About us
Who we are
SPANA (The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad) is the charity for the working animals of the world. Since our foundation in 1923, we have worked where they work, to support the welfare of working animals, including horses, donkeys, mules, oxen and camels.
Operating across nearly 20 low-income countries, we ensure the treatment of working animals in need, the training of owners in good animal welfare and the teach of children in animal welfare. We do all this to transform the lives of working animals.
Our culture and values
We are an agile and dynamic workforce, driven by SPANA's mission to transform the welfare of working animals.
We are driven by four values:
- Excellence - we seek excellence in everything we do
- Respect - we treat everyone equally, with dignity and respect
- Integrity - we act with integrity, honesty and transparency
- Collaboration - we support one another and co-operate as a team.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
SPANA is committed to promoting equal opportunities, eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity, equity and inclusion (D,E&I) amongst our workforce, to ensure all staff are treated, and treat others, with dignity and respect.
