ensuring the team’s aims and objectives are met, using a range of communications approaches including internal comms, digital marketing and public relations. You'll work collaboratively with our partner NHS Trust’s communications team on a day-to-day basis. You’ll take the lead in creating written, photographic and video content for a range of communication channels.  You'll support the wider team by representing the charity at events, monitoring and evaluating performance, gathering feedback from surveys and helping to measure the impact of our work.

Purpose of the job/About the role

You should also have a background in managing audits and working within governance and risk management frameworks.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation is looking for an experienced adviser to join our frontline Advice, Support & Enquiries Team managing all enquiries via the advice line and electronic/mail channels. Each month we receive hundreds of phone calls and emails from people who need our help. The team’s Advisers are often the first point of contact with the MCF and play a key role in our grants process.

You will need excellent customer service skills, a high level of personal resilience, ability to quickly build a good rapport with callers and be a team player who is willing to support colleagues and prioritise the needs of the team. Previous experience in a comparable role is desirable.

Day to day responsibilities include answering calls and responding to emails from individuals and families for a range of support (including daily living costs, health and care and education), liaising with our Advice and Support Advisers and Visiting Volunteers, awarding grants for counselling and consultations and keeping the grants system up to date.

The Head of Fundraising & Communication is responsible for the generation of funds for Kintsugi Hope by a variety of income streams and for ensuring the Kintsugi Hope brand and services are marketed throughout the UK. This will involve managing a Fundraisng Manager and Communications Manager and collaborating with the wider team to ensure success. A key outcome is that the annual fundraising target is achieved.

The Head of Development and Impact will be our lead fundraiser, drawing in support and expertise from across the team. They will take ownership of identifying funding sources, creating a strategy, forecasting our fundraising income, and building strong relationships with donors, bringing the experiences of our group members to life in fundraising communications. They will line management a full-time fundraiser who specialises in individual giving while the Head of Developent, Operations and Impact will lead on grant writing.

The Head of Development, Operations and Impact is required to lead a wide range of activities. You will be expected to manage your own time, prioritising tasks and leading a small team of people who contribute to CARAS’ fundraising. You will work closely with the CEO, and the senior leadership team which draws together Heads of Service from each of our programme areas. You will collaborate with our Finance Manager to ensure smooth management of grants and donations, and will play a key role in budget setting with the Finance Manager and CEO. 

The role demands cross-departmental working, and regular contact with community members to enhance your ability to advocate for them. You will be at the forefront of developing new ideas and approaches, and ensuring that teams have the money and resources to have an impact. 

Key tasks and activities. 

General 

• Lead the Operations department, line-managing team members in fundraising and operations management.

• Secure diverse and sustainable income streams to secure the future of CARAS. 

• Be the main point of contact for grant-makers and donors, communicating clearly and effectively about our work and its impacts.

Fundraising

Finance 

• Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager to ensure the rigorous financial management across all income and expenditure to ensure all grants and donations are accurately accounted for and spent. 

• Working collaboratively with the Finance Manager and CEO, develop the organisational annual budget and lead on income projections for the year ahead to ensure expenditure budgets are feasible and unlock multi-year growth. 

Monitoring, evaluation and impact 

• Leading CARAS’ annual outcomes evaluation, managing work across departments to collect, disaggregate and analyse outcomes data from our Learning, Casework and Social Programmes. 

• Develop CARAS’ outcomes report and donor report ensuring they are data rich and clearly demonstrate impact. 

• Monitoring the wealth of data CARAS collects through our frontline service to ensure we stay agile and adaptable within a changing policy context, supporting Heads of Service and other relevant stakeholders to deliver excellence. 

Governance

At Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) we're dedicated to helping the successful integration of refugees and people seeking asylum into the local community. Role Overview

Location: We have an office in Kingston Upon Thames, greater London. Flexible and hybrid working is offered to all staff. 

Hours: 35 hours per week (including paid half-hour lunch break) 

Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 per annum permanent

As the CEO of Refugee Action Kingston, you'll lead our organisation in supporting refugees and people seeking asylum in south west London to lead fulfilled and independent lives. Your responsibilities will include:  

Strategic leadership  

• Developing and implementing annual plans aligned with our strategy, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, to achieve desired outcomes.  

• Maintaining efficient systems for the charity's operations, ensuring good governance and financial sustainability.  

• Overseeing all aspects of organisational management including finances, resources, services, and communications, in cooperation with trustees.  

 
Governance and organisational management  

• Working closely with trustees to direct and deliver RAK's objectives according to the charity's strategy.  

• Leading and supporting the RAK team to fulfil objectives, emphasising client needs, monitoring outcomes, and integrating learning into operations.  

• Ensuring compliance with governance requirements, supporting board responsibilities, and contributing to trustee meetings and reporting.  

 
Financial management and human resources  

• Ensuring effective financial management, leading finance and project management teams to maintain controls, preparing reports, and managing spending within budget.

 Fundraising

• Focus on growing unrestricted funds to reduce reliance on grants.  

Advocacy and influencing

Summary of role purpose

Senior fundraising and development role at a pioneering, mid-sized climate-change journalism non-profit with a seven-figure budget. Overall responsibility for developing, securing and managing a trusts and foundations pipeline – during an important organisational inflection point -- to help grow a sustainable, financially substantial and long-term income stream for our programmes, core and new activities. Working strategically with senior leadership and staff to maximise existing income sources and identify and evaluate new sources of income, including those beyond philanthropic donations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Research and recommend funding opportunities for current and planned programmes at a dynamic, climate-change charity with a strong track record, team, and culture. Manage and organise initial enquiries, funding applications, follow-ups, and learnings from feedback.

· Draft clear and compellingly written fundraising materials, including cases for support, funding proposals and concept notes.

· Manage / support relationships with funders, including timely appropriate tailored funder reports and other communications.

· Oversee the preparation of bespoke, accurate and clear grant reports, rooted in our measurement, evaluation and learning strategy, along with other fundraising materials 

· Work strategically with the senior management team (SMT) to develop plans to maximise income to achieve annual fundraising targets and, together with the editorial and leadership teams, meet with funders and donors to understand their interests, priorities and present proposals.

· Chair bi-weekly meeting with the SMT to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.

· Collaborate with colleagues, especially in the editorial and operations teams, to gather information on project needs, aims and deliverables; ensure that what is presented to funders is aligned with the delivery side of the organisation.

· Oversee the management of the grants database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.

· Manage internal fundraising processes.

· Build and maintain positive relationships, both with internal stakeholders and funders.

· Assist in relationship and account management for non-philanthropic income streams.

· Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders ensuring appropriate follow-up.

· Assist in crafting presentations to funders, working with broader team to develop film / materials.

Working Hours

32 hours, 9-6. We offer a four-day working week, with full time pay.

Hybrid working

We work in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.  Attendance is mandatory on Tuesdays; staff can choose which other days they attend.

Pension

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced, committed and highly organised Fundraising Manager. The postholder will have a central role in working with the Head of Fundraising to secure grants from statutory agencies and trusts and foundations but will also work to steward relationships with individual donors, support innovative digital fundraising campaigns and assist in the delivery of targeted fundraising activities and events. There is significant scope and opportunity for the Fundraising Manager to develop the charity’s work arounds trusts and foundations, individual giving, challenge/community events and corporate partnerships.

This role would be ideal for applicants with successful fundraising experience and could suit someone wishing to progress their fundraising careers by stepping up into a Fundraising Manager role.
