Worldwide Veterinary Service is searching for an experienced and ambitious manager to lead the growth of our global education programme
This is an ideal role for an experienced project manager who wants to make lasting improvements to the lives of children and animals around the world.
Reporting to the Director of Policy at global animal welfare charity, Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS), you will help grow and develop education programmes that protect children from key zoonotic disease and improve the relationship between animals and people.
One child dies from rabies every 10 minutes. Most victims are under the age of 15. Rabies is 100% fatal, but entirely vaccine preventable. Children just need the right information to protect themselves. WVS established Mission Rabies, a campaign that aims to eliminate rabies for good, in 2013. We have worked hard to reach 9.6 million children worldwide, but around half of the world’s 2 billion children at this age still live in rabies endemic countries. You will manage national education managers based across Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America to spread our core messages to a wider audience. This is essential if we are to deliver our goal to halve the number of people dying from rabies in the next 5 years.

As an organisation we are embracing hybrid working, and remote working within the UK could be considered for this role. Applicants should be aware that there is an expectation that employees will attend meetings at our Dorset office and travel as needed for this role. For this role, there may be an average of about 1 - 2 internal meetings per month that require travel – either to one of our offices or to other locations within the UK. You should expect to travel to global project sites at least once per quarter.
About Us
At Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) we champion animal welfare around the world. We send vets where they are needed most, provide expert veterinary training in hard-to-reach places, and ship urgent aid supplies worldwide, every day of the year.
We deploy teams of vets and vet nurses, send equipment and supplies to help struggling organisations on the front line of animal welfare, and train vets at our international training centres in India, Thailand, Malawi and the Galápagos Islands. We also work on strategic one health projects such as rabies elimination campaigns with Governments and NGOs all over the world.
Last year, WVS treated over 103,000 animals, trained over 2,800 vets, deployed teams of vets all over the world, and sent over 1,042 parcels of veterinary supplies to 231 charities in 65 countries. Over 1.2 m dogs were vaccinated against rabies last year as part of our Mission Rabies campaign.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, oversee, and develop our education and behaviour change campaigns in Asia, Africa and Latin America
- Work with education leads in country to ensure that targets are being met and quality is being adhered to.
- Work effectively with local and international stakeholders and government partners to seek out new opportunities in target countries and represent WVS.
- Identify potential partner organisations, initiate and maintain communications
- Work closely with colleagues to provide technical advice and implementation assistance to Mission Rabies and WVS projects around the world.
- Ensure teams are reporting accurately and adhering to monitoring mechanisms.
- Write strong project reports and proposals.
- Act as Deputy Safeguarding Officer and ensure compliance with national and international obligations and regulations.
- Provide regular updates to the UK head office and the global teams.
- Undertake field visits in support of this work.
- Any other duties as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 10+ years in project or campaign management, preferably in an animal welfare, public health, humanitarian and/or international development capacity.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in managing large and diverse teams in challenging environments.
- A strong team player.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
- A passion for animal welfare.
- Proficient in Microsoft packages - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability and willingness to be flexible and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends occasionally when the charity requires.
- Qualified to degree level or with a relevant recognised qualification.
- Proficiency in English (mother tongue or C2 level equivalent).
- A full drivers’ licence.

- Degree in international relations, public health, conservation, animal welfare, animal health related sciences, such as veterinary medicine or veterinary nursing.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Manager. Based within the Development and Outreach team in the External Engagement directorate, you will report to the Head of Development and Outreach and work closely with senior staff and external stakeholders.
The successful individual will have wide-ranging responsibilities including managing and strengthening relationships with existing and prospective donors, leading the development of Girls Not Brides' prospect pipeline, and preparing and quality-assuring a range of proposals and donor deliverables. You will also contribute to the project management of restricted grants, working with Regional, Finance and Impact teams to keep these projects on track.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a passionate and talented fundraiser with significant experience in a similar role in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise. You will have in-depth knowledge of the funding landscape and experience securing multiyear grants from both government donors and trusts and foundations. You will have excellent relationship management and impeccable written and communication skills.
Job location
London, UK (hybrid with up to two days on site per week).
The successful candidate must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of applying and for a minimum of two years.

Accountable to
Head of Development and Outreach
This role includes line manager responsibilities, overseeing the day-to-day work of the Development and Outreach Officer.
Salary range
£46,850 rising on an annual incremental basis. Girls Not Brides also offers a generous 10% pension.
Contract
This is an initial two-year full-time role.
The successful candidate must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of applying and for the full duration of the two-year initial contract.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Securing income and donor relationship management
- Cultivate new and strengthen existing relationships with a range of donors for Girls Not Brides - currently largely donor governments and private foundations.
- Lead the development of funding proposals, budgets, and MEL frameworks, working with other teams.
- Project manage restricted funding providing coordination between teams to ensure smooth donor relations, compliance and reporting.
- Manage, draft and quality-assure a range of communications and deliverables for existing and prospective donors.
- Proactively anticipate and respond to the interests and needs of existing and prospective donors, to share news, products and updates and to involve them in relevant Girls Not Brides' activities.
Donor pipeline development
- Lead the management of Girls Not Brides' prospect pipeline.
- Identify new donor prospects for Girls Not Brides through deep knowledge of the sector and funding landscape, complemented by the latest research, analysis and networking.
- Work with senior leaders and other teams to develop a clear funding wishlist and concept notes in line with our strategy.
- Work with the Finance team to support pipeline and gap analysis to inform fundraising agenda.
External visibility and events
- Represent Girls Not Brides externally with donors and partners, collaborating across the External Engagement directorate and with other teams. This may include attending events and meetings both in the UK and internationally.
- Project manage donor-related meetings and events as necessary.
- Support increased visibility and awareness of Girls Not Brides' work.

Accountabilities
Social Media Strategy & Community Management (internal & external)
- Create and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Practical Action's organizational objectives.
- Responsible for daily community management on social channels, monitoring engagements, responding to comments and/or escalating as appropriate; including out-of-hours cover during major events or exceptional circumstances.
- Leverage Social Listening tools to optimise our social activity performance and reach through creative engagement tactics, including reinforcing Practical Action’s position as a leader in the international development sector.
- Create social media toolkits to allow colleagues and partners to use their own social media channels to share our messaging and campaigns consistently and engagingly.
Digital Content Creation & Dissemination
- Collaborate closely with colleagues from the Brand & Communications unit and beyond in the development and constant optimisation of a content calendar; sourcing stories, updates, and relevant content for digital dissemination across multiple channels including social media and websites.
- Manage the creation of digital content (copy, audio, and graphics including moving image and video), working with cross-functional teams to determine the type of content to produce, and for which platforms, to best meet audience needs and further our objectives.
- Ensure all digital content is engaging, consistent with our brand identity and narrative, and aligned with Practical Action’s strategic objectives.

Person Specification
To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Experience & knowledge (Essential unless otherwise indicated).
- Proven experience in digital communications, with a strong focus on multi-regional websites and social media strategy and management, ideally in the international development / INGO sector.
- Demonstrable track record of creating and implementing successful social media initiatives for a wide array of audiences with diverse needs, insights, and digital consumption patterns.
- Robust experience using digital analysis and reporting tools (including Google Analytics and social listening) and applying data-driven insights to optimise communication strategies.
- Expert knowledge of each of the major social media platforms (e.g. Linkedin, Instagram, YouTube) unique opportunities and strengths, and how to leverage them to maximise results.
- Strong understanding of current digital trends, best practices, and emerging platforms.
- Knowledge of SEO, content marketing, and email marketing principles is desirable.

Since its inception in 2007, End Water Poverty (EWP) has held governments accountable for advancing people’s rights to water and sanitation. We are known for building partnerships and connecting activists and organisations at international, regional and national levels. About the Team
EWP’s membership is global and diverse. It includes grassroots groups, social movements, trade unions, national and regional networks, and international NGOs. The global secretariat is hosted by the international NGO WaterAid.
This role will report into a Global Coordinator, an active steering committee and will sit inside WaterAid’s (host organization) Campaigns team.
About the Role
The primary purpose of the role is to coordinate End Water Poverty’s core campaigns and communications. This will be achieved by leading on the planning and delivery of impactful global campaigns and clear captivating communications materials, including newsletters, social media, and website articles. The post holder will also manage member relations alongside EWP’s global coordinator, strengthening relationships with existing members while proactively establishing new alliances to bolster and diversify the coalition.
Requirements
To be successful, you’ll need:
- At least two year’s experience of coordinating global campaigns
- Ability to develop and implement communications strategies
- Good understanding of communications tactics – newsletter, social media etc.
- Understanding of human rights in relation to water and sanitation
- Ability to provide support to members
- A can-do attitude, and ability to self motivate and work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills.

The WaterAid's Private Sector Policy and Advocacy team where we are working to change company practices while capturing private sector know-how and innovation to ensure everyone everyone has access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. The private sector policy and advocacy team works closely with WaterAid's partnerships and programmes team to drive change through 3 areas: leveraging private finance, bringing about greater water security through integration of WASH in corporate practice, and engaging private sector actors to help extend and ensure sustainability of water and sanitation services.
About the Role:
As a critical thought leader, communicator, and connector, the Policy Analyst - Private Sector will be a critical resource for WaterAid to advance the private sector’s contribution to WASH, working closely with other colleagues across the organisation, and developing informed WaterAid positions and advocacy on the key areas through which WaterAid can work to influence the behaviours and actions of these critical actors in the achievement of water security and WASH services.
In this role, you will support the development of a coherent and evidence-based narrative on the private sector’s contribution to improving water security and WASH outcomes with an emphasis on their role in the delivery of WASH services and impacts on water resources.
You’ll also:
- Understand and document the the best models of WASH service delivery where the private sector has played a key role.
- Support the development of frameworks for integrating WASH into the most salient corporate sustainability mechanisms (both social and environmental), building on existing work completed at WaterAid and facilitating their adoption.
- Lead the work of documenting and developing case studies of positive private sector actions across the federation working closely with colleagues working on private sector projects or approaches.
- Develop a strong project management system for tracking progress and support delivery of all centrally managed WaterAid private sector initiatives, working closely with leads.
- Work with colleagues to conduct analyses of policies that enable the uptake and implementation of the most impactful private sector actions, across service providers to impactors and financiers, for WASH.
- Lead work with Communications and Media teams to disseminate research through media and social media channels and internal communications working with colleagues in program support and knowledge team.
- Coordinate, support and accompany technical and policy leads to represent WaterAid at key meetings, and act as lead when they are not available.
- Coordinate and directly build a strong network of key players – both within the WASH sector and in broader private sector and development communities – to increase influence and position WaterAid as a leading organisation in terms of leveraging core strengths of the private sector for WASH outcomes.
- Travel as necessary to regions and Country Programmes, as well as to relevant international events and conferences.
Requirements
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Very strong project management skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with and across key internal stakeholders across different geographies, in establishing the necessary evidence, policy positions and research gaps.
- Knowledge and experience working with private sector actors (with an emphasis on service providers) and understanding how they can provide solutions for improved WASH outcomes, including the key enabling factors necessary.
- Knowledge, interest, and experience in working in and developing frameworks related to corporate sustainability (both environmental and social) that impact on WASH outcomes,
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English with proven experience of authoring high-impact policy briefs
Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- Masters’ degree, or post-graduate qualifications and research experience in a relevant water related or development field AND/OR significant experience in private sector delivery of WASH Services
- Functional fluency in French, Spanish or Portuguese
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
