The GRANT AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER will be responsible for:
· The effective financial management of grants to our partners, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and the introduction of robust financial tracking systems to monitor grant expenditure.
· The development of tools and processes to support grantee partners with the management and reporting of grants and the building of capacity for long term growth
· Ensuring SPANA adheres to financial and regulatory obligations, minimises risk and is in a strong position for future funding opportunities.
· Developing a comprehensive and accessible information system for grant management.
· Training staff on grant management and compliance best practices.
Your skills, experience and knowledge for this role of GRANT AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER must include:
· A degree or equivalent in business administration or finance or substantial prior experience in a related role.
· Extensive up to date knowledge of UK and international funding regulations and compliance requirements.
· Demonstrable professional experience in grant management, compliance, financial reporting and due diligence.
· Excellent proven financial analytical and problem solving skills
· Ability to work in a multicultural environment and undertake international travel where necessary.
· Interest in working animal welfare and international development.

Job Specification
The Trust and Foundation Manager role will play a crucial role in maximising funding for Wells Cathedral, helping to preserve it for the future and open its outstanding heritage to visitors everywhere.
As Trust and Foundation Manager you will:
· Lead on creating and developing the Trust and Foundation strategy for the Cathedral, with support from the Director of Development.
· Build and maintain strong and rewarding partnerships with charitable Trusts and Foundations and achieve funding including multi-year grants, unrestricted and restricted income.
· Achieve results through persuasive and compelling applications and proposals and creating robust budgets. Amplify project impact through detailed monitoring and inspiring reports.
· Build the financial resilience of the Cathedral through prospect research, developing qualified prospect pipelines and driving new funding approaches.
· Build strong networks and advance relationships with grant makers and trustees of Trusts and Foundations, engaging the wider Cathedral team and Chapter in developing relationships and stewardship plans.
· Help realise The Vicars’ Close Project – the Cathedral’s transformational project to save Vicars’ Close and create an inspiring new visitor offer, as well as an exciting range of future projects.
· Network and keep abreast of the wider funding landscape and giving trends to inform the strategy and with a view to engaging new Trusts and Foundations and identifying funding opportunities.
· Lead on grant approvals, crediting obligations, progress monitoring and reporting deadlines.
· Develop and manage high-quality cultivation, engagement and stewardship plans for existing donors and new funders. Input into the design, delivery and support a range of unique events to inspire supporters and cultivate new relationships, bringing to life the extraordinary work of the Cathedral.
· Support the team through additional duties as reasonably required to assist the smooth and efficient running of the Development Team and maximise the impact of the fundraising function. Some weekend and out of hours working may be required.

The Bureau is the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative journalism organisation. In the last year, our investigations were published in over 100 countries across local, national, international, specialist, TV and digital platforms. Our four global investigative teams work with reporters around the world on priority cross-border issues – environment, health, dirty money and big tech. In addition, our UK-focused Bureau Local team uses an innovative community-led approach to cover issues like insecure work, migrant rights and family courts, amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities. At the Bureau, our funders and supporters are vital. We are almost entirely funded through grants and donations so – put simply – without their support, we wouldn’t be here.
Although our supporters may come from different backgrounds or have varied priorities, they all share a common goal: tackling the issues across our society that are eroding democracy and driving inequality. They support our work to hold those in power accountable, uncover new evidence to support positive change, and empower citizens.
The Bureau has experienced significant growth over the past three years, increasing our annual income to £2.8m and expanding to a team of more than 40 people. While the majority of our income comes from grants, there is strong potential for further fundraising growth, and we are actively working to diversify our funding streams beyond trusts and foundations.
This is an exciting time to join the Bureau as we continue to build on our strong relationships with existing supporters while exploring new funding opportunities.
Role and Responsibilities:
Support from trusts and foundations is our main source of philanthropic income so we are looking for somebody with experience in grants fundraising who can quickly apply their skills and expertise. You’ll work closely with our Development Director to report to and liaise with current funders, manage a pipeline of prospects and submit successful applications to secure new grants. You’ll also work closely with our other Fundraising Manager, who manages a pipeline focused on our environment, global health, and big tech work, and may be asked to work on these areas from time to time. In addition, you will support in building a major donor programme to diversify and strengthen our funding base. You will collaborate with colleagues at all levels across the organisation, from impact producers to reporters to finance and operations, in a supportive and welcoming culture that values teamwork and shared success.
As an excellent communicator, you will be able to take complex issues and translate them into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with funders and stakeholders. You will also be passionate about building strong relationships with our funders and supporters.
While experience in high net worth fundraising would be a valuable bonus, it is not essential. You don’t need to have raised funds for non-profit media before, but you do need to be excited by our work and able to express the Bureau’s key areas of work and impact in an accessible, accurate and compelling way. We’re a small team, so you’ll need the willingness to pitch in on fundraising tasks – big or small – to ensure the Bureau is in the best possible position to pursue its mission.
We envisage this as a full-time, primarily hybrid working role, working from our London office two/three times a week.
Skills and Experience
• Excellent fundraiser with a demonstrable track record of 3+ years’ experience successfully raising significant funds for charities or non-profits and managing relationships with funders (foundations - essential, high net worth individuals - desirable);
• Strong background in managing grants admin, including due diligence and processing agreements;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to speak and write English fluently;
• Great analytical skills, with experience of researching and identifying new funding sources for various projects;
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities;
• Experience of working with databases and funding pipelines;
• Exceptional time management skills, a professional attitude and meticulous attention to detail;
• Resourceful and able to think creatively with strong problem solving skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate at all levels across the organisation.
• Experience in securing funds for journalism, social justice, civil society, human rights or related causes, particularly from UK funders, is desirable but not essential;

The Vacancy
The Programme Development Manager is committed to supporting colleagues and partners in programme design and development. The team also connects programmatic issues and global policy and advocacy to ensure they are complementary and conducive to external change based on evidence from the ground.
Saferworld’s income is secured primarily from statutory and institutional donors; however, securing funding to support our partners in conflict-affected countries and allow for more flexible programming increasingly requires a more diverse funding base. The Programme Development Manager will support efforts to identify and secure funds from statutory donors, trusts and foundations, and other non-traditional funding mechanisms.
The Programme Development Manager will support a portfolio of Saferworld’s teams in designing and mobilising funding for peace, security and justice programmes. The successful applicant will have a focus of approximately 4 countries, which will be decided based on the candidate’s experience and preference. Working closely with Country Managers/Directors, and programme and grant management colleagues, the post-holder will lead on: coordinating and facilitating programme development processes (including taking the lead in drafting high quality concept notes and proposals, theories of change, logical models, risk matrixes and budgets); developing and supporting the implementation of long-term country funding strategies and donor engagement strategies; and supporting new donor engagement and sustaining relationships with current donors. The post-holder will be responsible for growing institutional funding portfolios in our programmes.
The post-holder will have a successful track record in developing programmes and leading new business development efforts with institutional donors such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United States Government (USG)/United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union (EU), UN agencies and European Governments such as Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Additional experience in mobilising resource from trusts and foundations and other non-traditional funding mechanisms is desirable.
They will have proven skills and experience in programme management and support, successful programme design processes and bid leadership.

The role
The Events Manager (Academic) will be responsible for the management and delivery of the British Academy’s year-round academic events programmes (Conferences, Lectures, Public Engagement and Prizes & Medals).

Your Role: Senior Grants Manager
We are looking for a motivated person to join our grant team for six months to support us in our efforts to harness opportunities for small charities in the UK through funding, learning and development opportunities, awareness-raising activities and in-kind donations. This exciting projects-led role will help the team deliver several strategic projects. You will:
Lead the delivery of a new initiative for Small Charity Week 2025 (23-27th June) - partnering with Big Give and NCVO to deliver an exciting match-funding campaign. Working to a high level of independence, you will utilise your expertise in the grantee selection, running decision-making panels, grant management, and evaluation of grants, as well as help optimise the campaign’s delivery, and impact through charity/beneficiary storytelling.

Key Responsibilities
Grant Selection and Decision-Making:
- Own the coordinate and participate in the partnership panel(s) to complete the second stage of the grant selection and decision-making process.

Grantee Relationship Management:
- Act as point person for grantees and address queries efficiently and equitably post funding distribution
Impact Measurement and Reporting:

Storytelling and Communications:
- Identify and source impactful stories from grantees for Small Charity Week marketing and communications campaign activities.

- Lead on the review of any existing processes and creation of new collaborative approaches to trusts and statutory requirements, utilising best practice and technology solutions where appropriate.
