Role Summary

Speakers For Schools is looking for a senior and experienced Evaluation Manager to lead and oversee an impact evaluation project.. This role requires a dedicated professional to manage the day-to-day operations of an independent evaluation conducted by an external agency.

The Evaluation Manager will ensure the project is executed smoothly, meets its objectives, and delivers high-quality, actionable insights. This position is ideal for someone with strong project management skills, a solid background in evaluation methodologies, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

The Evaluation Manager works closely with the Director of Policy, Research and Impact and the Director of Programme and Delivery to ensure the successful implementation of the project. The successful candidate will be the main point of contact for the evaluation delivery, and it involves a great level of internal and external stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

Strategic Purpose: 

· Lead the evaluation project, ensuring it adheres to timelines, budget, and quality standards.

· Serve as the primary point of contact between the external evaluation agency, internal stakeholders and the funder.

· Monitor the progress of the evaluation, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring that milestones are met. 

· Make informed, timely, and effective decisions to drive the project forward. The candidate should be able to analyse complex situations, consider various perspectives, and choose the best course of action to resolve issues and make progress. 

Engagement: 

· Coordination and facilitation of effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved, including staff, partners, and the evaluation agency. 

· Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders, including the Programmes and Delivery Directorate, Technology and Data team and Communications 

· Collaborate with the Data Compliance team to ensure adherence to data integrity and security standards

· Prepare and present regular updates to senior management and the funding body, highlighting key findings and progress. 

Delivery: 

· Conduct regular checks and audits to ensure data quality, completeness, and integrity.

· Work closely with the evaluators to address any discrepancies or issues identified during data collection or analysis. 

· Develop a how-to-guide for future impact evaluations for the charity and design a knowledge transfer tool during the course of the project

· Develop and implement processes for data validation and verification to improve accuracy and reliability. 

· Adherence to data compliance, standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure our data integrity and consistency. 

· Ensure safeguarding best practices are embedded in all organisational activities.

Skills / Experience / Knowledge:

Essential

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in evaluation, impact or a related field. 

· Knowledge and experience of both quantitative & qualitative research and evaluation methods, tools and techniques 

· Highly numerate and computer literate, including advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, as well as a wider range of project management, CRM and internal communication tools 

· Experience in analysing, interpreting and presenting data; Familiarity with evaluation methodologies and best practices 

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

About the role

Sightsavers are seeking for a Research Assistant to support our new Research and Evidence Uptake Strategy which identifies technological innovations as a new priority area. In the next strategic period, we aim to develop and implement strategies for digital enhancement of our research approaches and programmes to maximise the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of our work.

The Research Assistant will have an understanding of data and digital technology space and how to apply them in low- income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. They will work alongside other members of the Research team to identify opportunities and develop and test digital solutions to enhance our programmes and research.  The immediate opportunities include digital support for inclusive education programmes in Kenya and Sierra Leone and neglected tropical disease programmes in Ghana and Mozambique. There will also be opportunities to be involved in research using traditional quantitative and qualitative methods, including health system assessments, surveys and focus group discussions.

As the successful candidate you will possess a postgraduate degree in data sciences, data management or other related fields, and have good knowledge and experience of working with data systems and platforms in Sub-Sharan Africa context, which is essential for this role.

Further requirements include:

• Knowledge of statistical programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
• Understanding and experience of novel tools using statistics, mathematics, and machine learning approaches for data analysis.
• Experience in basic and advanced analytical techniques.
• Demonstrated knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Understanding of the key research methods and research governance.
• Ability to travel - on planned visits, for up to 10 weeks of the year, in sometimes difficult locations.

Job Purpose

As the Head of Fundraising, your primary responsibility is to lead the strategic direction and execution of Village Water’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on diversifying income streams and maximising revenue generation. You will oversee all fundraising activities, particularly in Trusts and Foundations (both UK and International), corporate partnerships, High Value Donors, and statutory bodies. Your role involves crafting compelling funding applications and reports, creating an ambitious fundraising strategy, applying for and securing large multi-year grants from new and existing donors, ensuring exemplary donor stewardship, and fostering collaboration across teams to achieve fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a specific emphasis on Trusts and Foundations & corporate fundraising, to ensure a steady pipeline of funding opportunities. Coordinate with team members to meet fundraising targets effectively and manage donation pipelines working with CEO and Finance manager to ensure the pipeline matches the cashflow.

• Directly oversee and support your team members, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching to ensure both individual and team objectives are achieved. (currently the team is 3)

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, including Trusts, Foundations, Corporates and Statutory bodies, through proactive engagement and personalized stewardship.

ROLE CONTEXT

ABOUT ALL SAINTS: There has never been a more exciting time to join the team at All Saints. As part of a new project to revitalise the church for the Island, we are planting the first-ever contemporary service into the Church as part of the HTB network of churches (including Harbour Church Portsmouth). We are currently building an amazing team to bring the vision to life. So, this is a rare opportunity to join a new foundational team and community and to be part of the team that sets the vision, values, and culture for the next phase of ministry at All Saints as we explore what it looks like to play our part in the evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the Church, and the transformation of society.

ABOUT RYDE: Ryde is just a 10-minute journey on the hovercraft from Portsmouth Harbour. Ryde is known as ‘the gateway to the Island with several main travel points located within it. It also has a long stretch of sandy beach and lots of independent shops and cafes. The largest town on the Isle of Wight with a population of 37k. The Church is a landmark on the island with the spire visible from many places around the Isle of Wight and from the mainland projecting beyond the town skyline. ROLE PURPOSE

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who thrives on operational excellence and loves managing a project to completion to have a hugely impactful and pivotal role in a church entering a new phase of its life. KEY TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

Oversee Operational Excellence - Oversee the important day-to-day operations of the church and its buildings and hold oversight responsibility for: Project roll-out; Health and Safety; Food Hygiene, Fire Assessment; Risk Management; Infrastructure; GDPR and Accessibility issues.

• Develop and lead the ongoing strategic plan for the church’s activity in consultation with the wider team.

Be the Team – as All Saints has never had a contemporary worship service before, this is really a church-planting opportunity. We’re therefore looking to build a team of people who are energised by helping one another and who want to serve the wider vision of the church rather than work in team- specific silos. While most of your work will be focused on operational excellence, we’re aiming to be a close-knit team who all help each other and where no one is left with too much on their plate or a task they can’t manage. This means we’ll all help you with as needed, but in turn, we expect that you’ll help when needed with other projects as well. We think church is just more fun this way, anyway!

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
